Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

her response: (she first asked how old your DD is, and i didn't remember so i couldn't tell her) if your daughter is rational enough (read: old enough) to fully understand (when you tell her) that it's 'just a movie' and that she's 'not really flying through space' AND if she's old enough to listen to you when you say 'keep your head back against the head rest', she'll be fine. if not, she might be scared. the scariest part for my mom was that you actually think you're going to hit something (or something is going to hit you) but you're not. (which is why she thinks it is important for your daughter to understand all she explained above.)

did that help?
That did help. Great explanation, Mom. Thank you! She'll be 9, almost 10 (hence the special mom/daughter trip). She'll totally understand it's a movie and not real. (Heck, one day I jokingly said the Harry Potter books are non-fiction, she totally argued with me that they are, in fact, fiction. I was so hoping it was all real, talk about a downer. ) I'll tell her to keep her head on the head rest then. Good advice, thank you!!

Enjoy MK and seeing the castle today. You'll finally feel like you've arrived.

it was better today at the magic kingdom. they practically air condition the outside there--and almost all of the rides are inside. a much better day. i didn't even get sunburned (and i forgot the spf today!)

as an added bonus, all of MK was decorated for halloween. it was SO PRETTY. i've seen it half decorated for christmas, and i have to say that i prefer halloween. main street USA looks so pretty! i'll post some photos later in the week--once i take some!

i did do splash mountain, but didn't get as soaked as last time. the water jet that goes off as the other logs descent (do you know what i'm talking about?) didn't go off, and that's where i got the most wet last time. but it was still fun--and a bit refreshing!

today's highlight--being cheered up by mickey's philharmagic. i was a bit cranky this morning, and yet found it impossible to not smile at that show. we saw it twice (not in a row, but still!)

other highlight--actually watching the show at the base of the castle this afternoon (i don't know what it was called, but it was a lot about 'dreams') which i'd usually not stop to see but my mom wanted to--it was really cute!!!

today's lowlight--missing our meal at narcoosse's because we couldn't get there from the TTC. i didn't want to take the monorail from the park to GF because then we'd be trying to leave TTC right as MK was closing (which sounded like a nightmare) so we tried to drive from the TTC parking lot to GF...which is not possible. you simply cannot get there from there. i guess the bright side to that was that we ended up having a very cheap meal at the outback (and thus saved money) but i was very upset about having messed up my mom's last night special meal. she said she didn't care--she's not a food person like i am--plus she was paying, so i effectively saved her $70 or so! but still--a bummer!

tomorrow's plan is to take my mom to the airport and do some work that doesn't involve park-going--though i may stop by epcot for a bit, depending upon the weather.

Wow! So glad you didn't fry to a crisp, given the forgotten spf!
Mom's stay sure went fast (too me at least! )!
And yes, I knew exactly to which jet of water you were referring! (that doesn't seem right grammatically, and I'm stressed about bringing out the teacher in you!)

it went quickly for my mom, too!

and no worries on the grammar--did you SEE my own errors in the description of the splash? i may be a teacher, but i'm one of those new-fangled teachers that knows that sometimes grammar doesn't have to be perfect (and doesn't even use capital letters!)

it's ok--my mom was perfectly happy with the outback!

and philharmagic is my favorite 3-D attraction, too! my husband and i skipped it on our first visit--because i'd read somewhere that it was cheesy--but i LOVE it! i'm sure i'll see it again several times before i leave!

so today was supposed to be my 'off' day, as i've been in parks for the past four days straight (and it is HOT! and i am TIRED!) but of course i couldn't stay away! so i spent 5-ish hours in epcot this morning! but now i'm back in the AC, getting other work done. yay for AC!

today's highlights...and yes, there are more than one....

1. doing Sum of All Thrills for the very first time! i've always wanted to do this but was hesitant because there was typically a line--and i think the line moves very slowly. but i walked into innoventions today to find ZERO LINE! so i did it--and it was SO NEAT. i went kind of middle of the road on the thrill part--though i did allow inversions (and it does flip you upside down!) it's kind of hard to believe that an attraction like this exists without attracting much fanfare. it's SO COOL. did i mention that i loved it???

2. wandering around WS being vaguely hungry and contemplating food...and then realizing i was standing in front of the caramel shop in germany! can you say caramel covered peanut butter cookie??? it was so good--possibly rivaling school bread as my favorite sugary snack in epcot! seriously--i don't eat sweets in real life. there's just something about disney!

3. finally going into the spirited beasts display in japan. i never knew that anime came from actual mythological creatures. it was VERY enlightening!

Sorry you missed your meal. I'm sure you and your mom will be back there again soon to try again, right?

On my one and only trip to WDW (so far), Philharmagic was down for refurb, and I was so bummed! I really hope to see it on my next trip as so many people give it great reviews!

Sounds like fun at Epcot, I can spend countless afternoons wandering the WS and never get bored.
epcot is the one park i can do from open to close--though i have to admit, i've not been able to even get close to that on this trip. this heat is intense!
