Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 26 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Aw thanks girl! You make me laugh! Guess what? I got a phone call from the store manager of David's Bridal in Danbury yesterday about my "recent visit" so I am thinking that the email I sent to costumer service trickled down to the store. And I am quite happy about it. I don't think I will return the call as I was still mad when I emailed and I am over it now but its nice to know that someone read it.

Just got all caught up with your plans and boy have you accomplished a lot Melissa! First off, congrats on your weight loss. It must feel wonderful to lose a whole dress size! I loved the favors and name holders. You can tell that you've put so much thought into all the details for your wedding! Lastly, you're going to love The Little Mermaid Broadway show! I saw it when it was in previews and it was my favorite Disney Broadway performance! There is so much going on during the performance that you don't know where to look first! Make sure you let us know how you liked it!

Thanks!!! I never get tired of saying thanks to ppl who congratulate the wieght loss!! Hopefully it will motivate me to get back on track this week-- allergies and all!!! bleh!
And you gave me another update idea-- I will def post up here when we get back from the Little Mermaid!!
Hope you are still reading along here even though it has been over a month since my last update. It has really been the calm before the storm or even just the calm...
I have been busy wrapping things up at school with starting review and dealing with the same drama that comes every May with teacher scheduling.
As far as wedding planning is going I have gotten some stuff done! Budgetwise we have officially paid off not just the Church and the Honeymoon BUT we purchased gifts for the Girls in the wedding (as well as the flower girl/ring bearer gifts we'd gotten right before the last update). And we made our final pre-wedding photographer payment. Oh and we should have our wedding bands paid off in full by the end of this month! So out of the grand total savings we needed to come up with for our wedding at $9834.... we have saved all but about $1600! Woot woot!!! Home stretch baby!!!
Well, here is a nice look at the nook of our closet that is now housing the wedding stuff:
Annoyingly we had to update all of our registries. I thought that registering early was going to make life easier but I don't reccomend it. About three people actually used them for our engagement party and we have had to change it around so many times its irritating and not so much fun at this point! lol!
As far as Bridal Party gifts, I know I showed you guys the Ringer Bearer Plutos and the Precious Moments in Disney statues for the kids but we also picked out gifts for the guys-- these engraved cufflinks:
There is a local lady who can get us some stuff at wholesale and so we are going to order these next time I get paid. We already ordered these keychains for the girls:
Only I am not giving them to the girls as is. First of all, I did not get them engraved because I hate how silver plate gets all tarnishy after a while. Instead I am going to take the charms off the necklaces I had gotten them and attach it to the key rings. The necklaces were on short chains anyways and it makes the keychains more unique and personal. The charm for my sister (Maid of Honor) is a circle that says "Believe in Miracles", the one for Rob's sister (Bridesmaid) is an oval that says "Love" on the front and "like you've never been hurt" on the back. And my cousin's (Bridesmaid) charm is a rectangle that says "Dream Big". They are all really cute and will make for a special gift!
We also got ourselves something special from Littmans--
OUR WEDDING BANDS! The pictures didn't come out great but that was the best one!
I also picked up some cute summer/honeymoon clothes. A few are from my sister and a little on the small side but for the most part you should be seeing me wearing most of them in pictures soon! lol!
Skirts...
Gap Bathing Suit coverup...
Sun dresses...
Tanks...
Shorts...
A maxi dress... (the only thing I may not end up wearing)-- isnt it funny how Liam is in this pic? lol...
I ordered this from Victorias Secret but havent gotten it yet... its backorderd until next week sometime! I loooooove it though...
This Bathing Suit is also from VS but I didnt get these bottoms, I got the regular mid scoop bottoms. Depending on whether I lose more wieght I may or may not order another suit--- I just had to pick one up during their Semi Annual sale! The dress, bathing suit, 2 built in bra camis, a cute black shirt, and some shower gel all cost me only around $150! Good deal!
Oh yeah, and you know how I have been obsessed with Twilight? Well, when I went into Borders to get The Host (which was equally amazing to Twilight and Stephenie Meyer needs to right some sequels for) I found this AWESOME passport covers:
Mine is on the left and Robs the right. There are a couple pink and purple skulls on Robs so he thinks its kinda toolish. We may get him another one in the future but it was the only guyish one there and they are vinyl and protective and just sooo cool!
In any case, thats all for now! There will surely be more updates soon! I will post pics after Rob and I go see The Little Mermaid on Broadway this weekend. Plus when I told my mom that I had to update our registries she told me to do it quick and not to look at them anymore afterwards. So I take it that means the shower is close to being upon us!
And I will officially be Mrs. Page exactly TWO MONTHS FROM SUNDAY! Talk about the countdown dwindling!!!
WOW!!! You've gotten alot done! I love the key rings - Chris and I were just discussing what to do for the bridesmaids/groomsman gifts... no ideas yet. I am sure it will come to us at some point!!
