As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

I have had surgery on both of my feet to cure the fasciitis. Last year, the surgery had to be done by going in the bottom instead of laparoscopy. Doctor said it would take up to a year to properly heal.
I had to always wear a shoe, crocs or whatever for support. Going to Disney was a pain, literally(but I did it, several times), shopping especially at Walmart was excruciating.
Finally I made up my mind I was going to go back and see him. I had my DH put an "X" where the pain was the worst.
He took one look at my foot and said "you have neuroma!". Oh? Well that was a big weight off my shoulders because that pain hurt so much and I would try to correct it so it made my entire foot hurt, which made me think my surgery site wasn't healed all the way. Evidently Neuroma is very common in people who have Plantar Fasciitis.
I told him that I had a big Disney trip/cruise coming up and I didn't want to do anything yet. So he gave me a cortisone shot in the top of my foot right between the middle and next to last toe. The worst past about it was the cold spray.....until the numbness wore off, then it hurt for 3 days then it stopped and my foot felt normal!
Two weeks later I had another one and same thing. Now that I have returned from the trip I was ready to start to cure the Neuroma.
I am getting 5 shots over a period of 10 weeks. The shots will deaden that nerve and then I won't have pain like that ever again in that foot!!
The shot is 96% anesthetic and 4% alcohol which acts as poiison for the nerve.
It is already worth it because after 1day of numbness 1 day of pain, I am feeling great! It's been years since my feet haven't worked.
So if you are still having trouble with your foot, talk to your doctor about Neuroma. Symptoms are:tingling, burning or numbness, pain, or a feeling that something is inside the ballot your foot or there is a rise in the shoe or that the sick is bunched up.
I had every single one of those and more than one trip I needed to use a cane, it hurt that bad.

Did the surgery work? My Dad has severe PF in both feet and can barely walk at times, but doesn't think anything can be done...

Surgeries worked great! The one in 2007 I haven't had trouble with at all. The one last year on the other foot just took longer to heal due to the type of surgery(cutting instead of laser). And then that neuroma had me thinking my foot wasn't healed all this time.
Tell your dad to have the surgery, one foot at a time. He will feel like a new man!!

I have had problems with PF in one foot or the other over the last few years. Luckily, I've always been able to work on it pretty much on my own and get through it. I have a new thing with numbness in two of my toes on and off since August. I finally decided a podiatrist was warranted to find out about it. Apparently I need orthotics to keep my whole foot better aligned. I've got bones that are pushing on a nerve. So, I've been waiting five weeks for those orthotics to come in. I'm hoping this will also be helpful in keeping the PF from flaring up this winter (usual time it shows up).

I just recently found out I had PF. I went to my local clinic and they x-rayed and found I have 2 bone spurs. They gave me a cortisone shot and its been great ever since. I'm glad you are doing better. Thanks for your story as well. If I have to have the surgery later then at least I won't be so nervous. on continuing to have happy feet.
