Taggin' Along Compliments of Disney! - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Hope had her first public meltdown over the weekend, and boy, was it bad!!! Thank God my mother was with me, but all I kept thinking was "please, don't do this on the plane!" I think it was because she was overly tired, and I made the mistake of trying to feed her lunch before I let her sleep in her stroller...all I have to say is lesson learned.
On our first trip to Disney with 2 little ones...Kaelan was 3 and Brenna was 15months...we only had one meltdown the whole week and it was Kaelan and it was short and sweet(maybe 2minutes) then she was fine...we realized that trying to bring her back to the resort for nap time wasn't for her she slept better in the stroller while DH & I walked around and enjoy the parks together and we had some "alone" time while the kids were fast asleep. You find what works and mid-day naps didn't for us because by the time we got on the bus they fell asleep and then refused to nap at the resort after their "cat" nap on the bus ride. I'm sure she will be fine but at least you experienced it now and not at Disney.

Thank goodness Hope can sleep in her stroller. I mean, she was about to, but stupid me thought eating first was a bigger priority...not at all. That's how it was on our first trip with her, no naps back at the room, she just slept in her stroller. I know she will do it again that way, but this time I will let her sleep through her lunch if she wants, and feed her later.

So the one good thing about this mini-trip, is that I only have one adr to confirm and no requests. It makes it that much easier!
My mom and I were shopping the other day when we came upon the Disney Store. Well, I don't know about you, but we can't just walk by, we always go in whether we're buying something or not...just a habit I guess. Anyway, they were having a sale on t-shirts, buy 2 for $24. Now, I hate to admit this, but I don't own one Disney t-shirt!!! Yup, that's right, I've never owned or worn a t-shirt with anything Disney related embellished on it. Shocker! But things were about to change. They had this really cute pink t-shirt, and I decided to buy it to wear when we go on this trip, however, I only wanted to buy one, and the sale price was only good if you bought two. So my mom decided she wanted to buy one, but which one did she want to buy? That's right, the same one I did.
She comes up with the bright idea that we should all get a t-shirt, including Hope, so we could all match. I think it's extremely cute when other families do this, but I've never been one for doing it myself, but I really wanted to get this t-shirt. So I eventually gave in, and we both bought the shirt. Here it is:
Hope's shirt was a little bit harder to come by. They had one that had a slightly different design, but was extremely similar to ours. The only problem, it was a 2T, and she's just now starting to wear 18 months. This shirt was on sale also, so I thought I would buy it, and try to shrink it since it was 100% cotton. If that didn't work, then I would just have to find something else for her. Well, I shrunk it, and while it's not as lose on her, it's still pretty long, so I've decided that I will just have to tuck it in to her little skirt...problem solved.
So now, our little group be all cute and matchy, and while I so don't mind posting those photos on here, I can only imagine what my facebook friends will say. They already think I go to Disney way too much, but you know what? I could care less.
One other wonderful thing happened while I was trying to get a couple of things together for the trip...I came across $15 Disney Dollars that I didn't know I had!!! I know it's not a lot, but hey, that's that will be lovingly spent.
Also, I just applied for the Mickey Moms Panel, so wish my luck.
Love the t-shirts! I am not one to be matchy-matchy either, but I think it's cute when I see other families that match. I think those shirts are perfect for your trip!
All cought up again Melissa. I was off enjoying the beach for a week and you sure do miss a lot around here. Congrats on the calendar - very cute. Love all the photos thanks for sharing. You have the "Mom" pose. Child on hip and hip out to the side.
Congrats on getting checked in at bCV, Congrats on the shirts(I love them), & congrats on finding th $15 Disney Dollars. Melissa, don't worry about the matching shirts. If it makes you feel any better, my mom used to dress my sister & I up, and even she would find matching outfits with us too, but this was for a whole 7 years worth of matching, not just one shirt, one trip, every day matching. One day of it not bad at all. So sorry to hear about Hope's first public meltdown. Aren't those the worst? I so understand the whole "Please don't do this on the plane" feel. Oh btw since she's over a year old now, did you know you can use Earplanes on her now for ear pressure? May help prevent a meltdown on the plane an not give her severe ear pressure that will make her miserable. The child size is for 1+. Just an idea. Gettin closer by the day Melissa.
Congrats on getting checked in and love the t-shirts! Very cute! We have done the matching thing before & I enjoy it. Some people might think it looks silly but I don't care what they think - it's my vacation, not theirs I think you guys will look adorable and we definitely want to see pics!!
