The Sunshine Family (and Little Dude) Does Disney Again! - PTR - Sept 2011 UPDATED 7/25 - Page 6 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I thought of you this afternoon while we were at a party. One of my coworkers had his annual birthday BBQ party and everyone brought their dogs. Merlin went all decked out in his Service Dog in Training vest and he was the biggest and best behaved dog there!! LOL Three of the other five dogs looked like Little Dude type dogs, and the other two were dachshunds. All of the little dogs kept barking at Merlin and he just laid there in the grass by DBF's chair or under the table when we went in to eat. He was so good. This was his first outing as a service dog so we felt it was a great success. But I kept thinking how those other little dogs were just not very well behaved, unlike Little Dude and Merlin.

I'm glad you get to see that training makes a huge difference in the boredom and yappyness of a dog. After a while Little Dude would only act out if I wasn't around (i.e. when he's at the groomer) or if his cape is off (he's officially off duty and gets to be a dog when his cape isn't on). When I'm not around he either gets really nervous and becomes a crazy dog or he falls asleep on one of my sweatshirts or bandannas.
Just tuning in here to your PTR - I'm sorry to hear about all the stress at your job but I do like your plans so far for Disney. Although I do have one teeny tiney bit of advice for you. Just because Stitch will have an ECV at DHS doesn't guarantee any of you seats in Fantamic. We went last year on a night when there were 2 shows and we got in line at 8 for the first one at 9. The theater was already at standing room only and it was difficult for the CM to find someplace to park Lenny's scooter where Abby and I could sit with him. We ended up almost all the way over to the left. Abby could sit next to Lenny on the bench but I had to sit in front of the two of them - and I think they were it was the last open ECV/wheelchair spot. I know you're going when Fantasmic will still be shown every night but I really don't know if this will help you or not in regards to seating but I did want to put it out there that an ECV won't guarantee you getting in or even getting seats (especially if it's standing room only).

Oh gees, thank you so much for that information. That would not have been fun to find out the hard way. Must think on this and figure out how to do this.....
An update!! Finally!! Didn't mean to go so long without a real update, but yesterday was shopping and tonight I had issues uploading my photos (then I realized that we were Netflix-ing, um, yeah that's why there is no network to upload files. DOH!!! )
So, what did we get? Somehow I knew you were going to ask that
Ok, so we got stuff to decorate our room when we get there!! We got some of that yellow poster tacky stuff to hang up the following:
Yes the blur is Little Dude. Seriously though, place mats make easy, durable posters!!
The before and after shots (Stitch is still coloring the Pooh drawing)
And check out these posters!! The Mickey one is slightly ripped so we got it for a quarter!!!!!
I think we're ready for pin trading!!!
At the Disney Outlet yesterday, we were able to snag 6 of these special NYC only pins for premium pin trading! They were on clearance, but still pricey, so the trade has to be a good one!!
We got special Mickey sweatshirts too, for a steal! Mine was original $50, down to $8 and Stitch's was originally $40 down to $10!!

Ha!!! DB in a costume? Please! Since he wears Hawaiian shirts anyway, the best costume I have for him is "tourist"

Pam, where did you get the black book? Stitch has been poking around looking for a book this weekend.

Read in your plans that you have Ohana planned. Food for thought ~ on our trip last Sept we had a 7:45am breakfast ADR. We stayed at Coronado and planned taking a MK bus then the resort monorail. When we got on the bus there was one other family one the bus headed to Chef Mickey. The bus driver dropped them off at the Contemporary then told us that he would take us directly to Poly. Saved us a lot of time and the Disney Magic was appreciated. Kudos to the bus driver!
Looking forward to reading more of your plans!
Wow, door-to-door service! I could live with that!

Love all the purchases and I would say you are definitely ready for some pin trading
We love pin trading!!!! But not the price. All of those pins shown were either clearance or a vey good sale. With the exception of the NYC ones. They were on sale but not as low as I would have liked. Else I would have bought more (remember I'm buying for Stitch and I to trade )

I bought it at my local Hobby Lobby store. You might find them at a Micheal's also. It was in the artist section. It's a sketchbook, not a scrapbook. The red one was int he scrapbooking section. I posted a link to the black book on HobbyLobby.com a few posts back.
Love your new purchases! What a great idea to decorate your room.
Sounds like you have a lot of fun plans.
I have to add that I love the name, Little Dude!
I don't remember where I hot the idea of the placemats but they're not going to rip! . We are having fun, but that work any day.
His nickname is Little Dude because when we first got him we had another dog. She was nicknamed Dude and speedbump. So then he became Little Dude. And Molly's nickname is fuzz ball, especially right before her hair cuts!
