Three Adults & a Toddler – 6/7-13/09 - UPDATED 11/20 - Page 46 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

TREX looks cool but I was worried the food would be like rainforest cafe in that its just alright at best.....but it looks cool *LOL* Eric kept wanting to go in there but it was very crowded so we didnt. I really hate when you are upset and its just like things get worse like with the service there ya know?? too bad about all that....But i can't wait to hear what you thought of Sanaa. Have you eaten at Jiko before? just curious because I was wondering if they are similar at all....
Sorry about the disappointing service at T-Rex. The place looks really cool though. Can't wait to hear about your anniversary dinner.
It is a pretty neat place.

Hi Becki!! I've been wondering where you have been. I hope everything is going ok. Dylan has his moments, but overall he's pretty good.

I guess it is all about the atmosphere in a place like that. Sanaa was the opposite - although there's good atmosphere there too.

Like I said to Cam - it's all about your surroundings at a place like T-Rex. I mean the food isn't bad, but it's definitelty nothing to write home about.

You guys should have just peeked inand taken a look around. Wehaven't eaten at Jiko, so I can't compare the two. I'm sure someone else could though. I'd love to try Jiko - I'm thinking about trying it on our birthday trip in August with the Wanyama Safari.

Hi Kelly, my computer hasn't been working, and I can finally get onto PPer on my phone! I was also in Chicago with Skyler helping take careof my elderly grandma who's been in and out of the hospital with Pneumonia and my aunt who lives 2 floors above that grandma in the same condo building was seriously injured learnin to ride her new scooter and only riding 2mph. I was more than happy to help take care of them for a little while until one of my mom's other sisters came. My mom also was here for a second visit before we went to Chicago.
Congrats on your anniversary! Can't wait to hear about dinner at Sanaa!

Once we had freshened up, Mike & I headed out to our 6:50pm ADR at Sanaa over at Kidani Village. We decided to do a late celebration for our 3rd anniversary with this dinner. (Becki graciously agreed before we left on the trip to watch Dylan for the night while we had dinner on our own.) We had seen a PhotoPass photographer in the lobby several times earlier in the week and as we left our room we looked down into the lobby to see one there, so we decided to have out picture taken before we left for AKV.
After our mini photo shoot we headed outside. We decided we would walk over to Kidani Village. It was a nice walk over and they had some trivia along the way to keep you on the path and keep you entertained. I ended up taking a picture of every board we passed on the way (and the way back). Picture from the walk over:
I thought it was neat that the parking areas were divided by being named after a Lion King character and color coded.
We had to hurry a little towards the end because of all the stopping on the way over. Once inside we found our way down to Sanaa (via the elevator – later found out that we could have taken the main lobby stairs).
We received our buzzer after checking in and headed outside to view the savannah. And who did we run into out there? None other than Cam, Luke, & Princess Stefanie. We chatted a bit (I believe they had just finished their meal at Sanaa) and then took to taking in the view. WOW! I could sit out there for quite some time. All too soon our buzzer went off – right as the giraffes made an appearance. I stuck around long enough to grab a few photos of them.
We were seated and Arlette was our server. Mike ordered a draft of the Safari Amber beer and I got a Malawi Mango Margarita. After looking over the menu we decided to split something. We went with the bread service and chose the Naan, Roti, and Paratha with Mint and Onion Raita, Mango Chutney, and Coriander Chutney as accompaniments. We also shared the appetizer for two which included Potato and Pea Samosa, Pulled Duck with Red Curry Sauce, Roasted Cauliflower. We each also had another drink. Our total came to $53.33 after a 10% DVC discount and tax, but before tip.
I love how it seems like you're sitting under the trees.
I guess I was too hungry to take a picture of the app for 2 before we devoured it.
We went back out to look at the savannah again after dinner and then headed inside to look around the lobby and gift shop (Johari Treasures). The gift shop was a bit of a disappointment. It’s SO small, but I guess with our big the one is over at Jambo House they decided they didn’t need much. We picked up a Kidani Village (est. 2009) t-shirt for $26.58 and then made our way out to walk back to Jambo House.
Once back in the room, Dylan was fast asleep and Becki was watching Aladdin. She said he pretty much went to sleep right after we left – I guess he was exhausted.
Memories from our fourth day:
The weather today was…sunny & hot & humid - again.
Today we walked…3.97 miles. (I guess that walk to DTD may not have been as far. This also doesn’t include Mike & I’s walk to AKV and back.)
Today we spent…$225.23+ (T-rex lunch, shopping @ DTD, a water, dinner at Sanaa, and a t-shirt at AKV).
The best thing today was…dinner at Sanaa!
The worst thing today was…the journey to DTD!
The funniest thing today was…Becki trying to watch Aladdin. She said it kept freezing and thought the Disney channel would be one to work well since we were in Disney!
Today we tried…Sanaa
and the result was…it was a excellent food and atmosphere. We will definitely be back
The most magical moment today was…walking to AVK with my hubby.

What a wonderful way to end the day after the mid day fiasco!
Loved all the pictures of the savannah at Kidani. And Sanaa is going to have to be on the list of new places to try. Everyone is giving it great reviews.
Great pic of you and Mike in the lobby of Jamba House. Steph and I utilized that too. The pics came out pretty good.
I like that they try to make the walk between the two buildings interesting. But now I want to know the answers to the questions on the boards you posted! LOL Guess I will have to check it out in Nov.
What a wonderful way to celebrate your Anniversary! Thank heavens for people willing to watch our little ones!
