Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We'll see how this first matchy outfit thing goes...it may be the last.

Good Luck with the Mom's Panel.
Beach time is always more important. And yes, I am big on the "mom" pose. Aren't our hips meant for that anyway?!?

If it makes you feel any better, my mom used to dress my sister & I up, and even she would find matching outfits with us too, but this was for a whole 7 years worth of matching, not just one shirt, one trip, every day matching. One day of it not bad at all. So sorry to hear about Hope's first public meltdown. Aren't those the worst? I so understand the whole "Please don't do this on the plane" feel. Oh btw since she's over a year old now, did you know you can use Earplanes on her now for ear pressure? May help prevent a meltdown on the plane an not give her severe ear pressure that will make her miserable. The child size is for 1+. Just an idea. Gettin closer by the day Melissa.
I'm definitely going to check out those Earplanes! Can you find them in the drugstore? And thank goodness I didn't have to worry about getting dressed up like my brother...that would have just been weird!

I'll bet we fit in just fine there with all the other matching families.

The Disney Outlet store isn't bad at all! We went into one the other day and I was amazed at the prices. Yeah, the quality might not be the best, but hey, it's still Disney right? And, just to let you know, my mom did pay for the shirts! That was the only way it was going to happen.

You have a great husband!!! He definitely gets an award so I think it's great that you are paying him back with the super hero shirts!
That is funny about the disney dollars becuase I came across some the other day too, but I had purposely kept them, some have the 100 years logo on them and then I think some anniversary so I kept some in each amount. Its like, hello that is money that you can spend, but then its also disney souvenier! I am thinking of getting some disney money for Sam before our next trip and when he picks out something to buy, we will let him pay with his disney money! He loves handing over our credit cards and even knows how to swipe them, so I figured that may be fun.
I don't know many mommy's that don't stress out about all of the what if's and possible melt downs. Its like if only we could just not worry about that stuff, go with the flow and relax, we would probably have an even better time. But hey, that is what mom's do, worry! Like I said before I was so stressed over our last two flights and even thought that Sam was moving around too much or talking too loud and then we were complimented on how well behaved he was! On his first trip at 8 months, he napped in his stroller, at 18 months he was just way too busy with everything going on but when we went back to the room for a bit in the afternoon to get freshed up before dinner, he would pass out in the bed. A couple of times we ended up skipping our dinner ressie, I know shame on us for cancelling at the last minute, but what do you do with an exhausted child who wants to sleep! Then we would head out after he woke and stay out later.
Love the shirts!!!

[QUOTE=honeybee723;3427554]Love that southern speak coming out in your posts!!! Oh to be a soccer mom. I'm praying that Hope will chose a different activity, but if that's what she wants to do I'll sit on that field with pride!
Ol yeah!!! Just wait until one day hopefully we can meet, and you will be able to really get a dose of the southern!!! All my friends say they love to hear me talk!
I do sit and watch with pride! and have been known to yell (in a good way!) I love to watch him play, he is really awesome! Just wait until Hope gets into "something" you with be the proudest parent in the world just like we all are on here with our kids!

I finished readying your PTR last night and then sent you off a PM regarding the Baltimore area. But I did want to say an official HI over here so I didn't get the lurker title. J/K!!
First of all I am glad you get to go again but sorry to hear that you had to write a complaint in the first place.
I would have picked the same parks as you. On our upcoming trip we are going to be in Epcot 4 out of the 6 days. Would have been more but we are doing MNSSHP on our arrival day so I plan for us to resort hop or DTD until we head in for MNSSHP. After seeing your milkshake picture though I am leaning towards a Beaches N Cream run.
We did the matching shirts one day on our last trip and I did purposely for picture ops. But I am not sure if I will make a habit of it. Although our pictures did turn out cute.
We took my oldest as a lap child when he was 16 months and I am trying to rack my brain what I did bring to entertain him. I know we did a book at one point because I have a picture of it and he fell asleep since we had gotten up so early that morning. Again I have a picture to jog my memory. On the way back I can't remember other than he was asleep when we landed and that we ended up sharing a seat with a dad who also had a lap child. I guess that is a no no but mom had a baby as a lap child too so they couldn't switch out and their seats were already separated by half a plane. Wish I could be more of a help but you have gotten lots of great suggestions so I think you are good without my two cents.
Love the family pictures. She looks right at home in her tutu.
Have a great Girls Trip on Disney!

I love your shirts. We have never done the matchy matchy thing, but we are thinking about buying matching shirts for the family and wearing them one day on our upcoming trip. My DH says he'll do it, but we'll have to wait and see. He just may back out at the last minute. He's really funny about the matchy matchy thing.
Cute shirts! And just think of Hope's shirt this way - it may be big, but she'll be able to wear it longer too!
Good Luck on the Mom's panel. I don't think I'm going to find time to enter this time. Oh well!
I saw you ask about ear planes - and you should be able to find them at a drugstore - I've found them at wal-mart before.
And Dawn - I LOVE Shutterfly. If you click on my name and then my website it takes you to my shutterfly share site and I have the books I've made on there (at the bottom I think).

You definitely have to learn to work around your child's schedule. Today I thin I found out why Hope's been acting up so much lately. Chad dropped her off at daycare this morning and started talking to one of her teacher's about it. Hope isn't aggressive with them or the other children, but a couple of the other children have been caught hitting her! I know this happens, but now it's starting to affect us at home, so I have to go talk to them about it tonight. Not sure what can be done, but I need to know how they discipline them when something like this happens. Talk about worrying...now I'm worried more than ever!

Here's my official hi! Even though we've sort of already met. Wow, 4 out of the 6 days at Epcot??? That's my kind of vacation! If you can I highly think you should get one of those milkshakes. How big was your son at 16 months? Were you comfortable with him being a lap child? We are definitely bringing the DVD player. After her meltdown this weekend I made up my mind on that immediately!

Thanks! Good luck with your DH. I don't think I could get mine to do it, so this may just be a one time deal.

That's what I thought about the shirt too...she'll grow into it. She'll definitely be able to wear it next season so that's a definite plus! So the Earplanes really work? Or should I use Tylenol instead? Last time she drank her bottle on take off, so we never had a problem. I would agree that you wouldn't have time for the mom's panel...you have way more important things to deal with coming up.
Congrats on check in!! It's like you're already there!
I think the one place you can be all matchy-matchy and not look all dorky-dorky is definitely Disney!! And I LOVE the t-shirts. I would TOTALLY do it there if I could talk my DH into it. (Funny I can get him to dress like a giant Duck but can't get him to wear matching shirts )
Good luck on the Mom's Panel...I applied too! Maybe the third time is a charm.
Melissa, CVS has the Earplanes. They work wonders. I'vebeen using them ever since they came out. Believe me, asking the flight attendants for styrophome cups with steaming hot paper towls do the trick but you have to hold those up to your ears to let the steam loosen up the pressure in your ears(and you look absolutely ridiculous doing it too), but I won't fly without them or myself, and after Skyler having severe ear pressure our last couple flights when he was under a year old, I am so happy I can pop a pair in his ears this flight to help with that. I am not sure how much tylenol will worknfor ear pressure. If it makes the difference between those in ears, adult or child, I would hope for your case with Hope that it might save you from her being fussy and there not beig much else that can aleviate ear pressure, when those do make it feel very mild to non-existant. My momand I have both had our Equalibrium off for a few days due to severe ear pressure, and I can't imagine what that feels like for a baby who can't communicate it other than cry.
I'm so excited for you also being down to single digits.
