Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 46 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, since I am finally back on track here and have my pictures uploaded I thought I would start with an update or two!
I am elated about the photos! I really felt genuinely lucky! I know most of you know this already but I teach 9th grade World History and since we are covering the world from the dawn of time through the Renaissance, religion is a key aspect of many civilizations that we cover. Anyways, I often feel like a "victim" of karma-- in a good way! I have to deal with such junk sometimes and I am rarely negative. When I get a string of good luck sometimes I cant help but feel like its just coming back to me from when I dished it out- karma style!
In any case, I uploaded all of the pics I want to use for the honeymoon so I am going to get into the honeymoon for now. Once I post this though, I am going to see if I can steal the image urls from facebook or our photogs website and do a picture only wedding update or two first! You guys might end up with triple updates tonight!!! (Quadruple if you count this!)
In any case, I will try and be nice and descriptive so that those of you who saw all the pics on facebook already are equally entertained! TTFN! Updates on the way!
Man, have I had the worst luck with fonts this TR! Silly, I know but i just wanted green/century gothic/bold for the wedding part of this and when I just went back through it is in comic sans, black, trebuchet! jeez! Im going back to my usually blue trebuchet for the honeymoon so this annoyance will hopefully be over.
And anyways, without further adieu--
WEDDING PICS PART 1: GETTING READY/BEFORE THE CEREMONY
So there you have it! Part one of the wedding pics. I would have shared more but since I am using the urls from facebook they are a little on the big side!!
Well, we did not leave for our honeymoon directly after the wedding. Instead, we saved mucho dinero by flying out on Sunday. I dont have my itinerary in front of me but I know we made it to Sandals by 1:00pm!
We were up bright and early toting Liam over to my parents and then getting driven to the airport by my dad (we flew Jet Blue out of JFK). Believe it or not it was a 2 hour and 15 minutes flight-- about 30 minutes shorter than flying to Orlando!!
The flight was uneventful and once we got into Nassau International airport it was easy checking in with customs and getting our first passport stamps!! We were quickly heading to the Sandals booth to get our shuttle. Our shuttle was through a company called Majestic tours (which was ironic to me since our photographer was from a company called Majestic studios). The driver was hilarious!! He pointed out some cool landmarks like Bob Marley's widows home and told funny stories.
We arrive at the resort to an adorable Caribbean woman who had wet warm towels for us to wipe our hands and faces with! Then she lead us and the two other couples with us into the main lobby. Man, is it beautiful in the Bahamas!
We sat with one of the couples who we drove in with-- they were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary and we saw them a few times on the trip. And their last name was Friend! so cute!
In any case, we got checked in and were told we had to wait for our rooms to be ready so we could go explore the resort and grab some lunch-- which is just what we did! Our lunch stop was at Spices Restaurant, which became our breakfast destination for most of the trip! And we made another little friend whom I shared my fritter with!
After lunch we headed to check out our room which was beautiful!! It even had a nice little deck that we never used! lol! It was very convienently located to a side door to the main building that lead you directly out onto the beach!
After we checked everything out we headed straight for the BEACH!!! On the way we checked out the resort!
Once we were done beaching it up and had gotten sufficiently hungry we headed back to the room to freshen up for dinner. Dunno why I dont have pics of us on the beach but who knows. We decided to have dinner at a restaurant called Kimonos which was Caribbean hibachi! And what a great choice it was!!
One of the Sandals photopass guys took some pics of us outside the restaurant!
Our chefs name was Theo and he was GREAT! He sang a lot while he worked and had a great voice! This was our favorite restaurant of the trip thanks to him! Rob even caught a piece of egg in his mouth that Theo flipped off the grill at him!
After what was a fabulous first day honeymooning we headed out towards the beach to watch the sunset. I was still over exhausted from the wedding and Rob was feeling travel day tired so we found a great little spot on a comfy outdoor couch.
The sun slowly went down and the little moon snuck out. Just as it started to get dark fire pits and tiki torches were lit around the resort. We sat and relaxed, not quite ready to end our first day in paradise and listened to the nights entertainment "One Man and His Sax". It was perfect!!!
Love the wedding pics. And what a beautiful first day in paradise. That resort is gorgeous. I can just picture the comfy couch and watching the sun go down. What an amazing way to end the day and begin the rest of your honeymoon. We went to a Sandals in Negril once and ate at a hibachi place as well. I caught a shrimp. Craig missed...I NEVER miss food!! Looking forward to more.

The bride hoodie is from Victorias Secret actually! And OMG I got the best deals on new Fall clothes there this week! They had free shipping if you bought a sweater, different amounts of money off depending on what you spent, and 30% off your highest price sale item and you could use all the codes!!! I ended up spending like $350 and for $650 worth of clothes, accesories, shoes... etc! It was so awesome!
Sandals was great! I remember thinking about how "right" you were about the water in the Bahamas! Ah! I wish I was back there now! lol!
