Make your choice Adventurous Stranger...A Goin Solo PTR - Page 5 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I had never heard of party for the senses...but I just googled and it sounds fantastic! It combines so many of my favorite things--food, drinks, Cirque, and Epcot!

I know right?!?!?! I believe this might be the perfect place to meet up!
Thanks! I am really bummed, everything else just doesn't appeal to me. Guess I'm keeping my Mustang - not that I don't love her to pieces but my 90lb dog would greatly appreciate the extra room and would be able to come with us to Florida!!
Quick update on the Tahoe I went to purchase Friday: It was definitely stolen - while I was at the bank picking up the check, it was stolen off the car lot! The police found it yesterday and gave chase. The chase caused the thieves to crash and then run. No word on how much damage since we haven't recieved the police report and it's still in impound. If the damage is just cosmetic and easy to fix, I might still take it. Keep you posted.
Aside from that, I'm gearing up for MNSSHP. I have never been but if it's half as much fun as the old Pirate & Princess Party, I'm sure to have a blast. So I got online yesterday and looked up some costumes. At first, I wanted to be a princess but scratched that because how does one enjoy rides while wearing a hoop skirt?? I'm still hoping to get up to NJ and grab my old Jack Sparrow outfit out of storage. I was also toying with the idea of being Flo from the Progressive commercials again. I dressed up as Flo two years ago and it was a hit! I really looked like her!
A) Sorry about the car! That definitely stinks, but maybe it was a sign from above and another one is coming (and at least you weren't on the line for the insurance deductible - Flo would not be happy).
B) In my opinion - MNSSHP is better than the Pirate and Princess Party.

True, true. It was such a nice truck, beautiful shape & really low miles. poop.

Yay!! I LOVED the P&PP so this should be AWESOME!!
I went to the Party for the Senses last year. I was gonna get the wine view lounge but it was sold out by the time I booked it. But, it was great without it, there were plenty of tables, I sat with a couple who were there for the first time also. They say you get something extra with the wine view lounge,(dont know what it is) and I might splurge this year for it just to feel pampered. It is a great event either way. I am so far planning on going Oct 5-12 but am waiting to see what seminars and who the chefs are, I can go either that week or the next. I wish they would hurry up and announce it already

I completely agree & wish they'd announce dates too! Party for the Senses & MNSSHP are the two events I must do. WOW! If you plan on going the same weekend as me, this could be alot of fun because I think quite a few PPs will be at the F&WF. I may be going solo but I'm not going to turn down a PP meet!!
Did you go to the Party solo? I'm just wondering if I'll feel weird all by myself.
I go by myself. I noticed alot of solo travelers. I have no problem talking to strangers and everyone seems to be in a happy mood and very friendly at these events(must be all the wine ). I just find an empty seat at a table and start chatting. I have not been treated any differently by cast members either, actually I take that back, they treat me great, maybe because I dont have a screaming kid with me. lol The reason I go alone to the F&WF is because I am big foodie and my kids are still a bit too young to be able to sit for all of the seminars I want to do. So my hubby stays home with them. My kids are fine with it just as long as I bring them back something. I do not think you will feel weird at all.
I can't wait to see a pic of 10 hippies walking thru MK!!
Well we'll have 2 mini hippies too since we'll have my boys. If you have any costume suggestions I'll gladly take them!
So sorry about the Tahoe.
Sounds like you're getting really excited for the party. I wish your trip was sooner so you could go now! Plus since I'm going right before you I'd be in Disney now.

Good to know I won't feel out of place, I have NO problem chatting with a stranger. And since I will be without my usual posse, I won't have eyes rolling when I start asking guests & CMs questions or wonder off on my own. I'm the big Disney geek in the group and even though I have more visits under my belt than all of my friends, I still find something new & exciting each trip.
I really can't wait to just wander aimlessly and explore all the off the beaten track sights - really wander around the park not feeling any guilt if I want to ride Snow White 3 times in a row (only got DBF to go twice last visit).

The hippies idea is not only cute but easy to put together and comfortable! My only suggestion would be Snow White, seven dwarfs, the Evil Queen & the Old Hag. Or the Prince if you need another character.
I love when large groups dress in one theme. We've done Wizard of Oz & the Village People in the past.
We did Wizard of Oz at work a few years ago. I was Glinda and got to wear my wedding dress again! Village People is a good idea. I let people have a choice between pirates & hippies and hippies won. I'll probably get some peace sign necklaces and stuff too. Now I'm getting excited again!
