left with 2 good ones came back with one-trip report-forgot something 5/8 - Page 16 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Shelby reminded me of a few things that happened that I forgot & HAD to share (thanks, Woo!)
We had several hilarious moments in WDW people watching.. Nothing more entertaining
The first was the DHS day.. We were waiting for the bus to go back to POFQ & a family got in line behind us.. no one else was waiting but us & them.. It was a husband & wife & their 2 little children (boy & girl) the kids were very close in age. 2-3 at the most
The little boy kept going under the ropes & onto the street while waiting for the bus. The Mom told him to come on the other side of the rope & he wouldn't listen, she told him 2 more times & then added "If you don't come over right now, there will be consequences" He didn't listen so Mom went over & got him & put him next to her & told him that he was in a time out for 2 minutes. well sister decided to go over & taunt the little boy .. Mom reprimanded her told her she would be in time out. After the 2 minutes mom went over to the little boy & told him he was punished for going into the street & went into a litany of the dangers of going into the street. I guarantee you, the message was too adult & totally lost on the little one. She then said "Okay, now ask for forgiveness" . Jim, Shelby & I looked at each other & smirked.. Guess Mom watched Super Nanny.. but wanted her own spin so instead of having him say I'm sorry, she wanted "ask for forgiveness". All was well for about 2 minutes... What did little boy do?? BAM... back into the street.. Mom brought him back again & this time his consequence (her word) was he lost his stuffed toy.. WE got on the bus & giggled.. Super Nanny wasn't helping this bunch.
Episode #2.. We are on the bus coming back from DTD (I think) & these 2 little girls are sitting across from us.. I don't pay attention but Shelby nudges me & tells me the girls are staring at her. I look over & sure enough they are ..they're probably 9-10 & trying to be 'cool', they've got their cell phones out & are clearly texting each other (while sitting next to each other) & are looking at Shelby after each text & giggling. I tell Shelby they are just jealous of her.. well, if you haven't learned by now in reading this TR, Miss Shelby is VERY 'forward' she does the stare down at these girls & gives them "the Shelby' look.. now this look is a semi smirk & 'don't mess with me' look.. sort of like "WHATEVER!, {{snap snap}}" Girls stop staring & continue to text.. Shelby (being Shelby) wont let it go & starts whispering nonsense to me & has me just look at the girls & giggle.. Well, hey we're in Disney so I revert back to a teen again & play the giggle game with Shelby.. the girls had no idea what to do.. so they enlist a teen boy that was in their group.. he looks over at Shelby & I see him mouth to them "she's hot!" I had to keep myself from laughing.
Last episode, I'm not 100% clear on it .. Shelby.. it was the boy who wouldn't calm down.. help me out here. It was another funny moment but I can't remember the entire story so I'll wait & let Shelby tell it.
Shelby came home & reminded me of the last funny story..
We were waiting for a bus at POFQ ( seems all stories are related to a bus) & there was a family with 2 young boys (15& maybe 12) well, 12YO was being a brat & jumping on all of the benches, running back & forth & banging into the pop machine.. Then his brother started to tease him poking at him, slapping him etc. 12YO went crazy kicking brother & slapping him
His brother told him to calm down & 12YO went ballistic.. he started to scream" Don't tell me to calm down, I don't want to calm down" while jumping up & down, kicking& stomping his feet & throwing a tantrum (yes at 12YO) by this time everyone waiting for the bus was staring & Dad walks over to the boy & starts to try to calm him down & 12YO goes crazy on dad.. "I can't calm down, you're telling me to calm down is making it worse" I at first thought that maybe this boy had some emotional issues so I was trying to be more understanding but then realized it was just a spoiled brat. the way he was saying the "I can't calm down" was comical.. plus big brother was also a brat for antagonizing his little brother.
Will finish up our last day as soon as I get those pics in order...

They say all good things must come to an end & so must our great trip to Disney world. This was our last day at WDW. Our plane didn't leave until 8:30pm & DME was picking us up at 5:20 so we basically had a full day in the park..
We had breakfast ADR's at Boma but with my toe still hurting, I didn't think I could take all the walking & on & off the bus so we opted to eat at Sassagoula & then go spend our last day at MK.
I had an omelet & Jim & Shelby has waffles.. my omelet was horrible.. I don't like gobs of cheese & they really overdid it.
