Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 51 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

It is so great to read about your adventures with a toddler! I can relate, especiallly to the pool story. Sam wouldn't go near the water play area, we took him in the pool but he wasn't so sure about it either!

I'm hoping it will be warm enough in December to take advantage of SAB and see how he does with that.

I wish I could have back in June. We'll actually be at the world again from the 8th - 15th of December! Maybe we can meet instead?
Great updates! Glad you enjoyed your Sunrise Safari. And you had a great day at AK except for the heat. Love that Dylan got comfortable and had some fun in the pool! Sounds like it was a great day at DHS too. I can't imagine having no power at AKL! I probably would've been out on the balcony.

Thanks on the shirts - I thought they were pretty cute too.
Before heading out we stopped and grabbed a few PP pictures in the lobby at AKL. The guy taking the pictures sat us then looked at Becki ‘like who the heck are you?’. I think I said ‘she’s with us’ so she joined us in our ‘family’ portrait. You can see the heat had sucked the life out of us in these pictures:
We headed out to the MK at 5:30pm. Our first order of business was to get something to eat. We ate at CHH where Mike, Dylan, & I shared the fish & fries plus a Diet Coke and a Water ($20.26). While we were eating Mike went to get us FPs for Peter Pan or Buzz, but they were all out so we got Pooh instead. We wandered through Fantasyland and got a pic with Dylan with the Sword in the Stone (this is a place I want him to have his pic taken every year) and then went through the castle before heading to Tomorrowland.
Once in Tomorrowland we saw Laugh Floor and then did CoP. Dylan was too funny in this show. I think it’s the first scene where all the appliances start opening and closing doors and such. Well that happened and all Dylan could say (loud enough for everyone to hear) was “Uh oh!”.
Next we decided we better see Spectro and I decided we needed to go to Frontierland/Liberty Square to see it. I said why don’t we get Dylan some ice cream on the way – which I sent Mike to do. He came back with 2 cones – one for him and one for Dylan. Where Mike complained while walking that it was melting all over him and couldn’t keep up with it melting, so I said just give it to Dylan then. Can you see where this is going?! A few seconds after Dylan gets the ice cream cone we hear a scream and crying – well the ice cream was ALL OVER him – down his front, all over his legs, etc. We finally found a place to watch Spectro and I got out the wipes to clean Dylan off as much as possible while yelling at Mike about his choice of ice cream. See I was thinking he’s get one cone or one dish and they could share – oh no – why don’t I learn and just do it myself?! Anyway, we watched Spectro – we videotaped, so no pics. And then had to high tail it and fight the crowd to get to the PP Wishes meet. That was a stupid idea! We did get to the spot in time to catch Wishes, but had no time to say hello to anyone before hand.
So I chatted with everyone after Wishes instead. (no pics here either – sorry – check out Cam’s TR for pics) Then it was decided we should all ride Buzz together. OK, we haven’t ridden it yet. We were all let in with Amy’s (and someone else –Laurie maybe) GAC card and I think there was like 13 of us or something. We were all ahead of everyone else enjoying our ride when we get to the last scene where they flash your score at you and then nothing. Ride stops! For like 30 minutes! I can see the exit! Just let me out! That’s all I was thinking – it’s not fun to get stopped on a ride for that long with a tired 20 month. : After we were let go we decided to call it a night and head back to the room. Sorry everyone, but we had had enough that night. I did love getting to hang out with all of you even if it was short lived.
We made it back to AKL by 12:15am and hit the hay.
Memories from our sixth day:
The weather today was…sunny & hot & humid - again. I remember the evening not being quite as bad as previous evenings.
Today we walked…6.95 miles.
Today we spent…$53.14+ (lunch at Sci-Fi and dinner at CHH – I know Mike got stuff from SWW but don’t have receipts for those).
The best thing today was…seeing Spectro and having a PP meet.
The worst thing today was…having 2 rides shut down on us – RnRC & Buzz! For Mike it was the SWW actor not being there.
The funniest thing today was…Dylan saying “Uh oh!” on CoP.
Today we tried…the HSM show at DHS
and the result was…it was actually a pretty good little show!
The most magical moment today was…seeing the entire SpectroMagic parade!
Up next…’now it’s time to say goodbye’ (but still a little fun in the am at Epcot)
I am now caught up! Love the descriptions on the Sunrise Safari. Question...is this something that comes with staying concierge, or is it an extra that you can only do if you are concierge? (Or neither )
My 4 year old was sitting on my lap while I was reading this and he got sooo excited. He and Dylan have the same 2 Star Wars Disney guys. He got Darth Goofy last year from my mother and Mikey Won Kanobi (sp?) this year.
Not a big PEW fan...but maybe it's because the last time I rode it was race night...in the rain...cold and full of a pulled pork sanwich...pulled pork and PEW don't go good together.
Now I'm heading to catch up on your PTR for your next trip...(so jealous by the way )
