As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Thanks Wendy. In what capacity did your niece work for Amtrak? I think it would be cool to work there but IMO I would think being on the train itself would be the toughest place to work. I can just see me now working in the dining car - any and all food I'd try to carry would end up on top of someone instead of in front of them
Its funny that I cannot remember what part of the train that Kristy worked on........I'd like to say she went through the cars. Her boyfriend(later husband) worked in the dining car. He was working the steam table when the train derailed north of Sanford years ago.........won several $k from his injury.
She had made a lot of friends working on that train. Several of them switched their shifts to come to her funeral 6 years ago.
I reading about trains, I find them very fascinating.

Darlene, I am so excited to see you are finally posting your Trip Report. I so enjoyed your report from last years trip and have been looking forward to it. Some of the tips/tricks you had from your last report helped us on our trip last Jan. Your report will definitely will help get me through the 4+months we have until our next trip.
Glad the keys for your room worked right the first time, when I read your were checking into your hotel I thought "oh no, let's not have a repeat of the key problem from last year".
It's also nice to see that Disney is so accommodating to their guests with disabilities. I'm happy you got a mattress that would work for Lenny and not leave him sore and miserable in the morning!
I must have a 2nd class computer, because I find it difficult to read your posts with the small text. Is anyone else having the same issue?
To make the font bigger try pressing the ctrl key while using the scroll wheel on the mouse, you can change the font size depending on which way you scroll.
The text is really small. I just increased the size on my screen to see it. I'm guessing its because she is pasting it from a different document.
I have to say I am really impressed that Disney changed the bed for you. That is amazing and I really can't believe that would happen anywhere else. Understandably it was for medical reasons, but you know any other hotel would have been like - oh well we can put the boards in, but that's all we can do.
Also - its always amazing how depending on the cm involved you can have amazing things happen or really frustrating experiences. Glad they took care of you.
Sounds like you had a very good day. I am glad that they were able to fix the mattress situation for you. That's what I call Disney Service .
I loved your pictures of Toon Town. I really hope it is still open when we are there in October. It's bad enough that Small World will be closed because I know my DGD would have loved it.
Abby looks happy in the pictures and I think Lenny enjoyed seeing the fairies especially Tink.
The only small problem I am having with your TR is the size of the font. I am having trouble reading it. I don't know if it just my computer but it's really small, but I will read on no matter what .

Love all the little magic moments even the mousekeeping ones! I can't EVER get my bed as neat as a hotel one either...grrr.

I hit something on the computer today that changed the size of the font but on my computer, it got much larger so I figured it would be okay. This post was regular size print. The post where you use quotes and respnd to other's are also regular size. The trip reports are very tiny and difficult to read.

Okay and thank you so much. I'll go into my word processor and change the font size that way and hopefully it'll do the trick.
For me, all of the post had very small print, I wish I would have seen smoore424's reply first. Now everything is big. I never knew that trick either. I enjoyed reading more of your trip. Changing out the entire bed, for a brand new one...WOW! That's awesome. On our last trip, the bed drove me crazy b/c every time I would move it would squeak. Glad you were able to sleep well on your vacation.
