left with 2 good ones came back with one-trip report-forgot something 5/8 - Page 8 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

More, More, More!! This is such an awesome TR!! I just feel like I know you and your family! I'm pretty sure if Shelby comes up for adoption I'm gonna take her!! HAHAHA!! Such a fun girl!! I LOVE that! Reading your TR just makes my day!
Boys said goodbye to Grandma & then we headed back to POFQ. I didnt want to stay in the room because it looked like the rain had stopped so after getting spruced up in the room, we decided to go to DTD.. The boats weren't running.. the CM at the dock told us there was 4" of water from the storm & the boats couldn't get under the bridges..

I think you'd give her back after one day of her antics.. the girl is VERY high maintenance & hormonal.. (typical pre-teen) & BTW she's been reading this TR with interest & surprisingly is enjoying re-living the memories. She keeps asking if she can join PP so she can add her own version of things ( now that is scary!)
thanks everyone for all of your great comments.. I am having a blast with this report.. & feel so good that you all like it..more on the way....
We woke up around 8am & the weather was still looking yukky.. i had told Amy that I would call her if I needed a ride buddy for EE but it looks like we weren't going to get over to AK until the afternoon.
WE met MIL in the food court & had breakfast with her.. I got a croissant sandwich which was pretty good. I think everyone else had Mickey waffles.
Around 9:15 we headed over to DME & within minutes it was there to take MIL to the airport.
WE still hadn't showered & weren't in a big hurry to start the day.. the clouds were still looking yukky & I thought it might rain.
Moseyed around the resort & took some photos of POFQ
our room with the Jonas brothers posters.. Shelby would pass the window on the way back to the room & say hi to Nick every time
one thing I noticed is there were tons of squirrels at POFQ.. & they seemed unafraid of humans ..
WE got back to the room & Shelby hopped back into bed..
I took a photo of the tuba in the bedspread for Jamie & Brendan
We got ready & headed out the door to Animal Kingdom.. It was already 11am & we had 1pm lunch ressies at Tusker House.
On the bus Brendan texted me that he was on Kilimanjaro safari & to come over to meet him... we went over & sat on a bench by the exit & waited... & waited... & waited... There was a group of people sitting next to us & when the lady got up she wasn't paying attention & ran her stroller over Shelby's foot.. the lady apologized profusely & asked if Shelby was ok.. Shelby said Yes but in typical impish Shelby fashion looked at me & said "No, I'm not okay, I'm crying!!" laughing. Little did Shelby realize that the other people milling around were in that group & one gal heard her & kinda looked at her strange.. that made us laugh even more..
We waited about 20 minutes for Brendan then decided to head over to Tusker House..
Lunch was awesome!! I enjoyed all of the different salads especially the couscous one. Jim got a kick out of the sandwich area where they had an assortment of cold cuts & cheese in addition to peanut butter & jelly. I think the only thing I didn't care for was the curry chicken.. it was bland tasting to me. The desserts were outstanding.. Baklava, lava cake & key lime tarts.. I could go on.. they were all delicious...
Now Shelby was still in a silly mood & our waiters name was "Travis" & every time he came to the table she had to use his name. he'd bring drinks "Thank you, Travis". he asked how everything was " Everything is just great, Travis"
After we left the crowds were CRAZY. Jim had wanted to ride EE & I told him to get a FP but they were gone for the day & it was a 120 minute wait stand by.. I knew there was EMH on Wednesday so I told him we'd be back to AK then.
We decided to leave AK & go back to the resort to swim..it seems the older I get the less I 'do' crowds well.. it was just overwhelming.
We stopped at the gift shop & Shelby found a cute necklace set ..it was 3 dog tags & had little Mickeys on it & said Best friends.. She has 2 BEST best friends so we thought that was perfect. She also found a bracelet for my SIL who was taking care of our parrot.
Great updates! So glad the weather held out for the boys to march down main street! Sounds like a fun meal at Crystal Palace despite the lacking service..... Looking forward to hearing about Whispering Canyon!
Shelby just reminded me that she bought another necklace at AK... It was a little red heart with an apple that said "Midnight never strikes when you're in love" too cute!!
She keeps asking if she can join PP so she can add her own version of things ( now that is scary!)
I think that would be awesome.
Have the entire family write the TR together, each in their own "voice". Use a change of color and/or font to help denote who's "talking" at any given moment.
I had the biggest goose-bumps and chills-every time I hear a good HS marching band it instantly takes me back to my band days & marching band is some of my most fondest memories ever! Thanks so much for sharing that! When we performed in the MK (once upon a long time ago) I don't remember if we marched down Main ST or not. All I remember is my metallic pom-poms were melting in that FL sun!
