Sparky's Gone to the World- A TR 9/13/11-9/20/11 - Page 7 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thanks Marnie! She is pretty cute. I'll try to enjoy the car, I just have to remember when I think I don't like it...that I will my 8 days at WDW this year!! LOL
Hi. Just caught up with your PTR. Plans sound great, DD sounds adorable. Love the idea for the reveal! And I saw the pic of your car on Jessie092408 PTR. Yours is blue execpt the "Brady" car was green - still a boat. But hey - if it runs then . . .
I'm on the countdown myself - 178 days. It's going to be a long summer! I'm debating on a PTR/TR.

Thanks for following along! Yeah, the Brady car was green and 19 & 20 years older, LOL. My Brady is a 1990, Carol Brady's car (there were 2) were 1970 & 1971.
I got the idea for the reveal when Kristin from Couponing to Disney posted about the plates as an Easter basket idea. It just came to me! I can't wait, DD has been asking again about going back to Nisney World (that's what she calls it) and we just keep telling her "someday...it costs a lot of money to go. But we will someday!" I am so excited for it!

I have been hunting around on various websites trying to figure out what to get DD for her bday in a few weeks. While poking around I came across the Disney Princess and Me dolls. OMG! I want to get one so bad to put with her dress, shoes, and wand for WDW, as part of her surprise. She chose Cinderella without realizing she was choosing and this doll would be fabulous to go with. I talked to DH and he said, "If you want to do it okay, but that is IT!" So now I am trying to figure out if I want to do it or not.
I don't want to use if for her bday bc I want it to be part of her Cinderella surprise. With the coupons I have it would be $40 instead of $50, which is great. But not sure if I want to spend $40 more on it. What to do, what to do??
Happy Mother's Day to all the Disney moms out there in PP land!
making a decision about the Princess and Me doll for DD birthday!
And that she enjoys BBB.
Thanks Kathy. I think I have decided to forgo the luggage I was thinking of getting her and instead getting the doll to go with her BBB day.
I haven't quite figured out what to get her for her bday yet, but I think the doll is better with her WDW surprise stuff. I can just see her face when she pulls out the dress, shoes, wand...and then the matching doll. My DD has blond hair and blue eyes too, she it will really look like her. Then to go to BBB and then CRT for breakfast. I can just see the pic of Cinderella and her dressed like Cinderella and the doll who matches...WAY too cute!
I was feeling bad about not checking your post for so long...Turns out I only missed the updates by a couple days! LOL!
Your DD and my middle child must be very close in age. She will have her "golden" birthday next month...She will be 7 on June 7...I had somehow missed that detail before...
Your way of surprising her is fun! I can just imagine that morning being a day my kids would not be hungry and finish their breakfasts...hmm...

Hey Shelly! I haven't really posted on my PTR bc not a lot has been going on.
Yes, they are quite close in age. My DD will be 7 on May 28, 3 days after her Dad. LOL
Believe me, I have thought, Oh no, what if she doesn't eat her breakfast OR says "I want cereal!", can't put that on a plate! I have decided I am not even asking her I am just making her eggs, which she loves. Hopefully, she'll just eat them. If not I guess one of us will and then be like "OMG! Look at this plate!"

I think she will too.
SPeaking of which, I went to Toys R Us today to have a look around and what do you know, the doll was on sale!! So it was $39.99 instead of $49.99 and then I had coupons too. So the total for the doll was $31.99! Now I feel really good about the purchase!!
Love the reveal idea! Love the stories about your DD. DS (3) says 'can we do that at Disney?' or 'i want to do that at Disney' anytime he sees anything he likes on the Disney channel. It's getting crazy!
I'm sure your DD will LOVE the doll. Can't wait to see pics of that day!

Thanks Kelly! I don't know how I came up with it, it just popped into my head. But I think it will work out nicely. I love when my DD asks about NisneyWorld. She told me a few weeks ago, "Mama, when I go to Nisney World, I want to ride the Dinosaur ride! I promise I wont be scared. I'll be brave!" LOL
I can't wait to see her reaction to the whole thing. I don't know if she will be more excited or whether I am more excited about revealing the surprises. I said to DH the other day..."Ya know, if going TO WDW weren't a surprise enough, we have BBB and the dress, shoes, wand, and doll to boot!"
A few weeks ago we were going to see McQueen & Mater & McMissile on their tour, well we got there too late and they closed it. Dylan was SO upset! BUT the kicker is - he thought we were going to Disney, he could care less about the cars.

It's funny, but so hard to get them to understand, when they are upset like that.
He sounds like my DD with school vacation, she told everyone who would listen for a week how we were going to WDW. The teachers (she has a few due to being in the Spec. needs program), the bus driver and bus monitor all asked if we were going to WDW for Feb...and then April vacation, bc she kept telling them she was going tomorrow! LOL She was so upset when she found out otherwise, she just kept saying "But it's vacation!" Poor thing.
