Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 63 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Melissa! Don't switch!! I'll get on my soapbox to NOT have you switch.
Now I've never found the bus situation to be a problem personally, but maybe that's because we never made it to the parks at opening. And for DTD Jambo is the first stop - that way you can take the bus over to Kidani instead of walking.
Kelly...you're are too funny! I was thinking that the money I'll be saving on food from club level will far out way the bus service, so I'm thinking I'm going to stay. I don't know why I keep teetering back and forth, but I'm going to stay and try it out. You know, AKL was my all time favorite resort on property, and then I ruined everything by staying at BCV. Now I have the opportunity to stay club level at AKL and I'm questioning it!?! What the heck is wrong with me???

You're like all of us Disney nuts - wondering if there's something better we might be missing out on. But think of it this way - you can always stay at BCV next time if you don't like AKL club level because club level rooms on dvc points are hard to get. I think when you get back you'll be wishing AKL was your home resort.
Ok I seen you signed up for Disney Movie Rewards good deal! Do you have any Disney DVD's? If you do there might be a code in the DVD case you can still try to enter it.
PassPorter's Free-Book to Walt Disney World It’s hard to believe anything is free at Walt Disney World; but there are actually a number of things you can get or do for little to no cost. This e-book documents over 200 free or cheap tips to do before you go and after you arrive. You could save a considerable amount of money following these tips. Perhaps more importantly; you can discover overlooked attractions and little-known details most people whiz by on their way to spend money. Click here to see free sample pages from the e-book! Get this popular e-book free of extra charges when you join the PassPorter's Club for as little as $4.95. A club pass includes access to all our other e-books; e-worksheets; super-size photos; and more! This e-book is also available for separate purchase in the PassPorter Online Store for just $5.95.
Melissa, I have entered movie codes for DMR from old DVDs that I have had for a few years. We are in the process of going through some things in storgae so I cna move them into our new home. I keep finding the DVD cases with the movie codes in them still and I just go online and enter them. You can also get points for going to see Disney movies in the theaters. You just need to take a picture of your tickets and upload the pic. I think you have to write a specific code on them first though.
I know I'm way late in hopping on the wagon here, but I just read your report from start to finish...It took me a couple hours. Hope is adoreable, my favorite picture was the one of her outside of the Winnie the Pooh ride. I am sorry for the loss of your Nanny, that is always hard. Glad you had a wonderful trip, and that you have another one in the works! It was kind of fun to read about the 25th and 26th of September on your trip. We were down there then too...The 24th we were at Discovery Cove, and then in the evening, Epcot. Then the next day I think we did MK and Epcot.

When I bought into the DVC I had wanted my home resort to be AKL, but they said they weren't in the process of making that resort part of the DVC...little did I know that a month later they were in fact doing that! Needless to say I wasn't very happy with my home resort being SSR when I really wanted AKL, but I've only had to stay at SSR twice, and it's not that bad, it's just not my favorite.

I have a couple Disney DVDs that I can check, plus if you go on the disboards, they have a list of codes that they are constantly updating so everyone can use them.

Do they just automatically send you the coupons out after you've entered your points?

Hey, it's better late than never! Thanks for joining in and I'm glad you liked it. That must have been a popular weekend! So how much did you love Discovery Cove? We've done that twice and it's just a wonderful experience and I plan on doing it again one day. It looks like we may have crossed paths somewhere in there.
Hey! Thanks for checkin in on me! I have updated my Pre TR. Your TR was was great, although I am just now gettin all caught up. Now on to gettin caught up with the rest!

There is nothing wrong with you....I did the same thing. We had club level at AKL for our trip in April and I talked myself out of it and got BCV at 7 months. I thought I must be crazy The problem is there is so much information on these boards and they get you exciited for other resorts.... Our other reason for changing was that AKV is our home resort so we can try again at 11months...also it is the week before Easter and I thought the location of BCV was better. We can walk instead of waiting for a crowded bus
I'd be a bit ticked too if you wanted AKL and then a month later it opened up after being told no. But glad you've been able to stay elsewhere. We stayed at SSR on out first DVC trip since that's where we had to use our 'bonus' points. It was nice, but just took forever to get anywhere I felt.

it!! Swimming with the dolphins was such a experience. Next time we are in the parks on the same day, I will keep an eye out for you!

I loved just being able to walk to Epcot right from our hotel...such a bonus! I think I'm going to book the BCV for our little trip in May of 2012 for the wedding. That way we can enjoy SAB and we're right there if we want to visit the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. You're lucky that AKV is your home resort so at least you can try for club level whenever you want.

I definitely wasn't happy, and I let my sales rep know. He said that the sales team aren't told about the new DVC resorts until they actually become available or if they are being built just for the DVC. Not sure how true or not that is, but I would have bought from him regardless, so it wasn't like he was going to lose a sale. Yes, SSR makes you feel like you're away from everything, plus it's the biggest resort on property so it takes awhile just to get out of there.

Here's a list of some of the threads that you can try to get codes from Disney Movie Rewards Threads Some of them work and some of them don't but it's worth a try. And thanks for the code! If I get any from my DVDs I'll let you know.
