The trip with an ulterior motive (Spet 3-10)- PTR - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I think the Kidada items are adorable but I can't justify the $40 for the itsy bitsy princesses - they're like potato chips, I can't have just one!!
You'll be so comfy in your sketchers sandals. I had the shape up work shoes and although they looked funny I never had any problems with my feet even after being on them for hours at a time.
I had a very hard time resisting as well...thus the reason I stuck with a t-shirt that had all 4 As for the Sketchers I have heard nothing but great things so I am looking forward to it!

As promised, I gave my Skechers Tone-ups flip flops a dry run this weekend and WOW!! Background for you all, even though I am only 30, I have really bad arthritis in my feet. I have managed over time to break both of my feet as well as every toe at least once….partially from cheerleading growing up and partially from stupid incidents in college that we wont discuss…….
So anyways, I went for a marathon shopping spree yesterday with DD and by BF (who is also named Stacy and also has a DD named Kayla….weird I know!). I wore the shoes and walked for 9 hours straight. When I got home, my feet, legs and back felt just as good as they did when I woke up!!! These shoes will be wonderful for Disney J Didn’t get anything for the trip, but I did get a ton of stuff for our house….love when stores put artwork and decorative stuff 50-75% off
Now back to planning For our 2nd full day in the parks we are headed off to hang with the Lions and Tigers and Bears….OH MY! Animal Kingdom here we come AK has EMH this morning so I plan to be there when they start to really enjoy as much as we can before the day heats up. First on our list is definitely the safari. Last trip, we did the same thing and got to see a lot of the animals very active which the kids loved. From there we will head to EE and get FP’s and hopefully even ride it then. DD and DS are both really really close to the height cut-off so we are hoping they will be tall enough to ride this year. DS is fascinated by the Yeti from all of the Disney shows on TV.
From this point on , we are very flexible with the day. AK is usually my most laid back day as far as planning goes. We typically go with the flow and experience whatever we can. It’s so laid back that I don’t even have a plan for lunch….we will probably just eat whatever is nearby when we get hungry. Since AK is usually so much hotter than the other parks, we tend to not be as hungry. We may even do CS for a good breakfast and just use a snack for lunch.
The park closes at 5 and from there we are headed over to AKL for reservations at Boma. I have to admit that this will be the first time that I have ever stepped foot in AKL and I am SOOOOOO excited! We will have a decent amount of time once we get there before our 6:15 reservations, so I am hoping we can roam around a bit and maybe even check out the savannah and the gift shops.
After Boma, it’s back to BC for our first trip to Storm Along Bay. The kids have seen so many photos of the pirate ship and can’t wait to go swimming there. I have to admit, I might be just as excited as them Especially for the lazy river!
Up Next….A Little Boys goal is achieved!

PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Not too much on the planning front today...DH is traveling for work and I am still trying to recover from 3 nights of restless sleep. We did get our package from the Disney Store today with the t-shirts that I bought. The Kidada princess shoes are so adorable! DD also got a pink Perry shirt that says I Love (with Perry in the shape of a heart) Platypi...
Hoping to finish getting any needed clothing items this weekend. The nice thing about living in Texas though is that I don't have to worry about summer clothes completely disappearing from the stores. I would however like this never ending heat with no rain to disappear!!!
Hoping to spend the quiet time at night this week re-reading my passporter in preparation for our trip..... 53 days left!!!!!

The flip flops sound great, I really need to get myself a good pair as I always bring sneakers yet end up in my cheap flip flops - I feel fine during the trip but when I get home, I realize how sore my legs are

I have to say that I have been wearing the flip flops all the time and they really are great! Bonus is that with a black and brown pair I wont need any other shoes at Disney which saves room for more souveniers

I would love to share more planning news but unfortunately my laptop is broken (which is where my spreadsheet is right now ) and I am borrowing DH's laptop. We are now at 48 days out from our trip. I have been working really hard to make sure our packing list has most items on it. My goal is to have everything we need to buy bought in the next few weeks. One of the things I hate the most with vacations is waiting until the last minute to get everything. DH and I travel alot for work and waiting until right before vacation means that I am running around like crazy and typically forget something important.
I also found some really cute shirts for DD at JC Penney's yesterday. We affectionately call her the Diva because well....she is! they had a Daisy t-shirt on it that said D is for Diva How cute is that!!!!
The other big planning thing that happened this weekend is that DH and I decided to skip our parents night out eating at GF. The more we thought about it, we just didn't want to spend that much extra money (either V&A or Narcosse plus childcare combined would be a rather large amount of money). So instead since that is an AK day and they close at 5pm we are going to head back to the hotel early. Hopefully we can grab some QS along the way and then spend the evening at SAB! Since this would have fallen right in the middle of our trip, I think an evening at the pool will be just what we need to relax.
Up Next.....hopefully I have my laptop and spreadsheets back!!!
