The I CAN NOW TALK about my trip TR 8-15 to 8-21,2010 COMPLETED - Page 30 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It appreared to be raining so we headed over to innoventions for a while. I went to smoke first and told them I would meet them over there. When I got there, I texted Katie to find out where they were. That was pretty silly of me, because if there are video games somewhere that's where Dave would be. They played games for a while after I told them when we needed to leave. After Innoventions we headed over to our BIG lunch at Le Cellier. I was looking forward to this for a year!!!!! We arrived 20 minutes early and were told to take a seat. 5 minutes later, we were seated and Melissa came over to be our server. She was outstanding and very talkative. David ordered the NY strip steak with yukon potatoes. Katie ordered the potato gnocchi with eggplant, cherry tomatoes, and pesto broth. I ordered the mushroom filet. OMG!!!! Everything was to die for. Sorry no food pictures throughout our whole trip except one at the beginning and one at the end!!! Dave and I kept eating off Katie's plate it was just sooo goood!! I ate everybit of it!! Of Course I did!!!! David and Katie shared a dessert...the chocolate cake and I got the chocolate mousse!!!! Everything was fabulous. I love my food and when I am happy I hum. I was humming up a storm through that meal!!! The total for lunch was $109.61. I think we left Melissa somewhere between $25 to $30.00 for a tip. Like I said she was Awesome!!!
After lunch, we rolled over to see Ellen. I actually nodded off during the ride I know David definitely did. We went over to Mousegears and looked around for a while. I wanted to get a new hoodie since I actually wore out my POP century one because I wore it everyday like it was my skin. They were selling windbreakers for $9.95 when you spend $25.00 so instead of getting rain ponchos we all spent enough to each get one!!! I got a t-shirt and a really nice hoodie.
We went over to TT to ride that again. We also went on MS:green version to do that again. We decided to call it a day. We went back to POP to go swimming and get something to eat. The pool was like bath water so it was in and out for me. Kate swam for a while. We ate at POP. Nothing special there and called it a night.
Tommorrow was our free day and we were going to DTD for the day with dinner at Kona Cafe!!!

Just found your report and have read all of it and am LOVING it!
I also am from Mass (and drive a Jeep lol) and am so trying to get to Disney for the first time hopefully in 2011 or 2012. I have been thinking of maybe going in August with the free dining so am glad to read about how your trip went. I mean, with the weather we've had here in Mass this summer, it can't really be worse, right?

Jessica-the weather was just as hot here and there. The front of my shirt was soaking wet for 7 straight days. Let's put it this way. I ate huge the week we went and didn't gain a single pound because I sweat it all off. The heat index all week was 103. But I wouldn't have traded it for anything!!!!
Great update! I had the same meal as you at Le Cellier - I still dream about it...LOL!! Mission Space is one we still haven't tried yet, but maybe in 2 years when we go back.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while but work is kicking my butt!!! I work at Home Depot and am an inventory management specialist. I do all the price changes and stuff like that. Well, I have to stop at 10AM to help customers, so I go to receiving and help them instead. Receiving is really hard work!!! But I really like doing that because I need to stay busy, busy, busy. Anyway...back to my trip.
Tuesday, August 17th
We had a free day today which David likes. I personally prefer to be able to go to the parks but that's just me. Anyhoo....we were going to Disneyquest. yeah...more video games. I never had the desire to go but since we never had before it's something they wanted to do so there you go. We got up and decided to skip breakfast. We headed to DTD and Dave said let's try your Earl of Sandwich. I'm always saying I want to go there. Well...WOW what a great place this is. David got the BLT, Katie got the tuna melt and I got the all american. We absolutely loved these sandwiches. We kept saying these are really good. We were going to make a point trying to get there again.
We headed over to Disneyquest. We bought tickets there and waited in line for them to open. I kept going into the shop next door to stay cool. At 11:30am we got in. What a cool place. We did the Pirates ride which was fantastic. We loved that one. We did the jungle cruise which was a hoot. We just kept laughing through that one and Katie even fell out of the "boat" We failed that mission but it was fun. Katie and Dave did Cyberspace mountain twice. We did the pinball slam. That was hard work but fun. The favorite thing they did was Buzz's Astroblaster. I think they did that one 3 times. I played the arcade games while I was waiting. we had a fabulous time WHO KNEW??? We were gamed out about 5 and headed to the bus to go to Kona Cafe.
We got to the Poly about 1/2 hr early, so we looked around in the stores there. We went upstairs and checked in. Boy is it noisy and busy up there. We went over to the little shop and decided to try and buy a vinylmation to see what that was all about. I bought the muppets one because I wanted to get beaker...he's my favorite. So we decided, we get what we get because it is fun to see. We waited to open it until dinner. Our buzzer went off and in we go. They walked us past the dessert area. Katie's eyes bugged out at the Kona Cone so we knew what ahe was getting. Our waitress was Malia. She was wonderful. I got a Malibu Macaw. It was really good.
Katie ordered the pan asain noodles with chicken AND shrimp
Dave ordered the pomegranate barbequed pork chop with potatoes and swiss chard
I ordered the mahi-mahi with bok choy and asain noodles.
Everything was fabulous. The food outstanding!!!!! David declared that we will always get the food plan and why didn't we do this before.
For dessert Katie got the Kona Cone of course and Dave had the apple stack. I got the KilaueaTorte (sp sorry) . Wow so rich!!! I can't say enough good things about the resturant and Malia. Every place we ate was great.
The meal came to $114.16. 3 DDP credits please!! Our portion was $8.79 plus a $25.00 tip.
After dinner we went down to the docks and took a boat over to Magic Kingdom. Then we hopped on a bus for Boardwalk and headed there again. David really wanted to do that Surry bike. Really? I just ate...so that's what we did. You get 30 minutes to make the loop around and back to rental. That far HUH??. Katie and David sat in front. I sat behind David. We started off okay. We kept stopping for pedestrians. I said ring the darn bell!!! Anyway we get to the first bridge and OMG I'm dying. We pass the Yacht and Beach club. Looks really nice. Hey they have movies....oh sorry I should be pedaling. We get to the 2nd bridge and got passed by a surry bike with only 2 people. We really stink at this. Boy are we out of shape. Anyway...we finally make it back the the rental area and I checked my watch. How long did that take 1 or 2 hours??? OH NO!!! We have 15 minutes left!!!! I informed David we still had time left and he says...oh no we are done, wasn't that fun??? We walked around for a while and went into a few stores. I went and bought my $10.00 pack of cigarettes. Yeah I know I'm an idiot!!! David couldn't believe that they sold boxes of doughnuts and loaves of bread. He really needs to pay attention more. We decided to call it a night and went back to POP. They stopped at the arcade....you would think that 5 1/2 hrs at DQ would have been enough...but no...
I wandered and then ended up getting my arcade card, too.
Finally headed back to the room to go to sleep. We were finally going to MK the next day.
Oh yeah....my vinylmation... I got Miss Piggy. Oh well we will try again, and again, and again. Do I ever get Beaker??? Tune in to find out....
