Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Luke and I have talked about how difficult we find it to get everything done at DHS. We had two trips this year and still didn't see Lights, Motors, Action (for Luke) or Beauty and the Beast (for Stefanie).

Funny thing is we did sit up front and I could not wait for the ride to be over. The kids wanted to go again and even Ken was like whoa... not so much.

So the whole touring DHS befuddles you as well? Hmmm..... why do they make it so hard to do everything?

I guess that's what it will have to be for us as well.... just to see the shows!

Great Jedi pictures! DD6 loves Darth Vader, but she has a strict "no meeting villians" rule (which she imposed when she was 4 to avoid the Snow Queen at DHS), so I guess that will have to wait.

We did a day and a half at DHS last spring and still didn't get everything done. , so let me know if you figure something out!

Can't wait to hear about your last day at MK!

Yes, it was nice to do so many things for the first time at DHS.

Well when your DD is ready the show is very fun and although DV is menancing it's not overly scary.

I'm so sorry you didn't like SciFi, I love their food and the atmosphere is so fun!

With DHS, I think the shows, and rides like the Great Movie and BackLot tour, take so long, that it is hard to see them all.

Well, we'll just have to plan for the shows next time we didn't see this time around and skip a few other things. We didn't even have time to meet the Power Rangers! We were waiting in line for the Jedi training.

Great DHS update. DHS is interesting in that you could finish everything in 1/2 a day but the shows. The show schedule is tough to see everything!

Well I'm finally caught up on your TR! Which I'm thoroughly enjoying!!

What a nice treat at CP for Alex! That’s the 2nd time I’ve read about people being exited through backstage recently. Sorry it ruined some of the magic.
I feel the same way about the ornaments on the AK tree!
What a rough start to your Epcot day! And then the next day waiting for a bus at MK! Unbelievable!
The character interaction is great at GG! We it!
Cute dress! And a cute IASW figurine too! We have one of the French girls with the Eiffel Tower.
Jedi Training looked like so much fun!! I’m sure one day my DS is going to want to do this (I know his Dad would like to now).
I’m so sorry you had a bad experience with Sci-Fi! L We go there every trip.

The Jedi training looks fun! The pictures you took are priceless! I wish my boys were little again, so they could try it out!!! We still haven't tried SciFi..it just hasn't jumped out at me for a place to try (and I'm not sure if its something my family would love). Maybe we can take a peak while we are at the park.
Great updates!!

Thanks for reading.

Yes, the backstage exit was fast but not so magical. Ken REALLY hated it.
My DH - Ken - wanted to fight DV too!

Friday, December 18th

Today was the last day of our vacation and like the previous two years, we spent the last day at MK.

The weather channel said the day was going to be a complete wash out so we were preparing ourselves for a sloppy, icky day. It had definitely rained hard the night before and like previous mornings it was very foggy outside. More humidity… ahhh… another hat day.

While we were lazily getting ready it rained hard for a few minutes then stopped. So, we decided to make a run for it and hope for the best.

The park was very, very quiet. I couldn’t believe how... well… dead it sort of was, especially compared to just a few days earlier with the MVMCP! It would be a day full of short waites and lots o' rides!

We decided to do the Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor as the wait time was 5 minutes (which was the theme of the day!) It was quite funny how certain people in the audience kept getting picked on. That was the first “first” of the day. Buzz Lightyear was next followed by a stop for Mickey bar lovin’ and Dumbo which we had managed to miss somewhow earlier in the trip.

Meeting the ever lovely Ariel was next.

PPF was a must do (a favorite of mine!) then we headed to Casey’s for lunch.

The kids decided to not sit through the parade again so we had a choice to make - follow the path toward Fantasyland or Adventureland. Ken made that choice and said we should finish up what we still wanted to do in FL. We headed that way and saw a group of people lined up. We asked who was coming and they said Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen. We had not seen the movie yet as it was released while we were in Disney. We hopped in line and waited anxiously. She has got to be one of the, if not the most beautiful princesses. Her dress is just jaw dropping gorgeous. They were both so kind and talkative with every child it took awhile to get through the line. I’ll tell ya, Prince Naveen can really strike a pose!

We ran into PP who had like 4 people in line so we took a few pictures as he is one of our favorites.

Abby said she really wanted to get on “that island” so we wandered over and watched the Princess and the Frog boat show

and headed on the raft toward Tom Sawyer’s Island. It was pretty neat. The caves freaked out Alex a little big but he loved exploring the island and the fort.

Abby decided to challenge me to a game of checkers while we waited for our raft back.

After that Abby and Alex wanted to tackle BTMRR – another first for this trip. Alex felt a little queasy so I sat out with him while Ken and Abby rode SM (it had been sprinkling on and off so what was a little more water when you have rain ponchos on?!)

POC was next followed by one last shot at Zurg. We had ditched our parents, or rather, they had ditched us, earlier in the day so it was a really fun afternoon just me, Ken and the kids doing whatever. A really great day!

By this time we had to make it to GF for 1900 PF. We wanted to buy one photopass picture at town Hall (or whatever it’s called) but the line was soooooo long. I kept telling Ken time was running out (you recall how I hate being late!) We finally made it to the counter and bought a picture and made a run for it just as the park was getting festive for the party. That was a downer. We hopped the boat to the GF and hoped our parents had checked in for dinner. It’s quite a haul from the dock to dinner! We saw our parents in the lobby and with high hopes asked if they had been proactive and checked in. Um… no. Argh. That was frustrating and once again, another frustrated CM snarkily told me we were late and they would squeeze us in. I know, my fault but geez!

continued in next post...
