As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Wednesday 13 April – part four: this could be fun...
By the time we got off, it was about 12pm, so we headed to Biergarten and quickly found the others. I must admit that my face fell a bit when we saw a heap (and I mean a heap – about 40 of them! ) college students being taken in. As Mark said, that will be a long line at the buffet, but actually it was fine. Fortnately, they were seated right at the front of the restaurant and away from us. We figured that would make for some fun when the band came out, but sadly they didn’t start until 1.15pm and the group was long gone by then.
We were seated at a table with a couple from Virginia. I found it quite hard to hear what they were saying, as I was at one end of the table and they were at the other, but they were very nice and everyone was soon chatting away.
The selection of food here was very good and I had no problem finding plenty of salad to enjoy, along with salmon and plenty of desserts. I was pleased that I could enjoy so many desserts, as all too often here, they are apple, pear or peach, none of which I can eat any longer with my allergy.
One of the reasons we had suggested eating here with Sean, Sharon and Ciaran is that we know how much Sean loves his beer. We thought it would be a perfect place for him and, of course, that’s exactly what he was. As you can tell, he loved the beer here!
I spotted a Riesling Spatlese on the menu and had that as I have had it before at the California Grill and really enjoyed it. It was no different here. As we’re off on the cruise tomorrow and we still haven’t been to WalMart or Target to get any wine, I decided to head out to the shop and see if I could find a bottle. I did and Ok, it was $20, which is appallingly pricey, but then again, as we didn’t have an alternative, what else could we do, but buy it? Thank goodness Mark’s room key worked, as mine didn’t. It was the first time I’d tried charging it and obviously something was wrong with it. Oh well, we’ll be leaving tomorrow, so I can live with it for another day.
By the time I got back to the table, the band was just starting and they were much better than I remember. I especially loved the guy with the cowbells. What a talented guy he was! How he managed to do that and at such speed, I do not know. : As I say, it’s just a shame that the first show is now so late, as a lot of people had already emptied out and they didn’t get much response, which was a pity for them, as they were very good.
I think they’re having a good time!

When we came out, we walked slowly back through World Showcase. This is perhaps my favourite thing to do in the World. I just never tire of being here. : There’s always something to admire here.

A fun meal at Biergarten! Now that's a mug of beer! I never tire of meandering around World Showcase, either. As you say, there are always new things on display or old things you've never really noticed. I also never tire of your beautiful photos of all the details!

Sounds like you all had a wonderful time at Biergarten! I have always wanted to eat there... mainly because I learned German in high school/college. Maybe I'll have to schedule an ADR there for my next trip!
Glad you enjoyed your meal at the buffet. Who knew a vegetarian, with allergies no less, would find plenty to enjoy at a biergarten?
Can't wait for the next installment, as I've always been in the minority when I say that I actually enjoy the Beverly!!

I'm glad you got to enjoy the music at Biergarten! We tried it for the first time in January and were quite impressed. It really is underrated. Your photos are beautiful, look at that gorgeous blue sky!

I can't believe the tables at Biergarten were all empty! When we ate dinner at Biergarten there was not an empty seat in the house. Do you think it's the difference between the lunch and dinner crowds? Or was it after the lunch crowd had left that you took your pics?
We really enjoy walking around WS as well. If you're not in a hurry to get somewhere, there is so much to see!
