Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 15 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Saturday Oct 15th Well 4am came around pretty quick I have to say, but Arnaud and myself got up and dressed and finished all the last minute packing. Then it was off to get the kids…..I put Josie to bed the night before in her “real clothes” in hopes it would make things a bit quicker, she thought it was funny and in the end, it worked like a charm!! Andre it didn’t matter much since I would be changing his diaper anyway. We hit the road just before 5am and were off. Halfway there I realized, it’s a Saturday, we don’t normally travel on the weekends, I asked Arnaud if he thought the security would be busy. He said he didn’t think so and we would be fine. Famous last words. We pull into the offsite parking and head onto the shuttle and off to check our bags skycap with the SWA guys. All going good so far. Head upstairs and then……..duh, duh, duh……….massive line for security. I looked for a family line, but they didn’t have one set, so ok……we wait. Honestly I never thought I would miss a flight before but that thought was really going through my head. The line was taking forever, the kids were starting to lose it. I busted out a bottle for Andre and fed him while in line, so that worked in our favor. Finally we get through and we set off to find our gate. Oh, the very last gate in the terminal too by the way. We get there and see they started boarding, OK, no worries we got B 5-6-7. We stopped at the desk to get our gate check tag for the stroller when some attendant came charging at me saying “You are family boarding, go get in line NOW!” Alright lady, I’m going. Arnaud stayed behind with the stroller and I head off to the line with this lady and walk right onto the plane. Found 3 seats kinda far back and waited for Arnaud. We were all set and ready for takeoff. I have to tell ya, my fear of losing it on the hubs and pulling out the cranky never even had a chance to happen. So all was good in my book. We were off flying the friendly skies, 2 happy kids who spent their time either playing games, pulling at our faces, eating or sleeping. A short 2 hrs later we landed in sunny Florida. I have to say this is one of those times that maybe it would be nice to travel with family members. To maybe take a pic of us all flying together or something. But for whatever reason, I always forget to take a plane pic. I really think it’s because A. I’m a terrible nervous flyer and can’t even think about where the darn camera is OR B. I’m what I like to call an “ugly flyer”. You know as the flight goes on you get uglier by the minute. The face starts getting dry, the hair is looking greasy, clothes a wrinkled mess and my lips get cracked to no end. I come off the plane looking a hot mess. It irks me when I see these people walk off the plane fresh as a daisy. I want to be them. We found our way down to DME, waited in a short line and were boarded on a bus to the BC. Which just so happened, the bus wanted to stop at POR, Swan/Dolphin, BW and then the BC!!!!! Go to check in, the room was ready, this was now starting to turn out great. The resort was sooo lovely and our room was perfect too. I really was liking the BC at this point. We got settled and got our GG order all put away. The only thing to do next was the 2 little missions I had in mind. #1 checking to see if there was a BB offer in the room and #2 heading down to Hurricane Hannah’s. I wanted a kid’s meal for Josie so I could take that little bucket and shovel on the ship for CC!! Always thinking ahead! The BB offer was there and it was for free dining for next year around the same dates. We took that info with us, priced out BC, AKL and the GF. We decided to talk it over the rest of the day and decide what we thought we wanted to do, but as most of you know we later went with the GF and booked that just before we checked out the next day. Nothing like starting your vacation while already looking ahead to the next. HH, first order of business, some food and a FAB!!!
However I have to say my beloved mango margarita was just OK. Not horrible because I did drink it. Josie got her kids meal, I grabbed a hot dog and Arnaud had a burger. All was good. Let’s throw that whole wait 30 minute before you swim rule out the window and hit this super cool SAB!!! AMAZING! This pool really is something. That little sandbar section was perfect for my babies.
We splashed around in that for quite some time, even heading over to the hot tub area too. We took Josie over to that small slide for the kids, but she wasn’t too keen on it, so back to the sand dunes we went. We really enjoyed this pool so much. After a while, I could tell Andre needed a nap and Josie too. So we wandered around and found our way back to the room where we showered off and then all laid down for a quick little nap. First day on vacation with 2 little ones was moving right along, and it was feeling good.

OMG!!! This fits me to a T as well!!! I will say though, that I do use the camera on the plane as a distraction from my nerves, for a little bit a least. I also make sure I never take pictures of myself...unless someone sneaky takes a picture while I'm sleeping, but that's the only way it will happen. I honestly don't know why I bother trying to make myself look nice before I get on the plane since it all goes to hell in a hand basket by the time we get there.
Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying your time at BC. It's such a beautiful resort and SAB is awesome! Can't wait to read more to see what else you got yourselves into.
