We were inspired by Samantha Brown's Carnival cruise so away we go! - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Crissy, so glad you're feeling much better. That Norovirus was awful with the 3 of us(mostly or me since I got it first, then Skyler got it while I was still sick with it so staying up allnight sick and with a sick toddler not fun). Erick got it after us and stayed home for 2 days so one of his co-workers with a newborn baby wouldn't get it. Instead of bonine and dramimine, I use the wrist bands foe motion sickness. They work immediately. Your bikini is so cute.
Have fun at the race!!! And rinse your sinuses with a neti pot afterwards...every time I go to NASCAR I get a sinus infection.
Do you guys go to Darlington?
Well, as far as motion sickness goes-- DH gets it all the time (still love every time I type "DH" like we just got married last week or something). He is notorious on some rides, boats, etc... and thats why we havent cruised yet! lol! He has tried ginger root and it works alright. It sort of repeats on you. You dont actually need the supplement, you can use regular baking ginger (like a tsp or less). He only takes stuff when he absolutely needs to and prefers ginger over the groginess of some of the other stuff like dramamine. But it doesnt work quite as well sometimes either so its a draw. Sorry I couldnt be more helpful!
Woo hoo! It's almost here! It sounds like you're really organized.

Loving the TR! I have the Smantha Brown show on this cruise on DVD but haven't watched it yet. Carnival had it on ther website for free, so i rodered it. I'm hoping to go on a cruise for the first time this year, so maybe I'll watch it this weekend to get inspired!
Hope you have a good time!
Thanks for that tip on the Bonine! I will try out that other version tomorrow. I'm going to ask for that exactly thanks for the heads up!
I CANNOT believe you have that exact DVD! I will have to order that myself!
I hope you get to go! We do really enjoy it!

That was all just a ruse to get yourself back there a few (dozen) more times before the trip. Don't think we all can't see right through you. Don't you just LOVE single digits?? And, with the mini-trip this weekend, your cruise is going to be here in no time!! So excited for you!!
I actually loved the sweet/suite comment *LOL* that was great!
I DID get the Redken spray Its really cool and thank you so much for the heads up (no pun intended *LOL*)
I totally find excuses of why I need to go to target on a weekly basis. Its so hard to pass by on the way home and not stop...did i mention its literally half a mile away???
The time has flown by! I am wondering where it went!
But so excited that I only have three days of work left before we leave

I think we spent a solid hour in the "Not so lazy" river. It's a blast, unlike your normal lazy river. Ahhhh. Jealous! Loving your polka dot dress from Target. BUT, if you like that 50's look. Throw a big red flower in your hair, or swap the black heels for snazzy RED ones!!! Just a thought. If worried about the chlorine and your new hair color, put some conditioner in your hair before swimming, comb it through and it acts as a barrier between the chlorine or salt water.
Have fun, sounds so awesome. Hope you feel better.
BTW......I'm not a big fruity frozen drink person, BUT........a Dirty Banana from Atlantis is pretty awesome. Just sayin'
YAY! Welcome to the TR! thanks for reading along
When I read your comment about Atlantis I got very excited because its cool to hear from someone who's tried it out! I plan on spending lots of time in the "not so lazy river"
OMG...I actually have some really awesome red heels set out for the dress *LOL* too cool we thought of that! I was wondering if it would be okay but your comment made me feel like it would be perfect!
Now I want a red flower too *L*
I will totally try out the Dirty Banana...not a fruity drink person for the most part either but I'm totally trying that out!!
Sounds like you have some great advice and we have a lot in common! So glad you found the TR!

I was so glad to come on here and read what you wrote about a personal experience with Ginger. YOU were so completely helpful...that was really useful info!
This is what I think i'm going to do....i'm going to take the Ginger and take some bonine/dramamine with me. I will resort to that stuff if the ginger is not enough. But, i'm like him I cannot stand the drowsiness. I feel like i'm always tired on that stuff.
I didn't use to get so motion sick but as I've gotten older it has gotten terrible!! arghhhh
thanks for the info!
Thanks for all the comments on the weekend guys!
We enjoyed the races. We sat in the suite which was sweet (Dawn..I had to say that *LOL*) I always enjoy the catered food and drinks. It was all the alcohol, food and dessert you could eat. But, honestly I didn't even drink! *L* The ride home last night was a bit of a scare because we didnt get to driving over the mountain Asheville, NC until around 9pm. It was not only raining and it was dark...it was so foggy you couldnt see anything in front of you! It was a bit scary but we got home safe and sound!
Sooooo we are four sleeps away!!! Three days of work to go!!!
Time is flying by! We had a great weekend. We stayed with his parents this weekend who are going with us on the trip. While Eric and his Dad went to the races on Saturday his mom and I went shopping for last minute stuff for the trip!
I ended up finding another formal dress to wear!! It was kinda fate because I've been looking high and low. I found this really nice cocktail dress but it was 70 dollars at Jcpenny. I put it back because I couldn't see me spending that this close to the cruise. We happened to just walk around the store and I happened upon a clearanced dress and it was my size and only 20 bucks!!! :woot;
If I have time later I will take a pic to show it to you guys!
I also went to Target to buy New Moon on DVD and ended up getting The princess and the frog *LOL* I bought some more toiletrees. I also bought these cute shoes that I had been eyeing but they didn't have my size at the store at home. But, they had my size here
We then went to Bath and Body works where I got this lotion called Tahiti Sweetie I think. Its their spa collection. Anyway it has oils in it for suntanning skin. I used it last few trips and not only does it smell like the beach but its so awesome too! It really helps me from not peeling so much!
I then went to Old Navy and I picked out this really cute dress. I figured I could either wear it to dinner with those shoes I bought or I could wear it with my bathing suit to the islands.
[
here are the shoes from Target
So, after those purchases were made that brings us up to date
Today, I have been doing laundry since I came home from work. I pulled out all the dresses and all my shoes. I made a packing list.
So, it looks like we have almost everything. I also sent my coworker on a
vitamin trip for me. I buy my vitamins from whole foods and she was nice enough to run by there and pick them up for me
So, that rambling is now done and OHHH we printed off all our luggage tags and documents today too at work!!
Well, the plans are Eric's parents are set to arrive Thursday around 5pm. We will go get some grub and then do last minutes shopping. We will come back to pack the SUV up and then set to get ready to get up at 5am Friday morning where we will spend the Day driving down to Ft. Lauderdale.
so close now....more later....
Sounds like a good deal on the dress! Can't wait to see pics of you wearing all your new clothes
Have a great trip! Can't wait to hear all the details.....
