As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Ah, gotcha! I kinda thought that's what you were saying when you said that was all you were going to say but I wasn't sure.
I thought for sure with my comment and the smilie that it would dawn on you guys what I was saying. And for those not sure by the comment, with all the posts in between they'll see if they thought the same as you, that they're correct in their thinking.
Sorry about Lenny's grumpiness. It really does make things not go as well when someone is grumpy. Perhaps, he has not yet caught up on his sleep? I hope it improves for everyones sake. Aside, from Lenny's attitude, looks like the 3rd time at Ohana was a charm and that you won't have to write it off. Hopefully, the next time you go, service and moods will all be in sync for the positive.
Oh, and as for the sunglasses....oh my! I hate it when things like that happen. When I'm searching and searching and then they were in an obvious spot all along. I hope that didn't make Lenny more irritated. I'll be waiting to read more.
I've had breakfast at O'Hana's a few times now. Each time the service has been either so-so or bad. I've given it a fair chance, but I won't go back. Too bad, because I love to see Stitch and Lilo! Not worth it for the food either. There are other places that have better breakfasts with Character interactions and I can always find my Stitch some place else!
I know how you feel about the prescription sunglasses! Mine are a couple years old and should be replaced, but the thought of spending the money... yeah, not "THERE" yet!
Ready for the next installment when you are!

So Glad you started your TR! I am happy your experience with airport security and Abby's first plane ride went so smoothly, and that you were able to sleep on the plane (I can never do that). Fantastic that you were able to get to Disney earlier than expected and that you had a good time at HDDR. Sorry it was such a long day and Abby had a meltdown at the end of it. BTDT.
Your next day at SeaWorld sounded wonderful. I have to ask you about the Disability passes - I did not know that had those, we purchased a regular ticket for our son in 2008 so I would love to know more about them and were you found the information as I want to go back in 2013. I am not surprised at all that you were able to collect so many pennies, you are Superb at that!
Sorry you lost your sunglasses and that Lenny was such a butt about it, but glad you found them in the end. BTDT as well.
I am happy that your experience is at O'hana's was much better this time but sad that Lenny ruined the experience for you. I hope that after all that the rest of your day was much better. Looking forward to finding out.
hooray for finding your sunglasses. I was thinking that they were sitting on top on a penny pressing machine on those last ones you hit while Lenny and Abby went to the car. but they were in the car all a long...... laughing at you and Lenny for arguing over them Sorry to hear that Lenny was in a foul mood and took it out on the Chef for not knowing to go to your table first. yikes!! I have a relative like that, he is such a great guy, but oh boy ... watch out when he is irritable
sorry that you had to deal with it on your vacation. Hope his mood improved as the time went on. I have wanted to do the Ohana Breakfast to see Stitch... but have yet to do it. Looks like Abby enjoyed it though. Loving your trip report and can't wait to read about some Disney Park adventures. maybe that is what Lenny needs.. a couple spins on Its a small World to put the magic in for him.. looking forward to more adventures... and hang on to the those sunglasses

Sorry Lenny was in an irritable mood. I can be that way sometimes when something gets under my skin, but I try to see it from my DH's and the kids' point of view and get my emotions under control so I don't ruin it for everyone. Hope his mood improves as the day progresses.
I'm glad you found the sunglasses, but sorry you had to waste time driving to Sea World and going through the process there! That totally sounds like something that would happen to me too!
Can't wait to hear what your first full Disney day brings!
Hmmm, I am guessing that your glasses are in the car! I've done that countless times with my not-so-cheap splurge sunglasses. And not to start the husband bashing, but don't you love how they are "allowed" to be grumpy and ruin things for everyone, but you are never "allowed" to have an off day? That's how it is in our family. Oh, and everything that goes wrong is somehow your fault!! Men!
Glad you found your glasses! I lost a pair of prescription sunglasses at Daytona Beach one year. I'm hoping they were the right prescription for the shark that found them.

I hear you about the cost of prescription eyeglasses. I've given up on them and now just wear inexpensive fitover sunglasses I found online. They cost me just $10 so if I lose them, I won't fret. I have transition lenses, but they aren't always dark enough for me, and they don't work my car because of the tinted windows. The fitovers work great. I can even wear them around my neck using one of those "old lady" cords and put them on and off easily. Next time you need a change of prescription, you might want to check them out. For me, they're the answer to the issue of sunglasses and prescription glasses.
Sorry Lenny is being so grumpy. I hope his mood improves for the rest of the trip.
Just caught up with your TR. So happy you started it not that long ago!! haha
Sorry your trip started out so rough Poor Abby had had an early Disney meltdown but I'm glad she decided to go to Sea World anyway! My dad used to work at Sea World, many years ago, and we used to go all the time and let me tell you, I've had my fix of Sea World to last me a while
Sorry about Lenny's mood. Hopefully it gets better!
Oh gosh, I'm sorry about the sunglasses, because you either laugh about it and it becomes a silly family memory - or it adds to the grumpiness and you argue about whose fault it really is. I sure hope it was the first one...
I can't believe you're only at the beginning of the 3rd day! I'm exhausted already!
