Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, we don't have much planned since we are just hanging at the resort. So I'll PM you my cell and if a quick little meet could work out, great!! I know zilch about BC so I'd be going off what you suggest for a meeting spot. We did want to wander around the BW, just to see if it matches up to what we are used tooHmmm. maybe you could be our "runner".....Arnaud was saying how excited he was to be staying next to Epcot so we could go over and grab a Grey Goose and Grand Marnier slush, until I reminded him " we are not getting park ticket's spanky!!!!!!" I am kidding of course. My Josie would just flip over meeting you I am sure
I'd love to bring you and Arnaud a Grey Goose and Grand Marnier slush, but you can't carry alcoholic beverages out of the park. And I haven't been to the real Jersey shore ( right?), but I do love Disney's version of the Boardwalk. There's a lot to do. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Isn't it fun to prepare for a trip with a baby & a toddler?! I know it's NOT! Lukas has the same amount of teeth - and got them about 9 months and we haven't gotten anymore, but I have a feeling that will be changing all too soon as we are experiencing the same things you are. I think I was awake from 1-3am this morning with one or the other of the boys.
Here's hoping your alcohol doesn't run out too soon!
FINALLY caught up. Just one tip I'll throw in from our first cruise MANY years ago. On the family/50th anniversary cruise, my wonderful in-laws booked us for second seating dinner (it's just a habit for them since that's what they like on other cruises) but didn't take into consideration our then 6yo (has it REALLY been 9 years already) just couldn't make it through dinner without falling asleep. So the second night we wised up and got him dinner from the quick service BEFORE the show and then he had an appetizer with the family and then we took him down to the oceaneers club and left him off. When we picked him up around 11:30 (ok, we took some adult time too) he was fast asleep on a mat. Worked out GREAT for ALL of us. So I HIGHLY recommend letting the kids have some down time in the evening at the clubs. Works great for everybody. Now getting a nursery ressie might be a bit more difficult, but one they're asleep, babies are a lot more portable.
Can't wait to hear about all the fun stuff that you did on the Dream.

I'm so sorry you're stressing about some of the cruise stuff. Just to put your mind at ease a bit, we took the early seating, thinking that would be better for Hope's schedule. WRONG! She would always be ready to pass out right before we were supposed to go to dinner, so while trying to enjoy our meal she was a major grump. If it got bad one of us would leave the restaurant until the other one was finished eating, and our other tablemates didn't seem to mind this. I guess it was better than allowing her to cry the whole time. I'm like you, good table manners is important, so if there is another kid at your table who is just not doing the same, make sure Josie is seated in a spot where she can't really see what's going on and maybe she won't pick up on the bad habits. Hopefully you won't have to deal with it because I'm sure the other parents are feeling the exact same way you're feeling now.
I'm soooo excited to follow along, as we are not cruising til May and I'm soaking up every bite of info and excitement I can until then. I especially LOVE the part about the text and being a "good wife"..LOL!! I did the same thing as SOON as my husband finished the "ess" sound in saying Yes to my proposed vacay plan. (Dream 4 nights in May followed by 2 nts at Pop Century w a trip to MK) I never procrastinate when the gettins good! ha! Looking forward to reading on...
Have a Magical day!

OH GOD NOOOOO, please don't think we are Snooki and Pauly D here I am guessing the BW might be like AC was bak in it's hay day.

Hello there!!! I was able to get the early dinner. And you are so right, babies are more portable while sleeping. I have a strong feeling though he won't be making the 8pm shows. Hmm......I wonder if he'll be upset

Thanks
It's funny because this early/late dinner thing has sooo many different opinions and it all comes down to what the little one wants at that said time. See the abover poster. We did get the early seating which is 6 or 6:15 I think. That "should" work, we eat around that time every night and my kids are both in bed by 8pm. Now on a vacation, I let that slide a bit of course. But I am being stick with a nap for both while on the ship. Anywhere between 3-5. We shall see though.............

