Our First Trip, MY First TR!!! (Dec. 2010) - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

10 Days!!! OH DEAR!
We can now do online Check-in. not sure if I want to do that yet. We'll see.
Today is a great day for Disney Trivia! Just you see.
on November 22, 1995, Toy Story was released! Toy Story! Buzz, Woody, Mr Potato Head.... "What are you looking at you hocky puck?" Hehe! I had a talking Mr. Potato head that said that. Then my nephew broke it. But it's ok. I love him more than my toys.
In other Trivia... in 1994, All Star Music opened. I've yet to stay there. And probably won't for a while. Movies is going to be first for Values, probably in October.
More Trivia!!!
1991... Beauty and the Beast was released! Wait, Didn't we already have Beauty and The Beast trivia? Hmmm. I seem to remember that we did. on the 13th, it had a Grand opening. But then it was released everywhere on the 22nd... Hmm That's kind of cool.
For those wondering where yesterday's trivia went... I was bored by it so I didn't post it. on the 21st, Bolt was released in 2008. meh. I've never seen it. Maybe I should. Who knows. But it's 10 Days today!
I can't believe how fast it's going by! I think time's sped up over the past month. I hope it slows down in 9 days. LoL.
This day's trivia is a bit somber, but I felt it had to be included.
On November 23, 1968 Disneyland Closed in remembrance of President John F. Kennedy, who was shot and killed the day before, in Dallas, TX.
But to keep it on a fun note, here's more. In 1998, Kona Cafe opened in the Polynesian Resort. Who doesn't love their breakfasts? And I'm going the be there in 10 days!!!!

November 24 in 1999 saw the release of Toy Story 2! Awesome! Again, I love this series. I still haven't seen Toy Story 3. I'll have to do so before I get to Disney World, in 8 days!!!
So, the other day, I started packing. Yup. I'm that insane. I just packed up a few things so I won't be tempted to wear them before the trip and thus have to scramble and do laundry just before we leave. A green sweater and a Red polo, a Red sweater and a Green polo... My Bathing suit, a Beach Towel... We're only there for 3 nights, so I don't have to pack a ton, so it'll be easy to fill the suitcase with the rest of the stuff this weekend after I do my normal batch of laundry.
I can't believe we're this close Finally. Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and then a long weekend. Three days of work and then we're on a plane. It should be awesome!
You're not insane at all to be packing at this stage! : I do that as well, as there's nothing worse than getting to departure and the clothes you want are in the wash.
I've had so much going on I wish I had some things packed already! I'm so ready for that Kona breakfast as well lol. Can you believe it? We're almost there!!!
Oh dear! it's 6 days now! I almost skipped 2 days.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! What a great day! Beth and I had dinner with my family at my cousin's house, then went to her Mom's for a second dinner. Sadly, it was the last day I'm going to see her before our trip... Glad it's only 6 days away!
So. Trivia! I left you all hanging yesterday so here's one for November 25th first. in 1938 the Disney cartoon Ferdinand the Bull was released. I know this is going to sound odd, but Ferdinand the Bull plays a part in one of my favorite books ever. Stephen King's "Rose Madder". The bad guy winds up wearing a Bull mask and makes comment to Ferdinand. It makes sense if you've read the book.
And now on to today... November 26th in 1971, barely 2 months after the park opened, Walt Disney World Closed its gates for the first time due to overcrowding. Let's hope for anyone visiting today or tomorrow, or any time in the next 9 or so days (hehe) that the parks don't overcrowd, so we can all make it in to see our favorite rides and attractions.
Not to long now. Hopefully making it through the next couple days won't be to much torture for you but, I am sure you will have a great time once you finally make it to Disney World.

It's almost here! 5 Days to go and they're coming faster and faster. I've completely rethought what I am packing because the weather looks warmer than I thought it would be. Shorts are in. Sweaters are out. I had to actually go shopping today to get something to fill a slot in my "desired wardrobe." While I was out I got a pair of walking shoes and a pair of slip-on style shoes for the airports.
I think tomorrow I'll pack up everything else and just have 4 days to chill.
For today's fact I had to go digging but I found one. In 2008, on November 27th, Thanksgiving day, a brand new Buzz Lightyear Balloon made its first appearance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!
