As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). Update on my Kidney Stone Drama...Now updated 4/9 in post #23
So, as some of you may remember I had an apt. to see a urologist yesterday. After a brief introduction I was told I would need to have Lithotripsey. He kind of beat around the bush about it, but I figured as much. Things have changed a lot since I had the same procedure 11 years ago. For starters, they used to do stones on both sides at the same time. Now they know better and will only do one side at a time. Also, I can't have any Ibuprophen for a whole week before for fear of bleeding from the kidneys after the procedure. I take Motrin for back and knee pain daily, so I have had to have a prescription change for that. They gave me Vikodin. Like I can take that and then drive for the press route! I am doing my best to not have to take anything... Also, they didn't know there was a chance that the crushed particles can block the kidneys all together. Don't know what they do if this happens. And the procedure may not be able to crush the stones at all. If that happens, it's a stone by stone basis as to what the options are. The least of which is that we see if I pass the stones on my own.
Anyway... all options considered, my appt for Litho is on April 15th. I don't know the details yet, but I'm sure I will probably be in all of the 15th and then overnight for observation. (at least thats how it worked last time.) Could you all spare pixies that I can make it to the 15th with little or no need for pain meds, then through the procedure and recovery okay. By the way, we will be doing the left side first as there are three stones there. All between 5 -8 mm. (The right side has one for sure and may have one begining to form.) Not sure when we will be able to do the right side...

Now you know I've got to jump on my soap box for just a minute-please don't get mad, it's the RN in me-I'm a big advocate for patients to be as pain-free as we can get them. This means that I'm not one of those old crochety RN's that just show up to collect a paycheck-and make their patients suffer until they decide it's convenient for them to get off their rear/off the phone/take their hand out of the doughnut box/etc. etc. and medicate their patients. Can you tell this is a pet peeve of mine?
Please, please, PLEASE don't deny yourself pain medication that will make you comfortable because you don't like to take anything routinely. If you go too long and are in dire straits the meds won't work as effectively. Is there anyone that can go with you for the procedure that could drive you home afterwards so you can be medicated immediately after? One of my nursing professors had repetitive issues w/kidney stones and had lithotripsy about 3 times during my time there. I'm hoping for your sake that this time will blast those little troublemakers into tiny smithereens and give you well-needed relief!!!
Thank you Jookiba. The pain meds I'm referring to are the ones I usually take for long term pain (I have a bad back and some knee pain from a long ago strain). DH will be taking the day off on the 15th (and if he absoloutly must on the 16th) and will be there as long as he can be (he also has an apt. on the 15th). My issues are with the fact that they gave me Vicodin for this. I have to drive for work and if I take the Vicodin, it makes me sleepy. Not a good combo. Driving and sleeping don't mix well.
As I have a VERY low pain tolerance (Almost non existant) I also am one for making yourself comfortable. And believe you me, I will be VERY comfortable when all is done.

Well good-that makes me feel better. My dad is as stubborn as a horse and absolutely refuses to take anything but tylenol. I try almost every day to have him take something for his feet but he refuses. Maybe someday!!!
My DH has been suffering with kidney stones for a couple of years now (his Dad had them and our son has also had one bout with one!). He just had what we hope is his last lithotripsy almost a month ago. On the day we arrived at 5:30 am for an Xray (to make sure it was still in the same place) and then he was taken to the pre-op area for same day surgery. His procedure was scheduled for 7:30 am and by 8:10 I was talking to his doctor about how it went. He was in recovery for a bit then I was called to join him. He was fully awake and was getting ready for a morning snack (he is also diabetic so he needed some food). He finished some cookies and a diet soda and after a potty stop he was released to home. We were back in our house by 11 am.
This last stone was stubborn and to insure all the particles pass out twice a day he has to drink 16 oz of water, wait 30 minutes, then lay (head down) at a 30 degree angle for 30 minutes, then drink another 8 oz of water. This time he is still seeing particles up until a couple of days ago. Of course those particles are like sand and cause no pain when they pass out.
So, I hope your procedure goes well and that you can also do it as a same day patient. Here's a few