Hey there and thanks for jumping in.
Yes, all "good wife's" should jump at any mention of a vacation of ANY kind
You trip sounds great and I will try to report back as much as I can on our 4 night Dream!!
Just joining here in the fun! You have some great plans for your vacation. Have fun with packing and last minute planning! Hope those 16 days go flying by quickly!
Great PTR! We aren't cruising until next August, but I love to hear about all your planning and adventures! Don't stress about the kids in the clubs - they love it and it gives you and hubby a little down time to relax.
PS - where in South Jersey are you from? We're from North Jersey - West Milford - and we vacation every summer in Stone Harbor. We just love it there!
Yikes! That's a lot of stress! But, like you said, this too shall pass and in 15 days you'll be on your way to Disney and a wonderful cruise! The boys and I were watching My Yard Goes Disney (I had taped a bunch) and saw the Dream and they were freaking out about the Aqua Duck and I told Jason Josie was going on that cruise with her family and he looked a lot like this .
( I had all good intentions of starting my PTR today while off for the holiday but ended up doing a bunch of laundry and lazing around with the boys watching MYGD and Tangled. I have to admit, I think it's because I'm stuck and can't think of a catchy title at all! And yes I got the text...they are very cool!)

Just had a chance to read more thoroughly... Love everything so far.. for a countdown we are using the Disney widget on our desktop as our fridge and most other surfaces are covered in Special School papers.
Love the FE... and the pillowcases.. super cute! (I really believe I am in the right place here as I LOVE to search for fun and different ways to enjoy things..) Thanks again for sharing!

Thanks, I'm OK if hubs and I don't get "adult" time. We don't when we go to the parks, so we should be used to that. BUT, if we do......then GREAT
LOVE SH, we are a little north of there, outside AC/Margate area

Ahhhh, Jason.....well you can tell him that Josie isn't even big enough to ride on that with an adult, so no stress buddy
I started to watch MYGD but had to stop. It annoyed me because I wanted that done to my yard
I'm teasing you on the TR, but try thinking in song titles. ( I always like that, can ya tell).................I'll come up with a few for ya

Keep reading whatever you can!!! That is how I learned about the FE and the pillowcases. Like I have said before, I only look around on the Disboard site, but that is where I learned of the FE. If you go to Etsy.com you can find those pillowcases. They really are cute.
Thanks everyone for the moral support. I think I was having a "moment" the other day. But Arnaud is flying home tonight and this will end my week of being a single mom to a toddler and infant. I give ALL single parents a big ol shout out!!! It ain't easy. I say this everytime he has to travel for work, I KNOW it's work and you have important meetings and presentations to make, but do you go to a nice dinner at the end of the day? Do you get to sleep in a bit? Do you have good adult conversation??? I know, I'm being a brat, but he did say I earned a special little treat from the spa on the ship!!!!!!
I think I have most of our clothing sorted out, I am going to start putting some toiletries into smaller bottles and sort all that stuff out tonight. I have been looking for a pair of dressy/casual sandals but I missed the boat on buying any of that since all that is out now are boots. I'm sure I'll find something that will work for all my dinner outfits in my closet
We have been going back and forth on DVC. Sometimes we are really into it, then at times we are like just forget it. I did get a letter in the mail to call and talk to someone and recieve a $25 GC..........hmmm, I can do that!!! So I did and had a lovely little chat with Judy. She sent me some brochures today in the mail so I plan to look over all that info tonight and start to maybe think about it again. We also know that we will be going to the parks next year around this same time again, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a nice BB offer. Looks like FD is being offered up until the end of Sep for next year. I think if we book on the last day of that it will extend for our whole trip?? Actually we like to go tuesdays-wednesdays so it might be like the 3rd to last day of the offer, we'll see. I was hoping for a room discount and not do the DP, but any deal will be OK with me. We are trying to have some dates in our heads, because we will only be in a WDW resort for 2 days, I want to have that nailed down.
The next 15 days should fly by, and to make it all more chaotic, another letter I got in the mail today was a meeting for Josie's IEP for this year at pre-school. When did they set that up for you ask? Oh, the day before we leave, uugghhhh.......you mean my brain has to be on an important meeting and not getting the house together, kids to bed, finishing "crap" and whatever else comes up. NICE!
