A Dream That Came True! The First Timers TR - COMPLETED 9/10 - Page 21 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

He has definitely taken the "prince" thing to heart lol. He even had to teach his grandpa how to be a prince when we got home!

Akershus really was like walking into a storybook, it was wonderful!
Since this was our last day, I decided to let Scottie pick whatever he wanted to do that we hadn't had a chance to do.
We checked out and handed our bags to Bell Services until our DME pickup at 5pm. We grabbed a danish at Old Port Royale and headed for the buses. We grab the first bus to HS in time for the park opening. I was determined to make the Jedi Training as this was our last chance! While we were waiting for the park to open, I began talking to the couple behind us. Guess what??? The husband was planning on running his son to the Jedi Training as well and agreed to take Scottie with him since my feet were bad!! Scottie was so excited, I just knew this time he would get in!
The park opened and off they ran!
When I arrived there was already a huge line, but here comes Scottie, he had already signed in and would be in the First Show! He was so excited! Since he was in the first show, we were herded off immediately for a surprise meet and greet with none other than Darth Vader himself!
As the kids got set up for the show, I went to get a spot to videotape. I was handed a card with a number on it, which I was to take to the photo shop at the entrance to the park so that I could get pictures added to my photopass card!! Yes!! They actually had a photopass photographer set up there to take photos for us! They turned out fantastic too!
After the show, I asked Scottie what he wanted to do next...and it was off to Epcot. He really wanted to do the Seas with Nemo ride and Turtle Talk with Crush. The seas was a cute ride but Turtle Talk was awesome!! Scottie still tells everyone about that one.
We took a few more holiday pictures and some of the decorations....
and then it was off to MK...Scottie still had one last dream to make come true!

Just getting all caught up! What a great magical moment with Snow White and then again with all the Princesses at dinner! And I'm so glad that Scottie finally got to do the Jedi Training. The pictures are awesome!!
Congrats to Scottie on getting into the Jedi Academy! And how sweet that the Dad took him along with them. You all are making the very most of your last day, already 2 parks and one more to go.
Great pictures from your day! Looks like Scottie had a great time at JTA!
He had a fantastic time and I am so grateful that I was able to get him in as this would be the last year he would be allowed due to the age restriction.

I will forever be grateful to that gentleman for helping Scottie to get there in time. I felt so bad because after all that, his son got too scared of Darth Vader and chickened out!
We get to MK and grab a train straight to Toontown where we get in line to see Fairies and Princesses! Scottie was dying to get Cinderella's autograph and I just adore Tinkerbell lol. We decide to see the Fairies first because the line seemed to be moving a bit faster. After a 75 minute wait, we finally see Fairies!!
Then Scottie is still determined to see his precious Cinderella, but I am worn out, so I wait in the sitting area while he stands in line for another 75 minutes!! He came out accompanied by a CM who told me how charming my son was and how all the princesses adored him! God I love being his mom!!!
Apparently, he completely charmed Cinderella by telling her how he just couldn't leave WDW until he had seen her and the CM took pictures for Scottie as well as the photopass photographer.
We realize that we are running close on time so we head to the buses and back to Old Port Royale to use up the last of our food credits on snacks to take home. We jump on the internal bus to the Customs House just in time! The DME bus was there and loading! Bell Services got our bags loaded for us and we sat down to finally relax lol. Scottie fell asleep immediately! We get to the airport and find out our flight was delayed and we may not make our connection in Atlanta! But at this point, I'm just going with everything calmly, until I find out they messed up on our seating and had Scottie ten rows behind me! I went to the desk and explained the mistake and we got upgraded to Business Class! Talk about flying in comfort! It was fabulous!
We arrived in Atlanta and discovered that our connecting flight had been delayed as well so we were still two hours ahead of it. By the time we arrived in Dallas it was 1am! Poor dad lol, he had to come get us and take us home. We got home by 2am and finally I was able to crawl into bed by 3am. Exhausted but totally overjoyed! We definitely had a Magical trip and will never forget it. In fact, we're trying to plan a second trip with DH this time and possibly the GP's as well!
Scottie is a man after my own heart. So glad Cinderella came through for him in the end and how magical that the Princesses made a fuss over him and posed for a special picture. May Scottie never lose his respect and admiration for the Princesses.
