Mom lets go to WDW next week 8/1/09 - 8/6/09.. TR COMPLETE!! 9/9 - Page 4 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I was up and out of the room early to go to my conference. Mom stayed around the resort reading her book. I was out of the conference that day by 2:30PM. I had enough Dermatology talk for the day. Our plans were to check out Bay Lake, dinner at Kona Café then Magic Kingdom.
We took a bus to the Magic Kingdom. We had great bus service. We didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes on a bus the whole trip. It was raining by the time we got to the Magic Kingdom so we decided to take the Monorail over to the Contemporary. We were hoping to see Bay Lake but it was locked down tighter than a banjo string. We talked to the Vacation Club Specialist who said that you could only see Bay Lake between 2-4PM. By that time it was 4:30PM. So we didn’t get to see anything. We looked around the Contemporary a while and decided to see if we could get into the Kona Café early.
We refilled our mugs and headed back to the Monorail. It was very crowded on the Monorail. We had a great conversation with a Concierge Cast Member (off the clock) about the new dining reservation system. Evidently they don’t have as much pull with dining reservations like they use to. She was not happy about that at all. It was kind of neat to hear her point of view.
We all got off at the Poly. It was 5:00 and our dinner reservations were for 7:30PM. We checked in at the podium and they had room for us!! We waited about 5 minutes and were shown to our table. We both ordered Long Island Ice Teas. We were letting our “hair down”. We split the Kona Salad. I just love the dressing on that salad. The pineapple bread with macadamia butter was delicious. Mom got the Pan Asian Noodles with Shrimp. I got the Pan Asian Noodles with Chicken and Teriyaki sauce. It was a good meal. We love this restaurant and have never had a bad meal here.
We went down to check out more of the resort. I really, REALLY want to stay here one day. We bought some gifts downstairs in the gift shop. I bought a Mickey head necklace to go with the earrings I already had. I found a hat that I would like to get Dad for Christmas. I hope to pick that up in September.
We headed back to the Magic Kingdom via the VERY CROWDED Monorail. Mom got on and evidently was blocking the view between a mother and her infant in a stroller. I thought the mom was going to have a panic attack. “I can’t see my baby!!” Mom had to move out of the way (not an easy task). I couldn’t understand why she didn’t just stand up with her baby if it bothered her so much. She was being pretty dramatic if you ask me. I had no idea that many people could be packed into one car. I felt sorry for the people getting on at the Grand Floridian. There was no room left. I was never so glad to pull into that Magic Kingdom station.
We headed over to Adventure Land. We had never seen the Enchanted Tiki Room (under new management). Mom said “I don’t get it? How can it be under new management”. I didn’t know but I told her “I bet it may have to do with the show.” Of course it did. LOL It was a really cute show. I think my girls would love it. We then took a Cruise through the Jungle. We waited about 30 minutes (felt like 1 hours). Our director was Arturo. He was a hoot!!!! We had a great time.
We went to POTC next. I was trying to scare mom again about the “drop” in POTC. She said “I know there’s no drop. I have been on here too many times to believe there is a drop in here.” Well you guessed it……We go down the drop, she screams, then said “I didn’t remember it being that bad!” Oh my goodness how I love that women!! We were done by that time and decided to take the Train to the front of the park.
We went back to the Swan then walked over to the Dolphin to get some drinks. I can’t believe there is nowhere to get a coke at the Swan hotel. It was a very nice hotel but come on. Make it a little easier to get some drinks!!! We had to start packing. I was getting anxious to see Patrick and the girls so it wasn’t too hard to get ready to leave. Plus I knew I was coming back in a month!!! I love these back to back trips!!!
Up Next: Will mom beat me at TSMM??

I guess I got here late, but I'm glad I found your TR!
Your mom sounds awesome and I can't wait...oh wait! I don't get to meet her on the 20th!
Ok, well, how about you plan a trip with your mom for next year when I'm there with my mom? My mom is quite a bit older and she won't go on EE, but she loves Buzz and HM and PoC, SE, pretty much anything else besides the big rollercoasters...I might try to get her on Goofy's Barnstormer though....
So glad you can make it on the 20th!

Our farewell morning We got up early and finished packing. After checking our luggage with the Bellman we went to the Garden Grove restaurant for breakfast. I was looking forward to the Eggs Benedict. Well I found out they only have Eggs Benedict on the Buffet during the weekends!! The food was very good. After our bellies were full we took off for DHS. We were inside the gate within 15 minutes of getting to the boat dock. We had wonderful experiences with the transportation on this trip. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a boat or a bus.
We made our way to TSMM. Mom and I were quickly becoming huge fans of this ride. We again were riding within 15 minutes of entering the park. We pulled up to the first screen and she beats me. After the second screen she beats me again. Oh no!! So after the bonus round the final score was Mom 135,000 and Me 136,200. So I beat her again but only by 1000 points. We went into Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Then into One Man’s Dream. This one always chokes me up a bit . What a perfect way to end the vacation!!! THANK YOU MR. DISNEY!!
We had a pickup time of 11:30AM so we headed out of the park. We checked with Bell services to see where we needed to be in order to meet the Mears guy. He said we could have a seat in the Lobby and they would come get us. I got nervous about 11:34 so I went outside to check. The Mears guy was getting ready to leave!!! Luckily we stopped him and got in the van. He said he did come in and look for us but didn’t see us. That was a close one!!!
We made it to the airport and checked in at the skycap. We asked about an upgrade to business class and was able to get one!! We made it to the “other side” in time to get an appetizer at the Outback Steakhouse. We boarded our plane with no problems and enjoyed an nice “adult beverage” on the way home (thanks to the upgrade!).
We had a fabulous time!! However I was so happy to get home to DH and the girls. I missed those little rascals. I can’t wait to take them to Disney next week.
Somehow I missed the earlier installments of your TR. I enjoyed reading it start to finish. I wish my mom was younger (77 yrs. old today!), I would love to be able to go with her. She only went once, back in 1975. I am getting excited about trying out TSMM! Thanks for taking the time to write!
