As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears

Moving on with the current of the years.

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

Can I just say Wow, yet again!! I feel like each of your updates from Tokyo just get better and better.
I love the theming of the American Waterfront. The elevated train, buildings, man hole covers...all the NYC touches are Amazing!! Between that and Cape Cod, it doesn't look like you are in Tokyo at all, but back here in the states. And if it is NYC, I imagine the Sandy Hook they are talking about is across the water here in NJ and if so...I've laid on that beach a number of times and I guess just off the shore lies the wreckage of that ship. Pretty neat!!
Love the Paul Revere seasickness remedy. One if by land, two if by sea...very funny!! And my son was Paul Revere this year in school for his second grade history project. I showed him the sign and he loved it.
Tower of Terror is just beautiful there!! And I'd be trying all of the popcorns, at least once.
And I love the Mickey meets the Gorton's Fisherman statue...which reminds me, I should be fixing dinner for my boys instead of posting, but, I just can't get over how amazing Tokyo Disney and Disney Sea are.
You said 2013, huh?? Well, maybe I start trying to convince DH now.
I've had quite a bit of catching up to do, but it's been fun! Great pictures of the nighttime parade - I loved seeing all the Pixar characters getting some recognition in there. The hotel is beautiful, as is DisneySea. I've loved the look of it ever since I saw the special on the Travel Channel. The popcorn flavors here sound more appetizing than those at DisneyLand. Can't wait to see what else is in store for this day ...

DisneySea looks amazing, the theming alone looks to be worth the trip. Love seeing all the popcorn flavors, can't wait to hear what your favorite was. Toyko Disney definitely looks to be the place to visit - 2013 sounds doable
Thursday 9 April – part three: I guess Indy hasn’t explored Japan recently!
We walked back over to the Disney Sea Electric Railway to take the others on that and, this time, we got the other side, which has much better views.
Leaving American Waterfront... ... views of Mediterranean Harbour and Ponte Vecchio, modelled on the bridge of the same name in Florence Fortress Exploration The volcano in Myserious Island, which erupts from time to time! Coming into Port Discovery
Once off, we got some photographs of each other:
Then it was time to go on Aquatopia, with the boys going on twice, once with Donna and once with Frank. We took the left hand side for a different experience and it was much more fun, much less spinning and a lot more going backwards, although what you get is pot luck here.
We stopped for a snack break, with me getting a tiramisu ice cream bar. I can’t see them ever doing something like this in the States, as I’m not sure there would be a market for something this exotic, but boy it was good. Mark got an orange Mickey bar and we all sat there, eating our own treasures. They certainly had some unusual choices here:

Then it was off to Lost River Delta. On the way there, we found this familiar face.
Every new land we entered just saw our jaws drop open a little more. Each one seemed to be grander and more beautifully themed than the previous one. This reminded me of the Jurassic Park area of Universal Studios.

Mark found some more hats – again, none that you’ll be seeing in December... those remain a closely guarded secret!
It wasn’t long before we found their version of Indiana Jones and this was one I knew I was going on and Frank was just as keen, so off we went. This was a bit more intense than the Disneyland version and so I came back and advised Mark not to ride it. It seemed faster and more jerky. While we were gone, Mark wandered and took lots of photos of the theming of this area and even came face to face with Indiana Jones. He told me that he’d asked something in English and Mark was the only one to respond – I guess maybe Indy is a bit rusty on the old Japanese?! I guess maybe he hasn’t explored Japan recently!
We carried on walking, getting some food, with Mark getting a smoked chicken leg and a mango mousse with souvenir cup featuring Stitch, for me, which was lovely. I don’t think Mark was 100% about the chicken though…
Excitingly, I just remembered that I have a 10 year savings plan which matures and pays out in 2013, so even if DH isn't interested and I have to come alone I will definitely be up for a meet!!!
