Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great story about Bob! He was probably thrilled that someone made 'magic' for him and got him to smile

What a fabulous story about Bob and good for your mom to have the guts to say something. Afterall, she said it with the nicest of intentions. Isn't it funny how sometimes when you reach out to a total stranger they respond? I bet it's true for people in the service industry that people tend to treat them as robots and not people - even the people who work at Disney - so BOb was probably taken off guard when he was treated like a human being. That was really cool.

As for the pancakes - egads! I think it would have taken 3 people to polish those puppies off!!

I kinda agree with you on your Mom...seems to be a trend as mine is a little "bolder" in her elder years as well.
The butter was delish! I could probably just eat that by itself. Sometimes I think I'm more adventurous than my mom, and then she does something that totally makes me go huh???

Too funny. Let's see if she notices anything.

We love interacting with the CMs. Sometimes it's the one's you don't expect to make the biggest impact.

I wouldn't been the same way with my mom about her telling bob to smile but I'm glad it worked in the end and makes for a great story!

And I'll definitely make your reservation for you. I just hope I can keep my average going. So far I'm 3 for 3!
So you liked the nutty pancakes? I could never have finished all of them, even if I did really like them...if I did, I don't think I would have been able to eat for a week! Maybe I can help you get 4 for 4!!! Or maybe I'll have some luck of my own.

LOVE the matching
I think I need to try those pancakes, I;m not real big with sweets so they may be right up my alley. We do love Kona , but sadly, never made it there this trip.
Oh well, next time!!!!
You would definitely like those pancakes then. Not so sweet as they are peanutty...is that word? It was the funniest thing that Bob wouldn't leave us alone. He was like our hitchhiking ghost after we got off of HM.

I wonder if he still thinks about us when he's on his shift? Hopefully we made his day.

I really hope we made Bob's day. He ended up being such a nice guy. As for those pancakes...they were HUGE!!! Maybe the could cut the costs if they would cut those portions!

Thanks! She definitely loves her Gammy ...or Mimi as she says it. Maybe Bob knew I was writing this TR and he wanted to be a part of it.

I LOVED those pancakes! Maybe I just really liked them or being that pregnant everything tasted good! but I almost finished them and then ate the dessert they brought out for my bday (however I didn't eat the bacon - I hate the bacon at Disney, too limp).

Holy cow girl! I'm very impressed. Maybe I'll have to be pregnant the next time I go just so I can fit it all in!!! BTW, I am so just kidding about that...no more pregnancies for me...at least I don't think so.

Well that was probably the first and last time I eat almost all those pancakes too because I probably won't be in the same situation again either.

September 24, 2010: Part Two

The monorail wasn’t very crowded on the way over, so again, we basically had the whole car to oruselves…even after making a stop at the GF.

This was our first time visiting MK when the fall decorations were up, so we were very excited. As soon as you go through the turnstiles you are immediately in the Halloween spirit.

I called my friend Dawn as soon as we got through the gates, but she said they had a late start that morning and they were just sitting down to eat breakfast. She would call me when they got to the park. So we started to make our way down Main Street, taking in more of the holiday decorations.

Then, as soon as I turned the corner I noticed this horrible crane right next to the castle. I mean, it’s not like I don’t have any pictures of us in front of the castle, but that’s one of the most important pictures of the trip, and now there was an ugly crane next to it. The photographer must have felt my pain without me even saying anything because he took two shots, one with the crane and one without. And only now have I noticed that he didn’t take one of all of us together…oh well, just another reason to go back.

We made a quick detour to the Baby Care Center so I could fill Hope’s sippy cups up with water and change her diaper in a nice clean environment. The place was empty so we had the whole changing area to ourselves (this seemed to be an ongoing theme for the day since the crowd levels were very low). The centers even have restrooms in there for the parents, so we took advantage of them as well. Again, I highly recommend this place to anyone with children.

Back on Main Street, we were headed for the two rides that got the most crowded the quickest…Dumbo and Peter Pan. I stopped to take a couple more pictures and then we were off to get in line for the ever popular Dumbo.

This is where we really started to feel the heat of the day. At first I thought it was going to be very comfortable, the weather was being very sneaky with us, but we started sweating as soon as we were standing in line for the ride. The line moved pretty quickly and I think we probably waited for about 15 minutes before it was our turn to hop on the elephant. This was Hope’s very first time on this ride.

