Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I can see where the baggage shuffling would get annoying. Especially with little ones. Glad you made it to port. Hopefully the "big boat" lives up to your DDs expectations. Sounds like she was really excited about it!
Sounds like a great travel day, loved that the kids enjoyed SAB. We love the Epcot resorts but there is definitely a big difference from day to night, it really does get much more crowded and hectic as the evening progresses. I think my favorite time is an afternoon stroll...love how it is empty - so peaceful.
Glad everyone had a great time at the clam bake and that you enjoyed. I love CMC for breakfast, the pictures of the kids with the characters are great. Can't wait to hear Josie's reaction when she finally gets on the ship.
I am also suprised about the passowrd security, I would think typing it into a computer or something would be a much more safe and secure way of doing it, sort of like when you set up your pin code at a bank and they have you enter it in.

OMG, I just had to go back and check the PM I sent you to make sure I didn't write the number wrong, I didn't, but somehow I never noticed you sent me your number.
I did get a random text that night and I was excited to check it but it was from GG asking me if I was happy with my order............OK, next time for sure!!
Oh, I knew it was my fault! It's probably for the best because I don't know if I would've been able to resist the urge to take a bite out of one of Andre's chubby little cheeks! Love that Josie kept looking for the big boat. Can't wait for you to get on it already!

Mickey's so happy to see me back, he can barely contain himself!
I loved the photos of Arnaud with Josie...just precious!. And I know what you mean about children changing the way they feel about the characters. When we took Hope at 8 months she was in awe of them, but when we took her at 16 months she was scared to death. I wonder what she'll be like this year?