Went back to the room & showered & got ready.. packed up everything & taped up my toe.
After we got everything packed we went down to the concierge & was able to check our bags at the desk .. it was the first day for Southwest to be a part of DME bag check..
After that we hopped on the bus to MK.. while there I was figuring out how many meal/snack credits we had left & after lunch & dinner we would have 2 meal credits left.. I texted Jamie & Brendan & asked them if they wanted to meet us, we'd buy their lunch with our credits.
When we got to MK it was packed.. The Easter crowd sure had arrived. Shelby had been saying for days how she wanted to get her hair gelled & pixie dusted at the Barbershop.. we headed over & no one was in there.. so she got her 'do'
She was very pleased with it ...
Most rides had 40+ minute waits.. even IASW.. We did hop into line as no matter how grating that song is, it doesn't feel like a Disney trip unless you ride IASW.
We just walked around & rode any ride that had a semi small line ..
loved the small brook by Belles storytime
It was getting lunch time & we hadn't yet eaten at one of our favorite places- Pecos Bill.. they were using the new 'sit with your entire party' MK policy.. When we walked in we were handed a menu & were told that EVERYONE in our party had to be together to be seated. That was a bummer to me as my toe was hurting & I would have preferred to sit while Jim got the food. we all got Cowboy burgers (with BBQ sauce & fried onion rings) . After we got our food & condiments, we were directed to a CM by a sandwich board stating that all people in your party had to stay together.. He asked if we were all there & we said yes & then were directed to another CM who seated us.. we were put in the WAY WAY back room..
Lunch was delicious.. the burger??? nom nom... it was soo good.
We left Pecos Bill & the crowds had increased tremendously..
Headed over to adventureland. saw the Tiki room had no line.. so we went in, amid protests from Shelby. I put Tiki room in the same 'category' as IASW & Carousel of progress.. you gotta go in/on there , just so you can come out singing the theme song.
Since we were in adventureland & I didn't get a dole whip at all this trip I insisted we stop & remedy that situation
not sure what the face is on Shelby
Jamie texted us that he was in Tomorrowland & was going to eat at Cosmic Rays.. we told him to wait & we'd be over..
Bren also texted that he wanted to say Hi (& bye, until tonight) to us.. told him to meet us at Cosmic Ray..
Jamie told us he & his friends had 10 meal vouchers left so he didn't need us to treat.. After this meal they would have 5 left that they'd never use . In fact, when they were in line, a family of 5 was behind them & Jamie offered their vouchers to them & the people were so grateful .. he said it made him feel good to see their faces. He struck up a conversation with the parents & found out they were from Michigan & were Pittsburgh Pirates fans (& admitted to it) & were coming to Pittsburgh in the Summer to take in a Bucco game & go to Kennywood..
While Jamie was eating we waited & waited & waited outside for Brendan.. he kept texting he was on his way... Finally he arrived & said it was so hard to make his way through the crowds. I texted Jamie to come out of Cosmic Ray for a minute as I wanted to get a picture of all 3 of them together on this trip..
Take One.. Shelby is looking at her brothers...
Take Two: Jamie looks as if he's got a choke hold on Brendans neck...
Finally.. Take Three.. a great pic of my 'angels'
notice how they color co-ordinated their outfits for the photo.. all in green
We hugged the boys goodbye.. wished them a safe flight & off they went..
I was soo scared that with the crowds someone was going to step on my toe & I'd be in more pain & since it was 3pm we decided to just chill out at POFQ until it was DME time..

"I can't calm down, you're telling me to calm down is making it worse" I at first thought that maybe this boy had some emotional issues so I was trying to be more understanding but then realized it was just a spoiled brat. the way he was saying the "I can't calm down"...
My son says "I can't calm down!" when I tell him to, but he's 4!
We headed over to POFQ & just walked around, enjoying the beautiful resort & taking pics..
I didn't even realize that I had made a shadow photo.. I think i put my hand down as I snapped a pic.,. I thought it was cool so I kept it
Jim was hungry & we wanted to use up our last dining credits..He got a Philly Cheese Steak & Shelby got a hot dog.. My toe was making me nauseous so I didn't get anything. Shelby couldn't finish her hot dog so she gave it to me.. Well, i'm a hot dog snob & usually don't like hot dogs served in the public. Unless you're counting Big Jims near my house.. they have the BEST hot dogs around with a delicious 'secret' sauce. The hot dog at WDW was delicious.. very tasty.
