As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Sorry about that woman smoking Seems like there are different norms in other cultures and places. I remember one trip we were on our way to Aruba and had a stop over in San Juan (I think) And people were smoking inside the airport. It's just a different world in some places. The pics from the show look amazing though!

Sorry about the Smoker. Smoking is one of my pet peeves. Makes you smell icky, allows people to take multiple breaks at work without people getting in trouble, gives me a headache, just generally bad all around.
Hopefully your throat feels better the next morning.

You got some terrific pictures, despite how awful you felt from the smoking. That is definitely one thing I have a tough time with in certain parts of the world, where smoking is still more socially acceptable. Having a son with asthma, we've had to really hustle out of some places when there were smokers around. And they really do usually seem oblivious to the fact that they are making others sick, don't they? Blech! Hope you felt better in the morning!!

So sorry about the woman smoking. Ugh! Our DD has asthma and I just hate being out in public and someone just lights up right then and there. Annoying.
My Dad used to smoke Marlboroughs so I know that disgusting smell oh so well. just gross. I'm so used to everything being smoke free now thst is just so much more objectionable.

I'm not a smoker either, but my father is and so is Chad's mom, and I make no qualms about telling them how much I hate it. One of my biggest pet peeves are ignorant smokers who don't care how their smoking affects the people around them. Ever since I had my brain surgery the smell of smoke affects me even more than it use too, so I would have been extremely bothered as well, and while it may not be a law there, it's a courtesy that people should give. I would have said something to her in a way that she would understand. Okay...I'm off my soapbox now!
The show looks awesome, but I can't believe the woman smoking! I know most of the world doesn't have laws against smoking outside, but common courtesy should have prevented her when at a theater and sitting so close to others!
(BTW, anyone else think of Steve Martin when Cheryl mentioned "walking like an Englishman"? Remember, "King Tut"?) Am I dating myself?

Sorry about the woman smoking. As a nonsmoker, I can understand what you were going through. I have problems with certain detergents and fabric softeners at work along with cigarette smoke. The thing is, most of those people don't care if it causes breathing problems for someone. A least, that's the way it is around here. Your pictures of the light and sound show are wonderful.

A few comments:
1) Why couldn't your guide go with you into the treasure room?
2) I agree with you about the little green men theory. Mom and I are fervent subscribers to that thought.
3) Be glad you skipped the carpet school thing. We went on a cruise when I was 19, and one of the ports was Kusadasi, Turkey. Somehow, mom got suckered into buying a rug!! She had it shipped home, and I don't even want to tell you what she paid for it, but let's just say it was the same price as the computer she was going to buy me for college. Ever since then we called it the "Computer Rug" because we got a rug instead of a computer. I remember sitting on the ship when she turned to me with a look of horror and said, "WHY DID YOU LET ME BUY THAT?" Buyers remorse had kicked in, but it was too late... lol. We still have the rug and we still laugh about it.
4) LOVE the superior room, and view! Love the little "balcony" type area.
5) I'm a former smoker, and I remember when I did smoke, I couldn't abide second-hand smoke. We were on an Al Italia flight to Rome, and they were allowed to smoke on those flights. I thought I was going to die. It was awful. I always was careful about where I smoked, though. I also had a rule - no smoking in front of children, and no smoking in groups of people. Horribly rude on all counts.
Ok I'm all caught up now and will follow along going forward! Sorry I'm late!

I am always amazed how some people that smoke have no consideration for those around them. I work in a pediatrician's office and we have parents that come in with the kids that really smell of smoke. It's so gross!

Because it was small and the museum say that there would be too many people in there, all talking and it would end up as shouting and also people would spend much longer in there, slowing people down from getting in there to see things. With the tombs at the Valley of the Kings, it's a similar thing. They reckon everyone would slow down, as they'd be listening to their guide and they'd have even longer lines.