That cotton candy sky was GORGEOUS!!
Love Andre's face looking at the characters. Actually, just love his face. Those are the cutest cheeks!
And the pics of Josie & her daddy? Too precious!
Now get on that boat!!
That photo of Josie in the air with dad is a classic!! Frame it - and use it at her wedding too. Andre is just too adorable with his big eyes and cute cheeks!!!
All caught up love your tr so far!!! Sounds like an amazing first day at BC so excited for you that you will be going back next fall i love being able to look forward to a disney trip!
We get our pics taken and then we are ready to get on that BIG BOAT. Finally!! They announce us and Josie just runs on board and is off! Saying HI to everyone and just really bouncing all over.
There weren’t many CM there at that point, but they let us know our rooms were ready and we could head up to them. So we did just that. HOLY CANOLI is our room HUGE!!!!!
I can’t even tell you how shocked I was with the size of it. I mean, I had seen plenty of pics, but never did I expect this. So much drawer space and shelves in the bathroom. The only thing I ever thought was small was the one side of the closet and that was it. Really. I just really could never get over the size. We dropped our bags and then took off for a small bite and stroll around the ship.
We grabbed a little grub from Cabanas, nothing much because dinner wasn’t too far away. After that we went over to the spa to see if I could win myself a treatment, as we were walking past the elevators in front of the spa the door opens up and off comes Daisy. OMG, Josie’s jaw dropped to the floor and couldn’t believe it. Daisy stopped to give her a hug but off she went. Now, I know everyone says to have your camera with you always. But really, you should have it in your hand ready to roll at ALL TIMES!! No joke. The spa was a zoo with people so hubs took the kids out and back down to the room. I didn’t win anything but they were offering a deal for a 75min full body treatment for $100 off the original price if you booked then. So I did, but you had to get it done that day. I said I couldn’t. The lady at the desk told me they could still honor it if I could get the service done at 8am tomorrow morning. I figured, why not, so yeah, book me!
Now we had to head off to the muster drill, which was quick, but then it was quick turnaround to go off to the sail away party, which then was quick hurry up and get ready for dinner and all still didn’t have our bags yet. This first day on the ship was actually starting to be quite stressful. After the drill, our bags did show up so I was trying to get some things put away but now the party was starting. Of course Andre fell asleep, so I wasn’t going to bother him. Arnaud and Josie went up to the party and waved to Dawn as the ship started to sail away. I watched from our room. I’m bummed we missed that as a family, but what could I do really? Wasn’t going to mess with a sleeping child. Now I noticed that there were a lot of meet and greets happening right before our dinner, but again with having to be there at 5:45, we were pushing it. We skipped them and just headed off to dinner. Animators Palate.
I was so looking forward to this place. I hoped it wasn’t going to be on our first night, but it was so oh well. As we walked in I could feel the ship really hauling. It was moving FAST and it was rocky! We got seated at a table for just us. I actually noticed over the cruise that most people with an infant were sitting by themselves. That was nice on Disney’s part. We sit at a great table right in front of the screens and next thing you know Crush was swimming right by us. It was awesome.
However, this is around the time Andre started his whole little dinner show again. Seemed happy as a clam, but man if you were not watching his every move or paying all your attention to him, he was a loud, squeaky mess. Again, not screaming or crying, but these squeals. I always do my best to keep my kids really well behaved, at all times. And I could really care less what people around me think when either of my kids has a meltdown or an issue of whatever. I do my best to resolve it quickly, but at the end of the day, they are children and the main thing is I am trying! Well, this couple that was sitting at a 6 top table next to us could not stop with the glares and comments about Andre. THEY were making me uncomfortable and trust me folks……..that NEVER happens. I let it roll off my back, it was a noisy restaurant to begin with too, plus the rocking, it was just a lot going on. This couple though, really they couldn’t stop and Arnaud knew I was getting frustrated with them. Now with both Arnaud and my attention really all on Andre I started to feel bad for Josie. I told Arnaud I was going to go upstairs with the baby and just let them enjoy dinner with Crush. He of course told me not to and I just said to him (but looking at the mean, unhappy couple) it’s people like them that are just getting to me. They looked at me the whole time I said that last line and even though I was talking with Arnaud, I said it while looking at them and I know they heard me because after that, she just smirked a bit and looked down.
So I went back to the room with my boy and sat on the floor and played with him. At this point, I thought……who was I kidding, thinking I could handle a trip like this with a 4yr old and an infant. What was I doing to my family? Josie had never had to share her Disney time with anyone ever………….this trip is going to be awful. This is truly how I felt at that very moment. I have to say also Josie wasn’t being a real gem all the time either. I’m not sure if it was overload, her ASD issues, the long day……….but she was very much not herself and a bit whiny. Just not listening type of behavior. I was so mad at letting the mean, unhappy couple get to me too. If you all really knew me, you would have been shocked that I even spent any time at all thinking about them and how ignorant they were to sit there and stare at me that way. Do you see me trying to stop my kid from squeaking, or am I just sitting there doing nothing?? Funny that nobody else seemed to care a whole lot. But, moving on, can I just tell you, ya know how there is always someone you run into all the time on a trip. YUP!! You guessed it, we saw them everywhere, no joke.
So Arnaud and my girl came back from dinner and said they had a great time, even with the mean, unhappy couple. The servers knew Josie didn’t like sweets so for dessert they came over with the biggest bowl of applesauce ever. She was in heaven. Arnaud felt bad that we left, but really I was fine now and after him and I talking about it, we caved into the idea of maybe taking him to the nursery. So we take a walk and go to check it out. Those ladies are so lovely in there and they checked to see if they had a time for Andre tomorrow night during our dinner. They did, and we agreed to take the opening. She also talked us into booking some more times, just in case we would need them. So I told her I didn’t want to eat without him on pirate night, but after dinner we would drop him off. Then again for 2 hrs one afternoon during his naptime on the last day of the cruise. I didn’t know how I felt about it, but looking around, everyone else was doing it, so I thought we would try.
Also, I went back up to the spa at this point to cancel my treatment. With Andre being a weirdo at eating times and Josie still not being on such great behavior, I didn’t want to leave Arnaud alone with both of them. So of course he is trying to talk me out of doing this, but I win and get us up to the spa to cancel. Between him and the girl at the desk, they convince me to push it back to around 1pm, drop Josie at the kids club and then my men can have some “guy” time. OK, if you all say so. But while we were there, I asked the girls if this movement of the ship was that normal, she told me on a 4 nighter it is. They are hauling butt to get to Nassau and that sometimes makes it rough. She said the last night is always much calmer because they are taking their time getting back. Remember I said that last line later on OK???
After that we went back to the room to put him to bed and then Josie and I were off to see Golden Mickey’s! The show was fabulous and she was just so happy to finally see Rapunzel. After the show we saw Donald was out for pics, so that was a nice surprise to the end of this day.
Back to the room again and we got ready for bed too. Josie loved her own little bed and Arnaud was happy after just polishing off a Mickey Bar from room service.
I laid down and snuggled into bed and OH MY GOD!!! This bed was incredible. I am a sucker for great linens and pillows and this was truly a dream. Not kidding folks, I told Arnaud we are finding out who makes those pillows, duvet and sheets because this gal wants them!!! Sleep was feeling so good right now after this very long day!! The rocking of the ship was kinda nice at this time too. But we couldn’t help from laughing at the sound of the hangers clanging around in the closet.
Sorry about the rude couple. That is just uncalled for. It sounds like you guys had a long first day on the ship, I hope it gets better as the trip goes on!
great update !!! Sorry for those mean people I love kids too much to ever make mean faces usually im the creepy girl who is oohing and aaahhing over babies !
