Come sail away, Come sail away, Come sail away with me TR Completed 2/8/2012 - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I agree that the children's clubs looks AMAZING! I took a tour of them when I was on the Magic, and I kept thinking that if I were a kid I would never want to leave. I can only imagine what they must be like on the Dream. I'm like you though. Why would I want to drop my child off when it's a "family" vacation. When we took Hope at 8 months old, she stayed with me the whole time. Now that she's getting older, I may have thought about it a bit more. She probably wouldn't want to leave once she was there!

Ever since I had Sam, I switched to the tankini but its the ones with the skirted bottoms from lands end, they are called like skirt mini or something, not like down to your thigh or knee skirt but just over the butt and the tops that go with them are extra cute too.

Thanks for joining in. I am getting super excited .....
You are really getting close now. I have starter piles as well for weeks before I actually do the packing just little things I know we need. Those kids clubs do look amazing, I was watching one of the cruise videos with Angel the other day and I wish I was a kid - I don't think I would ever want to leave.

I want to go to the club!!! I've thought about getting a Fairy Godmother at WDW for the last couple of trips and it's actually Craig that says, why would we leave our boys when we're on a family vacation. I'll talk him into it one of these days. But, I KNOW they'd love the kid clubs on the cruise. They look incredible!
Organizer??!! What organizer!? You guys are holding out on organizers for a color-coded 3-ring binder planner like myself!? Need info.

I think they have an age limit on the Oceaneers Club...but let me know how it works out.

My plan right now is to start at DHS, pop over to Epcot for some nibbling and then head back to DHS to catch the late Fantasmic. I think I might be able to stop at the BC on one of those trips between parks!

All caught up and now I've completely forgotten what I was going to say!
The autograph book was nice - he didn't get into that, but liked meeting the characters. We pretty much handed the books to the characters.
Lukas LOVED the shows, rides - anything with music. He'd bounce & clap and yell out in excitement. I'm sure Andre will too!
You're so close now! It'll be here before you know it!

Oh, the piles are endless right now. Adult stuff, todler stuff, baby stuff........we use to travel so much more, I forget what it;s like to just travel alone. It's all good in the end though and wouldn't trade it for a second.

I sent you a text of the organizer, did you get it.
Age limit??? WHAT, how dare they cap it off

Your kiddos are adorable! And your countdown turned out pretty darn good for a "non-crafty" person!
I like your FE and the pillowcases. They are really cute.
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoy my ramblings

Well, we don't have much planned since we are just hanging at the resort. So I'll PM you my cell and if a quick little meet could work out, great!! I know zilch about BC so I'd be going off what you suggest for a meeting spot. We did want to wander around the BW, just to see if it matches up to what we are used tooHmmm. maybe you could be our "runner".....Arnaud was saying how excited he was to be staying next to Epcot so we could go over and grab a Grey Goose and Grand Marnier slush, until I reminded him " we are not getting park ticket's spanky!!!!!!" I am kidding of course. My Josie would just flip over meeting you I am sure

Ahh, that's great Lukas loved everything. I think Andre will be OK with most. BUT ya never know how these little ones take to the characters though. Should be interesting. He is a mamma's boy, that is for sure. So maybe if I am with him for all the meets might help...........who knows???
Hey gang, thanks for sticking with me here. I don't have much to update, other than STRESSSSSSSS!!!
I did place our Garden Grocer order today. Just alot of baby stuff, diapers, food, wipes etc......oh and booze. I didn't want any wine or vodka taking up space in our luggage and GG will pick that up for us as well, so that's taken care of. Thank god right????
I did my usual fashion with grouping together some color matching outfits for dinner. As many of you may know from my past TR, I tend to do that. Makes for a nice photo I think. With the cruise, I only did it for dinner's as our days are pretty much kicking back by a pool or some splash area.
The stress has started to set in however. Andre is just about 9 months and he has 6 teeth. Right before they have all come in, he has gotten super cranky for a few days and them BAM. Tooth! I am not sure what's up with him right now, but he has kinda been in crank mode right before a nap and sometimes even bedtime. I'm just gonna have to roll with it, really......what else can you do.
Josie has been a bit off as well. It doesn't help that she has been moved to the afternoon pre school class. That time of day just really jacks up our whole daily routine. I guess it's just an adjusting period and we will learn to work something out, but any after school activities I have her in just really cause for more chaos. Arnaud is away for work right now, my inlaws are in Paris, something in my fridge smells and I can't figure it out, my body hurts from a stupid kettle bell class I took, and work is just making me nuts............AARRGGGG. BUT, this too shall pass and we will all be on a fabulous cruise in just 3 more weeks.
Another main thing that has started to creep on me is having dinner with other familes. We are all really outgoing people and love to meet people from everywhere. But one thing Arnaud and I both made very clear before having kids was that we wouldn't let that stop us from doing stuff. Like eating out or traveling for that matter. We take our kids out to eat, alot, and I mean everywhere. We take them to nice places but go at earlier times as to not annoy other people. I have to say, my kids are great with this too. I make sure to keep them happy with things to keep them busy and Josie knows to order her food from the servers like a champ. I have been stressing to Josie good table manners for the cruise and she gets it. However she will, like any other 4 year old, fall back into bad habits if around another kid who might not have the same as her. I so hope our tablemates have kids with manners too. This is one thing we are looking forward to on the ship, and I really would hate to have it go downhill because of another rowdy kid at the table. So once my TR actually starts, I probably won't talk much about it. You never know who is reading this and I wouldn't want to talk smack on anyone. So let's just hope for the best, right?
The other thing that has been on my mind is the plane. We have a special seatbelt for Josie that converts to a 5 point harness. For Andre, well, I plan on putting him in our Bjorn and attach to either me or Arnaud. Keeps him safe from turbulence and keeps our hands free to tend to other things. He however is a tank right now, so I don't plan on it being to comfy. I think this is our only option to keep him safe. I did this before with Josie on a bus from AC-NYC and it worked great. We shall see.
So that's all I got right now.
I am sure there will be much more in the next few weeks.
