Walking in a Disney Wonderland, December 8-15, 2009 - COMPLETE!! 5/7 - Page 43 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

This is crazy......I must have been following you. I was at MVMCP the same night as you, AND was at DTD that same day you were for the sale......I was one of the people waiting till 10am so I could go into WoD. Tooooo funny. Now I'm super curious what you did the rest of your trip to see if we crossed paths even more.
Great shopping you did !

Yes! I got both discounts!! You could use up to 2 - I'm not sure if that's all the time or if was special that day. I'll have to try and remember in August.

I've just given myself a Sunday treat by reading this trip report right through from the beginning - it's been a great read
Congratulations on your pregnancy. I also had much worse morning sickness (actually all day sickness) with my daughters than with my son.

Thanks so much for reading!!
And thanks for the insight on the morning sickness. It does seemt o be worse this time around. I'll find out one way or another in about 8-10 weeks.
do you show your AAA card for the discount? I am not sure if I knew AAA cards got a discount at WOD. we always used our AP's. Good to know though, maybe after your August trip we will know if its an "all the time" thing!

Yes I showed my card. I'll try and remember to show it and ask about discounts in August for all of us trying to save a buck.
WOW i'm impressed with those awesome deals! I felt like I was on a hopped up shopping spree with you *L* Sounded like a lot of fun to me...but like you said who doesnt love disney shopping??? that little sweat outfit you got yourself sounded way too cute! do you like it???
Dylan racked up didn't he?? that is so awesome that you got all that for around 200! I know I spent a lot more than that and not sure I got that much stuff!!!
ahhhh disney shopping vicariously is the best
Cant wait to hear about beaches and cream...i've always wanted to try that out!
We dropped off all our purchases, grabbed the boys, and headed to Epcot. We were at the IG at 11:30am. We walked around WS some and filled in the Holiday Passport I made, which I think I only did at this time and only got 2-3 countries – oh well, there’s always next time. I know we went to Morocco (where you’ll see Dylan and his grandparents had a great time), Japan, then Italy where I think we (except Dylan) had some wine, Germany for a little, and then to China. We had a lunch ADR for Nine Dragons at 1:15pm. YUM! We love Nine Dragons – even picked it over LeCellier this trip. Shocking, I know!!
What a ham!!
I forgot that we saw the Drum & Fife corp - I'd never seen them before and it was really neat.
Proof that we did have wine in Italy!
Mike said he liked this cart.
We of course had to stop to see the trains - Dylan loves them!!
Ok, so as we were watching the trains a few times the little people would get red eyes and then their arms would raise - they looked like zombies. I've never noticed this before and don't know if that's the case always, but it was creepy!
After lunch, Mike & I took Dylan back to the room for a nap while Mike’s parents enjoyed the WS. Terry & Vicki came back to the room about 4:30pm and we hung out for a while. Then we decided to grab a bite to eat and try our luck at Beaches N Cream. We arrived at 6:10pm and had NO WAIT!! I wasn’t all that hungry – I think my stomach might have been upset still or it was the spice Chinese I had at lunch. I think Dylan & I shared a hot dog and then I had some ice cream (Strawberry I think) and it was really good. Mike got the No Way Jose and he really enjoyed it – Dylan did too.
After dinner, Terry & Vicki took Dylan to look at the trains in the Yacht Club and then back to the room for the night.
Meanwhile, Mike & I went to Epcot by ourselves. We had a PP meet in Italy at 8:30pm. We had a little time before we had to be there so took our time walking, stopped in Mouse Gears to browse, a few PP pics, and made a pit stop in Germany for a soccer (football) jersey ($69.23) Mike wanted (which was his Christmas present). Then it was time for the meet. I grabbed my Italian margarita before finding everyone. Now it’s been so long I can’t remember who all was there, but Heather organized it and the CLQ (minus Sharon) were there as well as lots of other people – you read the other TRs I’m sure you remember better than me. And I didn’t take any pictures!! I guess I was just wrapped up in the PP love. We watched Illuminations and chatted a little more and then we all went our separate ways. I really enjoy the PP meets and this one was just a bit better because I really only had to worry about Mike being entertained and he loves WS so much I didn’t have to worry about that; usually I have too many other people to worry about if they’re having fun too to really soak it all in.
I stopped in the World Traveler shop on the way out and got some flip flops ($10.60) hoping they’d help – my mary jane crocs were rubbing and the tennies I brought were making me hot. We were back in the room at 10:30pm and hit the sack.
