Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

We're back from the World and I have lots of food photos to share !

We started off with breakfast at the GF Cafe. I'd never eaten here but my parents love it here and always make a point of getting over there for breakfast on their trips. I can see why they like it so much!

I had an egg white fritatta with a side of fruit:

DH had the bagel and smoked salmon plate:

Mom had the yogurt/granola/fruit plate:

I missed photos of Dad's eggs Benadict and dd's Mickey waffles.

You'd think after such a huge breakfast we wouldn't be hungry for lunch - but we were! We decided to try La Cantina de San Angel. I really liked the atmosphere inside (it was too chilly to sit outside but that looked nice too) and the food was yummy! DH, Mom and I split the chicken taco entree and a basket of chips and guacamole:

Also on the tray was the kids chicken strips meal.

For dinner we went to Tutto Italia. We started off with two appetizers to share amongst the table.

Proscuitto and melon:

Eggplant parmesan:

For entrees DH had cavatelli with sausage:

And the rest of us had lobster ravioli with shrimp:

For dessert DH, mom and I split a cannoli and the dessert sampler platter (mini-cannoli, tiramisu and chocolate mousse cake):

Dad had chocolate gelato but I didn't get a picture.

The next day we started off with breakfast at Main Street Bakery. DH and I shared a yogurt/berry/granola parfait and (of course!) a cinnamon roll:

Another beauty shot of the cinnamon roll!!

For lunch we went to Crystal Palace. In all the excitement of seeing the characters, I completely spaced on getting pictures of our plates from the buffet. I realized as we were heading out so I got a couple of shots of the cold buffet and the desserts:

We were pretty stuffed from lunch but still managed to split a sandwich at Contempo Cafe for dinner! This is the Mahi-Mahi sandwich with housemade chips - delish!

We started off day 3 with breakfast at 'Ohana. The skillet was extra-delicious that day:

Mickey waffle:

After breakfast we headed over to Epcot and explored Karamell Kuche. Oh my, so much delicious-ness in one small shop! Here are some shots of the cases then I'll show you what DD picked :

Caramel brownies:

Candies:

Cupcakes:

Apples:

And DD picked -- a caramel filled chocolate cookie:

Probably not what I would've picked (the cookie part wasn't very choclately and there wasn't much caramel filling) but she seemed to like it. We also bought a bag of soft caramels and Toffifay to bring home).

Day 3 continued. DH and I went to Narcoossee's for dinner.

I started with the shrimp and crab chowder:

And DH had the winter Waldorf salad:

For entrees, I had the steamed Maine lobster with asparagus and baked orchiette gratin (like a really yummy mac n cheese):

DH had the crab crusted Mahi-Mahi:

For dessert I had the almond crusted cheese cake:

(this was sooooo good!! I'm not a cheesecake fan but I'd read raves about this dessert and decided to try it - so glad I did)

DH had the gelato sampler:

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the food photos!

On to day 4.

We had lunch at Columbia Harbour House. DH and I split the tuna sandwich (you can see the new Disney-branded chips in the back):

And DD had the mac n cheese kids' meal:

DD being silly with a Mickey ice-cream sandwich:

Later in the day DH and I went over to DTD. We checked out the new eateries in the former McD's location. Being a huge cupcake fan, I had to check out Baby Cakes. We split a lemon "cupcake top." Yikes, this was the worst cupcake I've ever eaten. The frosting was chewy (???) and the cake tasted like a stale corn muffin.

For dinner we met back up with my parents at Kona. We got two apps for the table, sticky wings and potstickers:

Mom and I had the teriyaki steak:

While Dad and DH had the shrimp and scallops:

For dessert, DD got the kids' make-your own sundae, Mom had the sugar-free apple stack and DH and I split the Kona Kone:

Last day.

We had lunch at Sci-Fi. DH and I each had a yummy cheeseburger:

While DD got the kids' cheese pizza meal.

We skipped dessert because we had other plans that included a ginormous cupcake from Starring Rolls. We opted for the chocolate peanut butter. YUM!

For dinner, DH and I went to the Kona sushi bar but I failed to take any pictures. I can tell you that we had the sticky wings and potstickers again, along with a really delish shrimp tempura roll and a California roll. We capped off the trip by splitting a Mickey bar from Captain Cooke's!

And that's a wrap on our food adventures for this trip!

Loved the food photos. Great work and everything looks so good!

Wher in Epcot is the shop Caramel Kouche? Sounds like it could be Germany? Not familiar with it. Must be new?

Can you tell me more details about the Proscuitto? I've always wanted to try it but I never have. The closest I got was one time I bought it from the store to have as an app. I opened it and it smelled so bad that I threw it away thinking it had gone bad. Then I started wondering if that is the way it was supposed to smell. You know kinda a like smelly cheese. How would you describe the taste?
