Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Great pictures - I'm glad Eric was able to at least enjoy SOMETHING in port! Sounds really nice! I can't wait to read about Antigua! We're definitely going to do a cruise at some point - it's just a matter of finding out WHEN...

I'm so glad Eric got to get his 'redflag' removed. And that he finally got to step off the ship and join the real world. Looks like he had some great views from the ship and up paradise point. Do we get to see a pic of the t-shirt he bought?

Wow what a gorgeous day you had. Love the pics of you and Eric's parents, the water behind you guys is just beautiful. And the VS bathing suit looks FAB on you!!!
So, you get easily sea sick??? Funny coming from someone who cruises as much as you guys do.
Okay, so there were probably people, just like you, laughing at Eric's mom when she went all rinse cycle in the waves, so maybe you guys were just getting your turn when you laughed at bathroom-door guy. Fair is fair
Okay, so I'm glad Eric got to get off the boat, but at least while he was resting he got to do it on an amazing hammock and with an incredible view. Love the sunset pics he took when you guys were sailing away. And from up on the boat, you can really see how blue the water is in the pics he took.

Looking forward to Antigua. I think you might be doing the beach day that we did (like a hundred years ago )

Trunk Bay looked beautiful, I felt so bad that Eric was stuck back at the room sick. Glad that some extra sleep truly helped and that he was able to go out and enjoy a little bit before you sailed off.

So glad Eric felt better! Sounds like a great day! And that water looks amazing. Too funny about Eric's mom (though I feel really guilty laughing about it ). I was laughing about the guy on the boat, too, but I don't feel bad about that. You looked really pretty in that dress, too. I think that's a great color on you.

First off I have to say in just a few minutes I will hit DOUBLE DIGITS FOR MY UPCOMING DISNEY VACAY double digits rock!!!!

Also, sorry it took me so long to get back to writing but I went to florida last week to help a friend find an apartment in Tampa for her new job She really had to twist my arm on that one! We had a beach day at Pass-a-grill beach in St. pete and then spent the day in tampa and Ybor City and then on last Saturday we went to Blizzard Beach and DTD to eat at Bongos how much fun right?????? and a little disney in there to satisfy the disney need

OKay so I'm back with an update today and maybe I can get a couple in not sure how much time I have but I will try

Wednesday March 31st 2010
Antigua
This was a new port for us. We were so excited!
We set the alarm this day for 7am and also set it up for room service for breakfast. For those non cruisers,
you can order breakfast room service to be delivered at a certain time between like 6-11am. You just pick out what
you want on ths order card and place it outside your door before you go to bed Its so wonderful, I hate they
dont have this option for my home

I walked outside after my coffee was poured to see we had just docked in Antigua.

We watched this boat come in and dock next to us...

It was very third world country looking from the port area. I think from our pics you can see that. But, it was really
a wonderful little island. We sat on the balcolny and drank coffee. We ate our breakfast and then all got ready to head
downstairs for our excursion.

We booked the Historic Antigua and Beach excursion. So, we packed a beach bag and wore our bathing suits
under our clothes.
Our excursion was from 815-1245pm.

We were out on the pier at 800am and ready for our excursion. While waiting on the pier we stood in between our boat
and another cruise ship. They had us all stand in lines behind the excursion sign. There was a lovely Carribbean band
playing music while we waited and I wish now I had bought the cd but hindsight...ya know

We waited for about 15 minutes and they then led our group off the pier and into this area where there were buses waiting
to be boarded. We had a rather large group but they separated us into groups of about 12.

We sat in the very back of the bus so that we could all sit next to one another. The bus was air conditioned on the way to the
first part of our journey.

We went through downtown area first. We took pictures as our tour guide told us different aspects of the town and buildings.

This was supposedly the smallest house on the island and a little old man lived here and took care of a garden that supplied most of his food.

she was a great tour guide and a different person actually drove the van. She told us some really cool facts about
Antigua on our way to The Dow's Hill INterpretation Center. One thing she told us was that it was going to be
a terrible Hurricane Season this year. She said you can tell by the way the fruit and plants bloom. I thought
that was really cool. We also noticed these fancy front doors on all the homes that looked as if they were falling apart.
She said all the front doors are hand carved to show as a thing of pride. I thought that was a really cool fact.
They also have a fruit called I believe Black Pinapples. She said they are amazing and the best pineapple that you will
ever eat. We sadly did not get the chance to try one

We finally reached the Dow's interpretation center after a very rough and winding, 45 minute drive.
We unloaded and were given free rein to explore here. It was a little building with a food place and a little gift
shop to explore.

Here is the front of it

Then as you walked through there was this overlook onto Nelson's Dockyard, a 18th century British Naval
dockyard.
We took a bunch of pictures......

You can see his parents below here

This is their local beer which was REALLY good

towards the end a little rain shower came through, we got a little wet but nothing bad and
we went into the gift shop and waited it out and is passed very quickly. THIS WAS THE ONLY Rain we saw the entire trip

Me out in front after the rain with a water because I was soooo thirsty because it was super hot!

Eric in the same pose

We then boarded the bus after about 30 minutes or less. We then headed to shirley Heights another lookout sight for pictures
We took about a 10 minute ride over there and here we had about 15 minutes.
we took a bunch of pics and she told us some historical facts. this place was really cool because it had wonderful open
air resturant there and a cute little gift shop.

There were also local women and children selling necklaces, etc which
were very pretty.
Here are some of our pictures here

The Nelson's Dockyard from this outlook

Eric liked this cactus

We boarded once more and headed down to Nelson's dockyard, the place we had been taking so many pictures of in the first
place It was about a 15 minute drive here. The roads are very winding and downhill.

We got off the bus here where they lead us on a tour of this dockyard.

We had a tourguide here who took us through this
the history of this place. It was VERY interesting and I really did enjoy this tour.

She walked us around all
the buildings telling us stories, legends and the history of each building.
She told us there was a house where the General lived and this bottom part where the water was is where they loaded and unloaded boats when they came in...

This tour lasted about 20 minutes.

Once
it was over we had about 15 minutes to explore and buy souvies. I bought a shirt and I cannot remember what Eric bought.
We walked around looking at souvies and each building.

You can see our tour guide here

There were many resturants here and it was a really cool place
to be.

We then walked back out and loaded up again to head to the Beach Break.
These guys were playing some game on the way out...

coming up next: Turner's Beach Break and downtown Antigua.....
