Dreaming of a Disney spring break! THIS SECTION COMPLETED - Page 42 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I choked on my coffee while reading the part of having to take your glasses off.........you needed me and Mark there to hang on to while we shuffled in place!!
It's really a good thing that I was not on the plane with you. Although, those parents would have been behaving better themselves! Did they not think about separating the kids?? Idiots.
I'm so glad you're back on American soil and I do love that car!! What a nice change of pace from white with FL tags!

I can't believe that some parents think it's acceptable to let their kids behave like that in public- that's awful. Especially when you are trapped on an airplane with them for 9 hours
Some people just don't care- how rude!!!! Looking forward to hearing some nice things about DVC.... Loving the photos too
Sorry about the "rowdy kids", but unfortunately alot of parents feel they don't need to "parent" their kids out in public. Mine were threatened, and if they didn't listen, well, a trip to the bathroom settled things nicely. They are 18 and 17 now, and are still expected to behave while out!
While reading this the whole time I kept thinking about this story Bill Cosby told about a little boy on a plane named Timmy I think, but he was loud and obnoxious the whole flight and fell asleep right at the end. He stated all the grown ups had a great time waking him up on their way off the plane as payback.
Yikes - sorry about the frustrating flight! I just saw King's Speech last week myself, I really enjoyed it as well. And Tangled - love it! Glad you at least had a couple good movies to pass the time.
What a trial that flight was! WHAT is the matter with people? They're not doing their children any favor by teaching them that such behavior is acceptable. Just lazy and selfish! But glad you got to watch two very good movies.
Getting closer to the Disne Bubble... and with the illuminations music playing to help cheer you SO sad about the unruly kids... I am sure they were excited to be on a plane and all... but why parents allow them to control I will never understand as it does the child no favors when they become adults and wonder why they have difficulty. I have travelled alone with three children and keeping them from disturbing others can be a challenge, but it is called " be respecrful" Children don't know they are being rude or infringing on others, if a parent is not willing to step up and gently remind them. With the boys... I started with " bring it down a notch" Watching the TV over your shoulder
But at least you were able to get away from them once you were out of the airport...... Unless....... they checked into the same Resort and ............. were your neighbors over head or nextdoor..... yikes!! think how that was for whoever that ended up being.
Hope you were able to get some rest and relax from all the worries back home at work.

How awful about those kids on your flight! I don't know why some parents think that kids can have free reign on a plane. Yes, I know they can't get away, but they can, and do, but the ____ out of everyone else! I was on a 12+ hour flight once where the parents literally let their youngest crawl up and down the aisle - while they watched a movie at their seats (and while crawling, grabbed on to many tray tables with drinks on them!)! The poor flight attendants had to take care not to run the little one over with the beverage cart.
Anyway, hope that was the last time you saw that group on your trip! As someone else said, imagine if you'd checked in to your hotel to find them next door! Or in the next cabin on the Dream?! (Of course, then, the risk would be one ending up taking a "swim" in that big ocean!)
Glad you're en route to the bubble now! And very cool that Disney music was the first thing you heard in customs!
Yikes!! What a dreaded flight!!! Nothing worse than poor food and rowdy kids....or should I say....parents who choose to not control their rowdy kids!!!! And I am a parent.........it drives me crazy when I see kids getting rowdy and the parents doing nothing............when my DD was I believe 4, she was really acting up in a restaurant (her favorite restaurant!!) and after asking her to settle 3 times - and still no change - I asked to have our food packed to go, and left the restaurant (very quietly I might add!) and let's just say that DD still remembers that to this day - and she is 11 1/2! Often I just have to remind her of that incident and there is a quick turn around! I do hope that the family was NOT at your resort!!!

Oye. That sounds like a flight from you-know-where. Glad you're almost at your happy place though!
Glad you got to watch Tangled! Don't you just love Rapunzel's voice as well? Abby LOVES to sing and try to sound like her! The scene with the lanterns and Rapunzel and Flynn is one of the best ever! And yes... the mom must have done Broadway or something. I haven't try to google her but she was something else alright.
And yes... the mom must have done Broadway or something. I haven't try to google her but she was something else alright.
The actress is Donna Murphy, and yes, she is a Tony award-winning Broadway actress. Her Tony awards are from Passion (by Stephen Sondheim), and the King & I, as Anna. I think I saw something about her being in one of the Star Trek movies, as well as Spiderman 2, and Nanny Diaries.
I don't know how you made it through the flight without saying something to the parent's....I know I would have had a VERY hard time keeping quite about the unacceptable behavior. nothing makes me prouded than when we are out somewhere & strangers come up to tell DH & I how well behaved our kids are in public.
I am the same way when I unexpectedly hear Disney music...wet eyes & a sense of peace come over me. looking forward to more.