Some of the constructon for the expansion...can't wait!

Once we landed we noticed there was a really short ride for the Carousel, and since Hope loves this ride we thought we would take a spin on that real quick. This time I decided to give Hope her very own horse (with mom standing next to her of course) and me on the horse next to her. She was a very big girl today.

Next it was off to Peter Pan. I’m glad we did the Carousel first, because while we were standing in line Hope began to fall asleep. By the time we reached our “ship” she was completely passed out.

I have to say, it was a little difficult getting myself into that car with her in my arms…she’s nothing but dead weight…and I ended up banging my knee really good while hopping into the ship! How can you be graceful while attempting to board a moving vehicle with your 24 lb. child passed out in your arms? It wasn’t pretty, and my knee was throbbing proof of it. Hope has still not seen this ride, she’s been on it, but has not seen it, so maybe next time will be the winner. Mom and I enjoyed it anyway, bad knee and all. When we got off the ride I laid her in the stroller and we decided to just walk around a bit.

I still hadn’t heard from Dawn, so I gave her a call, and she said they were just walking through the turnstiles to get in the park. They were going to do a little shopping on Main Street and we would meet up eventually. I had really wanted to see the Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! Parade, but Hope was sleeping and I didn’t want to wake her up with the loud music, so the first stop, get something to drink. We were so thirsty from the heat so we went to our favorite place to get sweetened iced tea…Columbia Harbor House. Then we took a stroll over to Ye Ole Christmas Shoppe. I love this store. I have a thing for Christmas ornaments although I didn’t buy any on this trip, I did buy this one in January for Hope…her name is on the back of the hat.

By the time we were walking out of the store I noticed Hope was waking up which couldn’t have been better timing on her part because the parade was just starting to make it’s way around the hub in front of the castle. We high tailed it over there as fast as we could so we could make it in time to see the whole thing, and we eventually found a nice spot right in front of the castle. We had so much fun watching this parade, however, every time I put Hope down to dance she would look at Dale and freak out to be picked up. I thought, “Oh no, is this how’s she’s going to be with all of the characters?”

After we were done dancing we stood back on the curb to finish watching the parade, and I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and it was Dawn’s husband Brian, they were watching the parade as well. So we finally were able to meet up…for a little bit at least.

Her girls, Abigail and Molly, were so excited to see Hope again, and we finally got to meet her inlaws as well. We all decided to make our way over to POTC to get out of the heat for a bit. As usual, there was no line for the ride, and we walked right on. I love this ride. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this is one of my favorite rides in the park. It’s just a classic. Once off the ride, we stopped for a picture with Goofy. Hope did pretty good with him, but she also didn’t have a chance to make real contact, so we’ll see how the next time goes.

We began to make our way towards Frontierland, and they decided that they wanted to ride Splash Mountain. I didn’t want to leave my mom with Hope so we decided to leave them for now and meet back up later to get on more rides. On this trip, I found that even if you plan on hanging with friends at Disney, it doesn’t always work out that way, especially when you have two different touring styles. In my heart though, I wasn’t too upset about it because I was enjoying just being with my two favorite girls at my very favorite place. Even though we were only here for 4 days we were definitely more laid back when it came to seeing everything. It worked out perfectly for us.

We headed towards the HM, and rode that since again, there was no line. Another favorite of mine, and I think this was the first time the ride didn’t stop while we were on it. The narration cut out towards the end of the ride, but at least the doom buggys kept on moving. By now it was close to 12:30pm, and we knew it was getting to be that time for Hope to have lunch. Mom and I were still stuffed from breakfast, but she needed to eat, so we walked over to Pinocchio’s Village Haus. It wasn’t very crowded in there, and it was nice to just sit and take a break for a minute. She ate while we relaxed.

When we left the restaurant the clouds were rolling in, and we knew a storm was approaching, but we weren’t sure how soon that would be. We wanted to spend some more time in Fantasyland but when you have a stroller it’s hard to decide what you want to do. Do you park it by the ride and pray it doesn’t get soaked or do you just hide out in a store? Us, hide out in a store…heck no! So we threw caution to the wind and just kept getting on the rides. I did have my stroller cover with me, but I just didn’t feel like getting it out…laziness, I know.

Up next: It never rains until 4:30…yeah right!
