Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Do You Have A Hobby?

What is your Hobby and how did you get started?

I have several on is leather work witch I started in 1977. When we moved to Arizona we toured part of the country. When we were in New Orleans it rain a lot and my Dad took us to a hobby shop. He pickled up some leather stuff and I did too. I haven't done it in a while but I started getting back into it. I hope to get better as I go along.

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

I'm an artist...I've drawn, painted, and sculpted since I was child. I got started very young, after seeing my father's paintings in the den, and had my first kneaded eraser by age 9. My latest work is a watercolor Tinkerbell portrait that I painted for Sarah.

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

I enjoy scrapbooking & stamping. But I have dabbled in soap-making, candle-making, ceramics, making painted Christmas ornaments, jewelery-making, etc. If it's something remotely crafty -- I like it!
I have been scrapbooking since '98, and I have been stamping since '99. I started scrapbooking after a trip to Hilton Head Island in '98. The pictures were sooo pretty that I wanted a "better way" to display them. Back then, there were not too many scrapbook stores in the area -- so I had to "hunt" for supplies. Now, I have the luxury of 6+ stores all within 15 miles of my home! (not including Michael's)
I learned to stamp from a former co-worker of mine. She hosted "Stampin' Up" parties which I attended. She and I are now regular "craft buddies" and get together 2-3x a month to work on scrappin' or stampin'.

P.S. Fun topic, Marcie!

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

I just started scrapbooking, working on my parents' 50th wedding anniversary a few months ago. I used to crochet quite a bit, making blankets for every friend's new baby, but haven't done as much of that lately. And once upon a time I cross-stitched but not in years.

I'm also a HUGE fan of putting puzzles together (is that a hobby? ) and I write poetry for virtually every occasion or life event.

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

I have just started up again on an old hobby, jewelery making.
I worked for a jeweler years ago who taught me how to restring pearls.
I am starting to stock pile necklaces, bracelets and earrings for Christmas gifts this year !

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

Crafts, volleyball, watching reality tv shows and reading(magazines and Danielle Steel). I don't play volleyball nearly as much as I'd like considering I have three kids and their activities but it's great when I do. That's where I met my husband 18 years ago.

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

Well I guess Pin Collecting is now my new official hobby along with amatuer photography, and collecting Christmas ornaments. I've always loved taking pictures, and we've collected ornaments since we got married in 1990, but the pin fever hit me in 2001 at Disney World and it's like an inferno with me now. Great thing is that all my hobbies typically involve my family.

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

I am a Creative Memories Scrapbooking Consultant so my hobby is my job! I love scrapbooking all of our events. Eric and I already have 4 albums together: Engagement, Disney 2003, Mini-wedding, and Wedding. And we're not even married yet!!

I was at a great srapbooking store the other day and found oodles and oodles of great Disney stuff! Paper, stickers, idea books. I'm definitely going back!!

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

For me it's scrapping, but I enjoy needle crafts too, like felt applique, crocheting, sewing, monk's cloth weaving, and I also collect Disney pins and memorabilia (napkins, ticket stubs, maps, pressed pennies). Ruth

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

I'm a quilter. I've finished 5 bedsized quilts, 3 baby quilts and 8 placemats. I have 2 queen sized quilts that have been pieced and partly quilted, but I'm a hand quilter and it's going pretty slowly finishing those. I am self-taught and I mostly hand piece as well as hand quilt. Although, I will use a machine to piece if I'm in a time crunch. For example: I have to make 2 more baby quilts for gifts this winter. I should really get started!

I started when I was pregnant with DD in 1989. And now I'm hooked. I have fabric stashed all throughout the house.

I also knit and crochet. I used to cross stitch and petit point, but lost interest.

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

Scrapbooking is my addiction of choice. Rubber stamping comes in a close second. (I do CM consulting and my friend is a Stampin Up demonstrator so the two of make quite a pair working together.) I also like pin collecting, and I LOVE to read almost anything I can get my hands on!

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

My newest hobby is quilting. My mom and I took a class in machine quilting last winter and now I am really hooked! Other hobbies are counted cross stitch, reading, photography, traveling (especially to WDW!), and running.

Re: Do You Have A Hobby?

My hobbies are cross stitching, needlepoint, reading, jigsaw puzzles. Saw my mom doing them as I was growing up, so I guess I just caught it from her
