Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Mary Devall and I sat at the same exact table that you and Andy did at Chef Mickey's! We were there last summer for her 8th birthday and we were there for a loooong time so I remember the table well. Glad that you enjoyed your first meal there -- breakfast is by far the best!

Love your wristlet! It is so cute!

And we love the library and book fairs in our house! Mary Devall's librarian is a big Passporter reader too! So . . . you're like a rock star in our household!

Well, the book fair is packed up waiting to be picked up and my brain is finally back to normal so let’s get this thing back going

Once we left DTD we headed over to Epcot. First thing’s first at Epcot, and that’s SSE! Oh but wait, we were with Tom Baker and that meant first thing’s first at Epcot, and that’s the urination station! And what better to do while waiting for someone to come out of the bathroom than to take pictures by the bathroom..

We’re so weird.

While we waited we saw this guy that we had spotted in the parking lot again. He had been wandering the parking lot like he was looking for his car or something… but them POOF, he was by the SSE bathrooms… He wandered into the bathroom and we cracked jokes about the fact Tom was in there… and hopefully this guy wasn’t a crazy guy. It took Tom forever to come out so our jokes got worse. Finally the old guy comes out but no Tom. He goes and sits by some kid and her family and tries to chat them up. They leave. Weird. Tom was alive and came out of the bathroom so we told him all about the weird guy. We watched him for a few more minutes…he just sat there on the bench. Nothing exciting. So we left. We’re horrible.

Now it was time for SSE! We go in through the side door with Tom Baker and then go in the out to get on the ride. As usual we had to get an on ride crappy blurry but funny to us photo.

So we decided what our stupid face is going to be for the photo (some of us have to try harder than others) and the stupid camera doesn’t flash… so we spent the whole ride wondering why it didn’t take our picture… Sure enough at the end we had a video of little fake people. I was not pleased Those videos are nowhere near as interesting with little fake people.

After SSE we went to make our own ride again. Can you tell we are ADDICTED to Sum of All Thrills? I thought maybe I had learned some math and science from yesterday so I tried to apply this new knowledge… but I failed. Miserably. We had such a horrible score that we pretended we forgot it in the five seconds it took to get off the ride and down the steps. This really bugged Andy because he wanted to brag about being awesome. Whatever. I still don’t remember the score

Next up on the Epcot agenda was some World Showcase fun. We stopped in Mexico and since the Cantina is being worked on (which let me tell you, that construction sticks out really far into the Mexico walking area which creates a big ole traffic jam)… but since it was closed and we couldn’t get our beloved nachos we settled on going inside and hitting up La Cava del Tequila! We started out having to stand but a couple soon got up from one of the couch and chair sitting areas so we claimed it. Andy and I decided to do a shot of the light reserve that we had in the flight back in November. I don’t remember the name but it was gooooooood! I had at first said that I was going to do it in two drinks because I think it’s a bit bigger than a 1 and ½ oz shot. But once I started I decided to throw caution to the wind and down it which really threw off Andy because he had stopped and had to start again and I think he almost choked…. I don’t know really if he almost choked, but something happened over there… and Brandi has the picture evidence of Pom’s face… HILARIOUS! Just wait. It’ll be worth the wait. I promise.

Our shot

Pom relaxin’ on the Mexican couch.

Pom and Andy being very weird….

Me and Brandi being nice and then laughing at Pom’s Shocked Face.

I decided to have the Clasica Margarita which I had the last time. It’s a traditional margarita that has been served in Mexico City since 1963. El Mayor Blanco Tequila, with Cointreau Liquor and fresh lime juice, served chilled with a cactus-lemongrass salt rim (I totally copied that off the internet by the way). Let me tell you, that thing is fan-flippin-tabulous. I could go for one right now (if I weren’t at work… ) It’s so smooth and crisp… no acidic burn like most margaritas. And there’s a lot of it. There was enough to go around. Very good stuff indeed, I highly recommend it.

Once we finished up in La Cava we headed out to ride the Gran Fiesta and visit Donald. Tom, of course, had to go to the urination station again (at least I think he did… we got separated for a bit so I think that’s why….) and then this nonsense happened:

And on to the tour to see nekkid Donald….

After our frolic in Mexico we stopped in China for a bite to eat. I took a few pictures while folks were ordering.. you might see them on the blog at some point (speaking of the blog.. LOTS of new photos have been posted of the parks and the F&GF, so check them out!) I think Andy and I split the potstickers while the Bakers had some good Chinese food. Then we meandered on around to Germany for a drink and some food. Tom hit up the candy store while Andy got a pretzel und beer, and I set up my tripod to take a few pictures while he was in there. We ended up with one of us…

Finally, we ended up in Japan by the Bakers’ tree to watch Illuminations. I took some pictures but was not really happy at all with them…

After the fireworks we stopped in France b/c I wanted some food now.. we’re all on such random eating schedules! It was EMH at the park so Boulangerie Patisserie was still open I had my usual ham and cheese croissant. Oh how I LOVE that thing! We sat out in France and ate and then made the long walk back to the car. It’s a long tiring walk from any part of the World Showcase to the parking lot when you’re pooped, let me tell you!

The Bakers dropped our tired behinds off at Pop and pretty soon we were snoozin’.. another Disney Day in the books.

Coming up: A morning at the Studios!
