As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.

Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great update Cheryl! The whole State liquor store thing baffles me too, it is not like that here in Georgia. Every state is different though and even some areas of the US are still "dry" so you just don't know what you are going to get when you travel here in the good old USA. In our area it is sold all over but not in stores on Sunday, you can get served in a bar or restaurant on Sunday but you can not buy it and take it home. I think that is backwards, coming from Florida where you could buy it on Sunday after 1pm. I also believe that PA has separate stores for beer and you can not buy it at all in the supermarket. At least that is how it was 10 years ago when I was up there. So to each state its own. Can't wait to read more, love all the cow pictures!

Loved seeing your pictures of the Cow Farm with all the cats!!! Very sad that the farms are being sold off Glad that you were able to see so much of the countryside on your various trips around PA.
By the way, on the subject of cows, I just had to share this website with you - Thank you cows. It's all one huge advert for yoghurts over here, but we saw the TV ad last night and were just enthralled. It's worth a look to see what Mary the cow gets up to!

Wednesday 30 December – part five: Mark’s first ever trip report...
We headed out and over to Tannersville, which is where Sue works. Fortunately, while we were there, it was all quiet on the western front for them and I was able to see where Sue worked, first their rest areas....
Then her rig, which was neat. We got some cool photos around the rig and I was amazed to learn that they can leave the ambulance running without locking them here. You couldn’t do that at home. : They have to be locked whenever there isn’t anyone in them, because sadly otherwise they’ll be targeted by vandals or drug addicts.
Mark with the IV drip... Me with the IV drip – I didn’t do so well with it! ”Now what does this button do?”
So how had Mark spent his day with Sue? Now, a chance to find out, as he wrote up his experiences...
Buzz ,buzz, buzz! The alarm goes off at 5 am, I have to turn off alarm before it wakes Cheryl (failed that one). This is supposed to be a vacation, but here I am getting up to go to work? Okay not quite true, but it felt very similar to me getting up at home. Today’s the day I go to work with Sue and her work college Margo. Sue, if you didn’t know, is a paramedic and works for the Central Pocono Ambulance Association in Pennsylvania.
Anyhow I digress, after a shower I got dressed and went to the kitchen Sue was already up and feeding the four cats (Rocky,Adrienne,Mickey,Tigger) and the two dogs (look I can wag my tail really fast Cody and Eeyore oops sorry Belle). Sue went out to start the car to get it warm as the temperature was a very respectable 17f (-8c) or as Sue would say a heat wave, not sure about that but hey I’m only a British tourist.
5.30am
Ok it’s time to leave as it’s about a twenty minute drive to the house (place of work). Ok what did surprise me was the amount of traffic on the road all going to work at 5.30. On the way we passed the park and ride to New York and already there were about twenty cars parked there. I think Steve would be moaning about that and saying the Tourons are here. Note from Cheryl – explanation of Touron to come – stay tuned! Steve does not like people that commute to work. The journey was fine and no hold ups and before I realised it we were there. Of course I didn’t know that until Sue announced that we were here.
Not quite sure how to describe the building, apart from large heated garage with accommodation upstairs. Oh yes the rather large Bingo hall next door which was part of the same building. Now I thought that Bingo was an English thing played by the grey rinse brigade or middle aged woman for a night out.
There are about eight different types of ambulance housed in the garage which is heated to keep them nice and warm. Here I met Margo, Sue’s co-worker, partner she’s been a paramedic for about 15 years. After the introductions Sue and Margo set about putting the world to rights as all good women do! (Well this happens in my house!)
We ventured upstairs to the lounge which was in darkness. This is where we found the night shift waiting for the changeover. The upstairs consisted of a television area with settees to crash on, kitchen computer room and the two bunk rooms. If you were really lucky you could also watch the bingo in the evening from the window.
Now I didn’t really know what to expect here, having seen the USA TV at home and it’s all go and of course the good old role call. But this is a small station and after the other day crew departed to the southern end of their dispatch area, it was just Margo and us left kicking our heels.
6.45am
Now it was about this time that Sue kept saying that when Donna was here that they had their first call and that they didn’t have time for breakfast. So it was decided that we go and get the bagels from the store down the road. Now I fail miserably here and cannot remember what Sue & Margo had but I’m a traditionalist and had Piglet in mine. Back at the house Sue and Margo had coffee with their bagels, while I had to have my fix of PG Tips (no surprise there then). After being fed and watered, Margo did paper work, Sue went to bed and I multi-tasked book reading and listening to the iPod Chez bought me for Christmas (thank you). After much whinging about the amount of callouts they got when Donna visited, I said they should be pleased that it was quiet and that they could catch up things.
Just a quick note - as it's Mark's sister's wedding later today, I have no idea when the update will be tomorrow. There will be one at some point, but obviously not first thing in the morning. :
Just caught up Cheryl - great passporter meet, what a wonderful turnout. So nice that you got to see Marnie after not seeing her for so long and getting to meet Jeff, what a wonderful birthday surprise he had waiting.
Talk about seeing cows...WOW that was definitely quite a group you got to visit. Glad Mark was enjoying his time visiting with Sue at her job, can't wait to hear more on his version of the day.
