Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 52 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Great update, Melissa! Very cool that you could both see the humor in the flipping of your boat! I'm just so glad your photographer helped you with recovering your photos.

Yep, the first post to this thread was the day we came off the ship 11 months ago! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by. I should be sending you a PM sometime right about now(as, I remember, you requested) to tell you I would be starting our PTR for the new cruise, but, of course, that is not going to be, We will be doing something next year, though, and , in the meantime, I will have to live a few dreams through the experiences of my friends here at PP. Soo, I'm sad this is coming to an end.
But,.. I am sooo happy that your special day and the honeymoon were so perfect! I know you and Rob (and Liam, of course) will continue to have a wonderful life, and that will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Now, I can't wait for your wrap-up!
What a year, huh? Its so funny how time flies sometimes but then others it feels like things are taking forever!
Oh and thanks for the shoutout to Liam boy!

Your last day seemed magical but so did the whole trip...thinking back to the day you announced that Rob had popped the big question I cannot believe how fast time flew and that you are already planning your wrap up. I am so glad that you decided to share all this with us as it was beautiful and wonderful to see how everything came together to turn out wonderfully.
It is a bummer to lose the camera because it rocked my socks. I can't believe that I am already wrapping up my wedding report! So sad.

I want to do a beach theme in our new bathroom too. We spend a week in Ocean City NJ every year and I love that kind of decor.
Sorry it is over. I have really enjoyed tagging along for the whole ride. Looking forward to your last ramblings.
And...yes...we've got to get Crissy to come up and visit some time.
OMG you have to do the bathroom beach theme! It makes me happy everyday! lol! We have pictures and shells and I found some great stuff at JoAnns... a little decorative bouy and a little seagul perched on a post, and a whitewashed sign that says "Sail Away". Great stuff! And the oar frame was from Bed, Bath and Beyond and was only $12!! Anyways, thanks for listening to tall the rambles along the way. Im so sad this is over!

No more worrying if I will fit into not just that dress but THE dress!
No more planning our honeymoon and looking forward to passport stamps.
It came.
It went.
And I guess there isn't much more to say.
Oh yeah, except I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We will be celebrating our first anniversary in style-- Polynesian baby!
Yay! lol! Seriously though, Im having some serious post-wedding back-to-the-real-world blues. The lovey dovey high has been replaced with mundane tasks like taking night classes, grading papers, washing dishes, and making dinner (which I still haven't started yet tonight). The planner is getting dusty on the shelf and we have got our proofs, our prints, our albums, and looked at them all so many times I should be so "over" it by now.
Some passing wisdom for the day for the rest of the brides to be out there...
1. Its okay to make other people happy with your choices but remember the day is YOU and YOUR HUBBY'S and you should come first.
2. Treat people with respect at all times.
3. If you think you might regret not doing something then do it!
4. Enjoy every moment of the day- it flies by way too quickly!
5. Don't get stressed. It will be okay, it always is!
6. Your wedding should start and end with love.
7. Believe in fairytales, dreams come true, and happily ever afters--- THEY ARE REAL!
I hope you've enjoyed this fun little trip as much as me. Well, maybe not as much as me, I was the bride afterall... but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. It was the most magical and special day of my life and I am thrilled to have people interested in sharing it with me. Plus, it kept me out of going into Disney withdrawl. lol. jk.
In any case, I have a busy month ahead but knowing me the summer's PTR will end up debuting around Christmas! lol!
xoxox TTFN!!!

What a nice way to end this Report Melissa! I'm so looking forward to hearing about your plans to stay at the Polynesian next! That was how my DH and I spent our one year wedding anniversary back in 1982 when it was just the Contemporary and the Polynesian. It is a memory that I will always cherish.

Well, I finally had time to catch up!!!! Everything looked like so much fun and went so perfectly (except for the capsizing disaster LOL). I am in love with you two - you are sooooo cute and obviously made for each other. I can't wait til your Poly PTR debuts. I know it will be full of my favorite things; countdown calendar, new Old Navy outfits, and vacation box just to name a few. Don't keep us waiting too long. LOL. Also, I am also on board for Crissy to move up here somewhere. If that's not in the cards then a visit needs to be arranged. And Soon!!
I am so glad you shared all this with us. It was helpful for me in case my time ever rolls around and it will
I loved just reading about what the bride has to do and what one goes through. I've never been in the middle of all of it and it was really cool seeing it through your eyes I loved all the pictures...like you said they are the most precious because the moment ends all too quickly.
I am sad to see this end only because I'm used to hearing about every detail of your life I enjoy it because you and your hubby are all so very sweet and magical in your own way.
I am soooooooooooooo looking forward to your PTR! I am like amanda...i cant wait to hear about the purchases and planning and the vacay box and the countdown
Thanks again for sharing with us! You better text or email me so I dont go through withdrawals *LOL*
Melissa i just got caught up on everything. It was very nice love the pics. It was great following along with your dream come true. Glad it was the time of your life.
Great ending to a perfect story. Love all your advice - it is definitely sound and will be what keeps you and Rob happy though so many years. I am so happy to know one of your PTR's will be starting soon...there is no fun like going through your planning with you and what a great way to celebrate the 1st anniversary.
