Mom lets go to WDW next week 8/1/09 - 8/6/09.. TR COMPLETE!! 9/9 - Page 2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Your morning at MK sounds wonderful, especially with walk ons to most rides. Boma is my favorite restaurant, and like you I find Zebra Domes okay as I prefer the darkest possible chocolate.

Thanks again everyone!! Does anyone know how to change my title to show that I've updated my TR. This is my first one and I'm still trying to figure it out. Also we didn't take alot of pictures this trip. The few that I have are on my mom's camera so I don't have them uploaded to my computer. I will try to get some up soon.
Thanks so much for reading along!!!!
We were up and out of the room by 7:30am. It was EMH at DHS. We were through the gate by 7:55 and waited with the masses. We made the mad rush to TSMM. We went straight for the line and had only a 10 minute wait. My score was 129,000 Mom’s was 65,000. She loved it. After riding we got fast passes (with no line!). Our return time was 10:30AM which was perfect. We made our way over to Sunset Blvd. We rode a service elevator that was in need of some mechanical attention. We dropped 13 stories!!!! The drop sequence was the best I have ever had. Mom was hysterical. She was screaming so loud. You would have thought this was her first ride. I have the BEST time riding rides with her. She is so scared but will still get on them. We made our way over to RRC. During our wait we talked with some nice teenage girls. Mom proceeded to tell them how much she loved this ride. It was her “favorite rollercoaster”. She again screamed the whole ride and wouldn’t open her eyes. The first thing she said when she got off was “I forgot how bad it was!” My stomach hurt so badly from laughing at her. We stopped and got water from the starring roles café. The cast member checking me out gave me a free cookie!! How sweet was that??!!! Love those unexpected Disney Magical Moments. We made our way to the Animation thing (can’t remember what its called??) We went through the gift shop instead of listening to Mushu do his thing. We found Sorcerer Mickey without any line at all!!! So after telling him I’m bringing the girls to meet him in September we got in line for the first Animation Class. We drew Sorcerer Mickey.
Our fast passes for TSMM were ripe so we took another spin. This time the score was Mom 133,000 me 133200!! I still beat her but only by 200. She was getting the hang of it now (I may be in trouble). We had an 1130 ADR for 50’s Prime time café. We checked in with our “Aunt” and waited in the Living room. We loved the décor. Mom got a big kick out of watching the old clips, especially the “I Married Joan” Clips. We got some Onion Rings for an Appetizer. I had the Pot Roast (which I highly recommend) and she had the Stacker Sandwich. I got a shake to go. My conference time was fast approaching. We made our way out of DHS and back to the Swan.
On our trip back we started talking about our September trip. I mentioned that we could add her to our room (with free dining) since the girls were under 3. We could also upgrade her ticket to an annual pass. We already had another trip planned for February anyway. After a little Disney Math she said well why not!!! She called Dad while I was on the phone with the Disney reservation people. In no time at all: Dad said he didn’t care of she came back, Disney added her to the room and we bought her a plane ticket. Woo Hoo!! We have ourselves a real party now!! Dad may not let her hang out with me anymore! LOL
Well the time had come to checked into my conference. We had class from 2Pm to 5PM. For dinner we ate at the Garden Grove Restaurant in the Swan with Rafiki and Timone. It was Seafood Buffett night and it was delicious! They had risotto made to order. Yummy!!! It got 2 thumbs ups from both of us. We then made our way out to the buses. I wanted to head over to Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately it was raining and we didn’t have very good ponchos. It took me 15 minutes to talk mom into getting on a bus. She didn’t want to go out in the rain. I finally talked her into getting on the bus by telling her we would just go in long enough to upgrade her ticket to an AP I wanted mom to ride EE. We stopped by Guest Services and upgraded her ticket to an annual pass. By that time the rain had stopped. We made a beeline for ITTBAB. We love all of the 3D movies at Disney. We made our way over to Asia and got in line for EE. She was so scared (aren’t I mean!!). We waited about 40 minutes to ride. Again I laughed so hard at her. Of course she loved it. Hopefully next time she will open her eyes. We were done by then so we made our way back to the Swan.
Up Next: Time to actually learn something. Dinner at Cape May??? Or not!
It sounds like your mom is the perfect park buddy. I was grinning from ear to ear just reading about it. I would have laughed, too. Sounds like you had a great day!
