A Maria and Ben “Mousefest” TR: The Greatest Gift of All Update Finished 5/3 - Page 11 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I would have been RIGHT behind you Molly! I am not a fan of bees or wasps....my skin is crawling just typing this ICK!! As for the combo Piza Hut/Taco Bell~here in DE we have a KFC/Taco Bell. I always wonder who came up with that crazy idea to put the 2 together....someone with the munchies maybe?

Great start, Maria. What a fun first day. All except for the WASPS! I was telling someone how I'm afraid of bugs and critters, so I probably would've run screaming from OKW and never looked back. Glad you were able to seal them in somewhat. I probably would've had nightmares that night, though. I think I may have nightmares tonight. And I have a combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell right near my home! Now I'll think of y'all every time I pass it.

So the KFC/Taco Bell is my absolute favorite Fast Food place. As far as i know we only have one in our state and I try to stop by every chance i get. I like it so much that it nearly inspired me to write a song, almost as good as the video molly posted. At 4-H Camp in the summer we have a fast food song that we sing that has all 3 of these tasty treasures in it(also LJS). Now if they would only bring back trans fat, it really would be a Christmas to remember!

We stayed up to right around 3 AM laughing like old friends. Molly and Joey told us so great stories. A Molly and Joey story is like well choreographed dance….and these stories will make you gasp aloud, laugh out loud and possibly pee your pants.
We like to tag team our stories from the past. It keeps everyone interested (especially us, "I've heard/told this story how many times?") I like to pretend I'm Derek Hough, Molly is a dark haired Julianne. What we lack in technical merit(actually doing anything in the parks or riding rides) we make up for in style(ummm....drinking, dressing, and driving people crazy) I predict a '10' from one of the judges, probably Paula (she's a drunk, and also not a judge on that show, but whatever)........I'm out!
i am loving hearing everyone's perspective on the trip...i can just see the 4 of you and the wasps whooping it up! hope it wasn't any of the special coffee ben loves so well that got left on the veranda!
sounds like great fun despite the arrival of the flying guests...
It was great fun!

Ben almost did…he is terrified of insects of all sorts.

Later, I figured out that if one of them had actually landed on me, I'm quite certain I would've just thrown myself over the 2nd floor balcony and prayed for the best.
When you tell the story again it just makes me cringe…yuck yuck yuck.

Close but no cigar…if the pizza hut does not also sell Mexi-melt then it doesn’t count.

Real friends don’t let stinging winged creatures get in the way of a good time.

The raining wasps felt like something out of Revelations....so creepy and disgusting.

The idea of getting a personal pan pizza and a taco make me want to puke….but the song is awesome.

It was disney coffee so I kind of feel sorry for the wasps for having to drink it.
Even though I went to sleep at 2:30 AM I was up and at em at 8:30 AM…and starving. While the others slept I picked up my camera and mug and headed over to find some food. I opted for the Goods to Go counter I had a wonderful experience ordering my croissant sandwich with bacon eggs and cheese…the lady who checked me out was very pleasant she was singing Christmas songs and just overall very jolly.
I went to grab my camera to take a couple of pictures on my way back to the villa…but my camera was completely dead and I forgot my charger back at our apartment...booooo.
I made it back to the villa and quietly snuck back into the room. I sat in bed and enjoyed my yummy breakfast sandwich.
At about 9:45 AM Molly started to move about and then by 10 AM we were all up and moving about…maybe not moving around fast but moving around none the less.
We packed everything up and then I told them about my wonderful breakfast sandwich/ magical experience at the Goods to Go they decided to go over and have a breakfast sandwiches unfortunately their experience wasn’t so magical and no sandwiches were had. I think the man in front of them in line started to freak out because they weren’t serving lunch yet.
So we were off to the Saratoga Springs so Molly and Joey could get checked in to their accommodations for the rest of the week.
In no time Molly was all checked in and they were off to get breakfast at the Artists Palette food court while Ben and I took a good look at the Saratoga Springs Christmas tree and garland. Molly had pointed out how they had little horse and saddles in the garland it was so neat…we made a note to come back to take pictures when my camera was working.
On our way to the car these ladies who were checking out offered us a whole flat of water and 6 pack of Gatorade that they needed to leave behind…woo hoo!
After Molly and Joey had their breakfast and a bucket of cotton candy we headed to their room where we relaxed and did three things:
(1)Watched Joey deck the halls of their Saratoga Springs studio/balcony.
(2) Watched Love Actually
(3) got dressed for tea
Getting ready for tea together was fun…and I have to admit…and not to toot our own horns but we looked great…even though Molly was sporting a summer hat.
Soon we were heading out to the Gran Flo for our tea passporter meet. The next update has pics courtesy of Mrs. Molly.
Tea Time Coming Up….
