The Two Week "Mini" Disney Vacation - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

That sounds like fun! What a great idea Chuck has, I can't wait to see the pics! for WAT. I am going to have to look that up today, as I really have no idea what that is.
I can believe that those people at Cedar Point asked you to take their pic, but I can't believe that the woman asked you to hold her purse. That is a little too much trust for me. You and Chuck must look very trustworthy!
I do know what the DWI is, and that sounds like fun! Hope you learn a lot of neat things, and share with us!
So cool that your going to be right on the monorail. That will save so much time for you guys!
We are doing OHana the first night we arrive, another suggestion by DisneyDana, as this is her fave meal at the world. She raved about it so much, I decided I had to try it. Plus DH will love it, big skewers of meat....um, yes please! Hmmm....can you tell that Dana had a little influence on me this year? I am hoping for leis as well. Ours from the luau in 2009 are a bit raggedy and not so white anymore. I have them hanging on my dresser mirror. I will let you know my experience with this ADR when I get back. I leave in 39 days!!!
Can't wait to hear more of your plans, they are sounding great so far. So much fun stuff planned!
All caught up! What great plans you have! 11/11/11 sounds like it will be a LONG day, but it will be memorable. Dine with an imagineer is AWESOME! DH & I did last year - so fun! And 3 hours is a pretty good time frame.
Congrats on getting your WAT booked!
I love you hubby's idea!!! I can't wait to see those fun pictures! You will have so much fun on that day!!!
Thanks! He even wants to get matching shirts for the day. We did for our photo session last year.

We will sleep well. I am so looking forward to it though.

We must look trustworthy! WAT is a "trek" through where the safari is in AK. You hike through the Maharajah Jungle Trek and see the gorillas etc. then you cross rope bridges over the Hippos and Alligators, then have a private safari onto the savannah with a stop for a meal in the middle of the savannah (a Boma). There's only like 12 people on it and you get a photo pass CD included. Everyone has given it thumbs up!
I am also looking forward to DWI. I think the minds behind all this are amazing.
O'Hana is new. The menu looked yummy. mmmmm- Meat skewers.

I am so looking forward to DWI! I'm glad it gets a thumbs up. It will be a long day but we are not going to do too much in each park so I think we can do it. Most of the time will be travel.

Sorry for the delay folks. Life happened. First my dog, Meg, has some sores on her leg making it hard for her to walk. These “magically” appeared after taking her to the groomer. I swear that lady nicked her and now they are infected! I’ve been doing warm compresses and cleaning them (as much as my people nursing knowledge works for dogs) Well, last night she was “trying” to do the stairs and couldn’t put pressure on her leg so she fell down the entire flight! I ended up carrying her (all 75 lbs) because she has to sleep by us. (she would have kept trying) So today I took her to the vet. She got a shot of antibiotics, a shot of steroids and the fur was trimmed and the wounds were cleaned. She’s going to be ok but it was a lot of fall-de-rall.
This is my Meg. She is 13 years old and a big BABY! But I her!
Then I had to work a 4 hour shift for another nurse. Her aunt died suddenly in a motorcycle accident and she needed coverage for the funeral. Didn’t want what happened to unewillow to happen here. So now, I’m finally home and have a chance to catch up.
So where were we? Saturday Nov 12: This day will be either at DTD or Epcot (more of the F&WF and Eat to the Beat) The only turn off to Epcot today is that it is the final weekend of F&WF and that means big crowds. I think Eat to the Beat is Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and DH loves them. We were going to hear them last year but if we had stayed we would have missed our ADR. And we started the phrase “There’s next year” a lot last time! Then our ADR is at 5:30 pm at Jiko. Back to our beloved AKL. We LOVE that place. It will always be special to us after last year. That WAS our honeymoon after all.
Sunday Nov 13: Our last full day will be another lazy play-it-by-ear day. Possibly DTD. The one thing I really, really, really want to do is see the Osborne Lights at DHS. Since DHS has evening EMH tonight and they don’t turn them on until 6 pm anyway - tonight we will plan on taking advantage of the EMH even if it is ONLY to see these lights. It is just amazing! We have an ADR at Yachtsman Steakhouse at 5:50 pm so afterward we can just take the boat on over.
Monday Nov 14: Check out and start our drive back home. We plan on driving farther today. Instead of just driving a few hours and stopping at the same hotel we stopped at on the way down, we will drive probably to northern GA or even TN. Then we can finish our drive on Tuesday Nov 15.
That’s it. That’s the plan. This too may be subject to change.
Coming up: Overview of ADR’s . I think we’ve only made ressies for like half of our allotment.
“You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” - Walt Disney
Lots of for Meg! She is a beautiful dog! More great plans!
Thanks Cam! Hard to believe that she was abandoned. My dad used to breed Goldens and said I could have one of his litter when I got a house. He died before that came to fruition unfortunately. So when I got a house, I got a golden. My first one was a pure bred with papers and everything. But she died at 9 years old and then within 2 months a friend found Meg and asked if I wanted another Golden. I didn't care that there were no papers, I'm not going to breed her. I just knew she needed me. She has been a sweetie girl ever since. And strangely she has a lot of the same quirks as my first Golden. All of our animals have been saved, strays or abandoned, and they are all wonderful. I'm sure she will be fine. Thanks for the pixies.
Love your plans
Have to say what a pretty girl your Meg is. Hopefully she isn't at the onset of displazia as Goldens are prone to that
Yeah, Mike. I was worried about hip displasia. But it seems that most of this is just pain from the infected wounds on her leg. And Thanks. She is gorgeous, but I'm partial.
