Take Me Out to the Mouse House **Updated 4/24** COMPLETE - Page 25 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Love the shopping carts photo! That's totally the kind of weird things I take photos of too (I took a photo of my feet in the sand at the beach once...)
What a strange stream of events at AK that morning, very odd. Your lunch and afternoon break sounded very nice though!!

OK, I looked but I couldn't find it on my trip. Where, oh where, can I find an Italian Margarita on my next visit? I need to find out if it can rival the Grey Goose! It's France vs. Italy, man!
Love the pictures and look forward to seeing more!
Great update! to hear your blister was affecting your touring. Hope the tumble monkeys were just taking a break and not removed from the FOTLK. That would be a tragedy! We them!
I think I may have more information on those shopping carts, that may make you love them even more! They have a mechanism in them, that makes the wheels lock. We discovered this in our new Super Target, when we came too close the entrance that emptied into the mall. Our wheels locked up and we couldn't move the cart at all until an employee explained what happened. He also told us that the carts are made to lock not only to prevent theft, but in the parking lot to prevent them from 'running away' Around the perimeter of the parking lot are strips (you can see a shopping cart painted on the strip- kind of like a no smoking symbol). The wheels lock up there too, so the carts don't go running throughout the entire mall's parking lot. Pretty interesting useless information, huh?
Sounds like you had a fun time at DTD. Well, except for the ice turds! Looking forward to more
Is trying to out nerd you a challenge? Because I think you have some tough competition with me and Zack, and if we can't do it there's always the door salesman in his Hannah Montana gear! I love how you have all of your trips stacked up, Sha! Especially because there's guaranteed trip report reading pleasure for me to get me through the next 50 days until my next trip. Can't wait to read more!

wow they are really are ice turds
I am cracking up at the shopping cart pic, those are some funky looking carts, our targets DO NOT look that space age ...
so KS was down because an animal was in the way weeeiiirrddd lol
Well, at least you have proof of the ice turds and I do agree with you. Now I am going to be on the lookout for ice turds on my trip next month! Sounds like a good morning at AK except for your blister problem but I am glad that you thought to go to Target and get some flip flops there.
The food at Wolfgang's looks great. It is beginning to be a must do for us. Love that creme brulee!
Sorry that your blister was still bothering you, but glad the cozy socks helped it heal a bit and that you found some flip flops for the rest of the trip. AK seemed to be having some problems that morning, hopefully you will be able to catch the safari at another time this trip. I love the FOTLK, that is my favorite show...it just is so exciting and moving and the colors...this is definitely one of those shows I can watch over and over.
Your lunch over at WPE looked delicious, DD loves this place, she has fallen in love with the Mediterrian Vegetable Sandwich so I trip there in August is definitely on the list. Love the pictures of the Lego City scenes...can't wait to hear more of your evening at MK.
So glad that you cushy socks protected your blister but sore feet can be tough to take. So glad you found some shoes that wouldn't clash with your outfit.
So that's ice turds...I think I've seen those before.
What a great bunch of photos this update, Sha! All of them are just so bright and sunny and clear . . . . Sigh. 2 more years. Maybe I can convince Danny to let me go next year. . . . . Anyone want to join me??? Can't wait to hear about your evening in the MK.
Okay, that pizza made my PB&J that I was eating while reading your tr taste like dirt. As my girls like to say "No fair!"
And although shopping carts normally do not do anything for me, I was very intrigued by the new Target ones and can only hope that my local one gets a shipment of those soon!

I've been trying to take unusual pictures (like your feet-in-the-sand pic) lately. I think they're visually interesting and it makes me feel like a photographer and junk.

Thanks for the updates, keep 'em coming!
I'm happy to say my foot is completely healed and ready to be put to the test!

The Italian margaritas are available at the little kiosk that sells pastries and stuff. It's the one next to the little donkey pulling the cart of flowers, kind of between Italy and Germany.

Dyan, are you trying to out-nerd me? Seriously, that's interesting info about the carts. I hope we get smart carts in my Target!

So if (when) I am declared the nerdiest, does that make me the winner or the loser? 50 days?!?! How can that be? But I'm glad!

I think they're made without any metal in them because of all the lightning in Orlando (I recently heard that Orlando is the lightning ground-strike capital of the U.S.) Either that or the metal gets too hot in the blazing sun. But maybe every cart is made that way now. And KS being down was proof that I was in bizarro world that day.

Doesn't that pizza look yummy? It made me go out and get one for lunch (which was almost as good, so sorry you had to suffer with PB&J) and now suddenly I want PB&J
