Sparky's Gone to the World- A TR 9/13/11-9/20/11 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I have been working hard on my schedule now that the hours for the parks are posted. It literally took hours of planning, arranging and re-arranging, but I did it! I don’t plan out all the minutes of our days, but I do have to have some kind of plan for what park we will be in at what times so I can plug in our ADR’s that I am hoping to get.
One of the things I wanted to do at the recommendation of my fellow PP friend, DisneyDana, is to see Fantasmic. Now with that show only being on Tuesday and Sunday, I plugged that into our schedule first. After playing around with the schedule, at some point, I didn’t think I was going to be able to pull it off and was about to take it off the schedule. I happened to go to some website I use for the show information, and realized that Fantasmic is on Thursday and Sunday, so I went back to the drawing board.
It was tough because I have not only particular restaurants I am looking at but also specific meals. Example…Garden Grills is only dinner, 1900 Park Fare I want dinner, and Le Cellier I want lunch (not because of the credit increase, but because I want their burger, which is only at lunch), etc. I also want at least one table service per day, and of course I want all this with the least amount of time wasted running back and forth between parks and resorts. I am just not one to go from Epcot, to MK, to the Poly for a ADR and then back to Epcot. Two parks per day is good enough for me!
Again, I thought I had my schedule all figured out and was pretty happy with myself, when low and behold…it was not. I forgot to add in my PP meet with Jessie092408! Back I went and plugged that in. Another hour spent trying to figure out the schedule and something just not working about it. Finally once and for all I got it nailed down, with an added ADR.
Now I just have to pray I get the ADR’s I want, or it will be back to the drawing board…again.
Here is the schedule I came up with….
Tuesday 9/13/11- Arrival Day - No park this day.
Dinner- O’Hana Watch the fireworks and maybe the Electrical Water Pageant
Wednesday 9/14/11- MK and Epcot
Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique, first thing in the morning
Breakfast- Cinderella’s Royal Table
Lunch- CS either at MK or Epcot depending on where we are
BREAK at resort
Dinner- Garden Grill DD wants to be Cinderella, so I have already gone to DisneyStore Online and bought her the dress, light up shoes, and light up wand for this day.
Thursday 9/15/11- MK and DHS
Richard Petty Driving Experience for DH, first thing in the morning
Breakfast- CS at resort
Lunch- Liberty Tree Tavern
BREAK at resort
Dinner- CS at DHS either Catalina Eddie’s or Fairfax Fare Want to arrive at DHS in time for the 5:45 show of Beauty and the Beast, which we have never seen. I think this will give us just enough time to get our food and head to Fantasmic. What do you all think?
Friday 9/16/11- AK and Epcot (open till midnight)
Brunch- Donald’s Safari Breakfast
BREAK at resort
Dinner- CS at Epcot, eat around the world; Harry’s, mexico, china I am hoping while at AK this day we can see the Flights of Wonder show at 1 and Finding Nemo at 2. Is this even feasible? Please advise fellow PP…
Saturday 9/17/11 DHS and MK
Breakfast- CS at resort
Lunch- Sci Fi Dine in Theatre
Dinner- CS at MK This is the day I am hoping to get DD into the Jedi Training Academy, wish me luck! We also want to see the Lights, Action, Motor Show this day. We can also take a break at the resort if we so choose, but I don't think we will because it's the only day I don't plan for a break, except for the Monday before we leave, the arrival and departure day, which I don't think is neccessary. Of course, we can always opt not to break at all. It all depends on how DH and DD are feeling.
Sunday 9/18/11 Epcot and MK (open till 1am)
Breakfast- CS at resort
Lunch- Le Cellier
BREAK at resort
Dinner- 1900 Park Fare….late
Monday 9/19 AK and MK
Breakfast- CS at resort
Lunch- Crystal Palace
Dinner- CS at resort with fellow PP Jess (Jessie092408) and her DH David. This day we are trying for Festival of the Lion King at 10 am and anything else we didn’t fit in the other AK day. If we happen to get everything we want in the first day then we can opt to just go to MK this day.
Tuesday 9/20/11- Departure Day L- MK
Breakfast- O’Hana, Lilo & Stitch
So this is what I have planned of course if I can’t get the ADR’s the way I want them, then it’s back to square one and trying to figure out where to put what. The only change I can muster without changing a whole lot of the schedule is O’Hana dinner the first night with 1900 Park Fare. I do know that 3 things are definite MUST do’s and those are…BBB, RPDE, and Dinner with Jess and David. Oh, one more thing…I MUST and I mean MUST see Wishes at least 2 times! Even if that means because of scheduling ADR conflicts giving up Fantasmic.
So wish me luck in booking my ADR’s, I will be up and ready to book at 6am on March 17th! I will be back after that date to update and fill you in on the finalized schedule, and you know this! LOL
Good Luck with Scheduling your ADRS! I absolutely the scheduled "Break at Hotel." I plan on taking breaks with my darling, but didn't schedule it in (maybe I should.)
And I've never seen flights of wonder, but birds give me the absolute creeps so if you have to make a choice between FOW and FotLK - the Tumble Monkeys get my vote EVERY TIME!
Also, a suggestion. Make sure on Cinderella day you bring some sneaks for your princess. Those dress up shoes tend to be a little achy after a few minutes of walking.

Thanks! I am so hoping ADR's go smoothly. So far in the past 2 years, I have gotten every ADR I wanted, so I am hoping for good luck again.
For my DD (and DH, lol) it's much better to have a little down time...me I tend to be more the commando type (ie...at park open to close), that being said I don't think any of us would want to have a break everyday. So I planned my breaks in for certain days...if you look at my schedule, most of the days with breaks are days that the parks are open late. This way we can stay out later. The other day we will be up early, so I thought a respite would be nice.
Of course the schedule is always subject to change and we may decide not to break one of the planned days and end up doing so on a non planned day. But this just gives us some structure. Plus I hate to break for a few when the park closes early. Kwim? It worked in 2009 very nicely for us.
Thanks for the tip about the shoes, I hadnt really thought of that yet. Although, in 2009 I ended up putting DD crocs in the bag for the parks anyday she didnt wear them. But that could have easily been overlooked.
Good Luck with your ADRs - my dateis 9/21 and I think I have everything squared away that I want.
We plan on being at MK at night on 9/18, so maybe we'll see you there!
No real input on your flight of winer/Nemo plans...but it does seem a bit tight. We have never been to FOW...is that on the island?
We haven't been to it either. But I heard it's very good. It's right in the middle almost of AK...at least it seems that way from the map. Maybe it is on Discovery Island, thats what it's called right? LOL I think I might see the earlier show of Nemo and then do FOW if we can make it. Otherwise, I can save FOW for Monday.
Thanks Shelly for following along!

Maybe, I'll keep my eyes open for a group of 10 with a bday decorated stroller! LOL I read your post on Jessie092408's PTR.
