Make your choice Adventurous Stranger...A Goin Solo PTR - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

So Like we say Look here CupCake time to put on the BIG shorts and stop being such a PANSY The chicken door is right behind you and no shame taking the smarter way out

Did you just call me a JackWagon and send me off to MambyPamby Land???
That's ok, I'm alright with it. You are NEVER going to get me on that ride AGAIN!!

Can you "handle" the teacups? That is the only ride I've found that is a "never again" for me (of course I had a DS12 and DD14 trying to turn the cup as fast as they could).
Hey I thought you were a progressive person not a Geico person (you jack wagon)
hee hee hee. you got me! I may love Flo but Geico has some hysterical commercials!

I actually go on the teacups but no one is allowed to spin at all. We actually go reverse, we try to stop it from spinning by holding on to the wheel as tight as we can. Don't judge, I'm weird. Mission: Space is a no no too. It was not a good day after that one.
Well, I tried to buy the Tables in Wonderland card today but I actually need an activated AP for that so I'll pick it up in October.
So, with the money burning a hole in my pocket, I bought the Pre Arrival PhotoPass CD. I do this every trip because it's such a deal especially now that they've added the bonus photos. I will definitely be needing it for this trip since I won't have anyone to take photos of me.
I have a list of characters that I haven't been photographed with including: Beast, Belle in her blue dress, Marie, Eeyore, Piglet (yeah, good luck getting the last two without a character meal), Peter Pan, Hook, the Dwarves, pretty much any villian and I hope to rectify that at MNSSHP.
When it comes to characters, I'm silly because I prefer to "spot" them on the street like a celebrity sighting rather than a "canned" meet at a character meal. For instance, I still remember WAY back on my first trip, I didn't see Mickey. I don't recall seeing many characters but I was all about the Cheese back then. It was on my second trip when I spotted him walking thru Liberty Square with a handler obviously not in the mood to get a pic taken. I was crushed that I didn't get to meet him BUT I saw him. I saw Mickey Mouse (in tails no less). Couldn't be more starstruck if Johnny Depp walked by me (not now, I mean just to put it in relevant terms - ok back then let's say Shawn Cassidy, oh geez I just really dated myself).
I told myself that I wouldn't go for character pics this trip but I lied. I'm going by myself so that means pics with them and me, just me. How cool. I am a wee bit bummed that they won't be around for EMH anymore but I do have the Party.

Sound choice on Photopass you'll still get shots to remember your trip and if you can catch some of the Characters well then you won't be the only character in the picture.
Still remember my first character encounter we had just entered MK on very first trip and walked right into Winnie the Pooh just beyond firehouse Next up Mr Smee and Capt. Hook just over bridge by Swiss Fam Robinson Tree House
Congratulations on the extra money - always feels gret knowing you have the ticket moeny up front, paid for and done. Had to laugh as your described your name ring...I had one too in high school, bu it met the gold seller some time back, had to laugh at myself for ever wearing the thing
Well this morning has been quite eventful. Started dialing 407-WDW-FEST at 7am and after 22 minutes of trying I got "through" to be on hold for 43 minutes. I actually made it into work before a CM answered. No bother.
I booked the Party for the Senses online. Great, whoo hoo. However, Wine View Lounge cannot be booked online - hence the phone call. Yes, I know I said I was going to hold off on WVL but I figured what the heck? I'm going solo and I'm still celebrating my 40th so go for it! I was told once you book a Premier Event, the ressie cannot be cancelled or MODIFIED!! But there was pixie dust in the air this morning and I got it approved!!
This is it, I swear. No more adding events. I thought maybe a culinary demo but after the boring beverage seminar from last year I decided against it. I tossed around the idea of Tequila Tasting but $45 for one hour - I know tequila better than wine, spend that on a bottle. Possibly Pizza & Beer Tasting but I do that on a weekly basis. The ONLY item I thought might peak my interest is the Grand Marnier Tasting in France but it's on the same day at P4TS and I don't know if I'm up for DHS EMH at 8am, then adding the GM Tasting 2:30-4 AND do P4TS at 7:15, plus do a mini PPer meet around 11am. Nope, too much.
Ok, back to work. I'm the only one in the office until 11. Time to crank some Disney tunes!!!
