We're going to WDW! Adventures of a Mom & Toddler the TR! 9/24-9/30/2010 - Page 13 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Thank you everyone. I'm on pins and needles today as DMil & DFil are on their way to Kentucky right now as DSIL is having Maddy a month early. They induced her today. Maddy may be sharing a birthday with her Uncle Mike, as today is Erick & Celeste's Brother's Birthday. She wasn't sure if she may have a C-section as well. We do know Maddy will be a tiny baby like Skyler was, but Celeste did mention that she wasn't quite weighing 4 lbs. Thank goodness I have a small bottle of bubbly in the fridge chilled so when Erick & I know she's born we can have a little at home celebration.
I am bummed about the Bears being knocked out of the Playoffs last Subday, but even more excited that my Niece will be born today. It will also be nice to not have to keep the sex of the baby a secret from DFil anymore.
I hope we can get a new battery for our car soon as it died on Erick getting from one job to the other in the awful snow we have here(he never made it to his second job, but luckily DFIL was able to jump start our car for Erick so he could get home. I hope everyone is well and I'll update you all when I know Princess Maddy has made her gran enterance to the world.

Thank you so much Kathy. I got some updates from the Mom to be a few hours ago and she was doing fine but no Maddy yet, we're still waiting(and hopefully DMIL & DFIL are in KY now). I don't know if Erick's gotten any calls yet, but I'm sure he'd run upstairs to let me know if he knew anything. I can't wait to see a picture of our newest family member.
Yay! Maddy has finally made it into the world! She was born at 3am and is 4 lbs. 7 oz.! I have not seen a picture of her yet, but DFIL just called a few minutes ago! I'm so excite to be a proud Auntie to my first Niece. Celeste already has Tinkerbell picked out for her 1'st Christmas Stocking! Welcome to the world Madison Nicole Haas! I so can't wait to meet our family's newest little princess.
Thank you so much again Kathy. I finally got a picture of her (sadly it's on my phone which Skyler decided to drench in a cup of water). She is just absolutely precious. I'm glad both my SIL & Maddy are both doing well, and Celeste certainly deserved plenty of rest after 13 hours of Labor. Skyler was very cute giving the picture of his brand new baby cousin a kiss on my phone before he submerged it. I'm just glad to hear that Celeste isn't having false labor pains anymore. I'll try to post a picture of her once I get more pictures. Maddy & her Uncle Mike aren't sharing a Birthday after all, but so cool she was born a day after, and can now share the same birth month with both of her Uncles!
For all of you on here whom I have as friends on Facebook, I have uploaded a good amount of pictures from our trip, both the North Palm Beach bit, but the majority of Disney. I will do the same on here, as soon as possible. I'm sorry my last day of my TR (although the majority of it is written) may be pictoral. I purposely didn't post any of the Boo to You Parade or of the Hallowishes Fireworks incase anyone didn't want the surprise of it being spoiled.
Congrats on the new family member! Sorry about the Bears! I was rooting for them because Matt Forte is a Tulane grad (and so am I) I'm completely not thrilled with this year's superbowl, but I'll be rooting for the Packers.
Hope all is going well with Skylar's testing!
Thank you Heather. Uh Oh Heather, we have a little school rivalry (although one of my friends is Tulane Alum too), as my DFIL is LSU Alum, so I'd get my rear whooped if I didn't root for them. I'm not watching the Super Bowl. I'm pretty bummed watching their season come to an end (If you thought I was a big Saints Fan, you'd be right, but I truely bleed Navy & Orange, not only for them, but my sister's school Syracuse too).
Instead of dwelling on the past on Super Bowl Sunday, I've just chosen that Skyler & I will be having a Toy Story Marathon of all 3 movies, & Cars, or Despicable Me (he gets to choose, Mommy will just enjoy spending time with what he loves to watch). I'll take time spent with my kid over crying on the Bears or Saints not playing in the big game. I can't wait for the Pro-Bowl though and seeing my old friend from Florida Devin Hester make his grand appearance in it.
Congratulations Becki on your new neice . I was able to check out the pictures on FB, Skyler is just so adorable. It really looks like you had an amazing trip. Sorry about your phone, hope you can get another one soon.
I have some good news and some bad news. I finally got a new phone for now (a regular cell phoone) to replace my oh so loved iPhone that was ruined yesterday, however I appologize if my posts are far and few as I won't be able to access Passporter on the new phone (temp until our contract is up in June and Erick and I can get the phones we want then). At least I have a phone for now (I would go crazy, especially where I'm the one keeping track of all of our appointments, and I'm Erick's personal & physical alarm clock).
As long as Skyler's sleeping or will let me use the computer without trying to help me type, I'll try to get on here to finish up my TR. You can't blame honesty though. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