While eating I look over at Shelby & see she's got 2 scrapes.. one on her elbow, the other on her knee.. I ask what happened & she reminds me it was from when she tried to stop herself at TL.
she then went back to listening to her iPod..
and torturing Jim..
I realized it was almost time to leave my happy place..
Took one last walk around & then it was time to go to the DME spot.
Shelby, being Shelby was goofing off & while we waited for the DME bus she was reminiscing about the trip & how the Mad Hatter had her pretend she was drinking tea in their photo.
Shelby was sad to leave too..
she didn't want to hear that our trip was over..
All too soon a Mears bus pulled up .. it was the DME bus. I got on & saw several other band parents already on there. One was my friend, Cheri who is a nurse practitioner.. she saw me limping & asked what I did.. I told her & she concurred it was probably broken.
The entire bus ride to the airport there was a bratty 2YO SCREAMING behind me.. several glances over my shoulder did no good.. Mom was oblivious. When it was time to get off the bus the ladys other 2 kids ( probably 4-6) jumped up & ran to the front.. Again, Mom was oblivious. Well, everyone else got out of the bus orderly & since I was in front of her, got in line in front of her. She finally came out of her daze & said "Wheres____?" Then proceeded to go nutso saying she'd like to get to her kids but Icut in front of her. (loud enough for me to hear) I turned around & was ready to argue but figured it wasn't worth it.. she was too much of a jerk.. I just said to Jim & Shelby "It's a shame when people can't control their kids"
We got to security & I realized YIKES I'd have to take my shoes (tennis shoes) off & put them back on Well they came off okay but when I tried to put them back on I was in horrific pain. Cheri came over & looked at my toe & not only was my baby toe purple but my entire foot.. plus I was super swelled. .she suggested I go to the ER or Med Express walk in clinic (where she works) the following day.
There were quite a few band parents on our plane as we had used Early bird check in we got great boarding assignments.. A 17-18-19. I think we were the 5th in line to board. I warned Jim he'd better not take the bulk head seat again.. We sat about 1/4 into the plane.
Flight was smooth & we landed with no problems.. Jamie & Brendan's plane was landing 10 minutes after ours & since I was using Super Shuttle I didn't know if I would be able to be at the high school to pick them up. Again, my friend, Donna came to the rescue & said she'd pick them up as her plane got in to Pittsburgh around 9pm.
As we were walking to baggage claim, I see a Miami air plane at the terminal & realize it was the boys flight..
As I was walking through the terminal Donna called me & told me that she got bumped from her flight but was able to get on an earlier one & was back in Pittsburgh & able to pick the boys up. She also asked if I could check Deltas luggage area, as since she was bumped her luggage came on the 9pm flight. I told her no problem. I waited for our luggage at our baggage claim area & Jim went in search of Donnas. I look to my left & the band is standing there waiting for their luggage.. the lady at Delta told Jim that the Delta plane hadn't arrived yet but it was coming in at the same claim area as the band..
Our luggage came down quickly & we waited over at the Delta claim area & chatted with the boys & their friends. Luckily, Donnas bag was down before the bands so Jim grabbed it & we were off.
Checked in at Super Shuttle & went outside & waited for the van to pick us up.. & waited.... & waited..(with 4 other people) 45 minutes later Jim gets a call from Super Shuttle that they don't have a van going to our area & for us to go flag a yellow cab & give them the Super Shuttle code & they'd bring us home
Finally we got home around 12:30am & we weren't in the door 5 minutes when Donna pulls up with the boys & her DD Lauren in tow... We chatted a few minutes & promised to call each other the following day when we had more time to chat.
I was sore & tired so I was off to bed.. Kids came in my room & told me about their trip then we were asleep.
The day after the kids were supposed to have school but our district allows the kids to be off if they are on a school field trip that gets home after midnight. Since this was a school function this counted so the boys didn't have school Thursday & it wouldn't be counted as absent. Shelby did have school but she opted to stay home.
We all fell right asleep..
COMING UP: Final thoughts & my little souvenir from the trip...
