Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 24 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Just getting caught up again....What a great day in NY!! I went w/ a bunch of girlfriends in Dec. We had a blast! If we get to go back, we will have to try Alice's Tea Cup! Loved the bag you got at WOD, also loved all the great stuff you got for your b-day from Old Navy!!! And the Disney crocs! The cupcakes your Mom did looked awesome (aren't Moms great!!!!!!) Looking forward to hearing more!!
Mel just got caught up on everything. The dresses are beautiful. Love all of the deals that you have been getting. Table Numbers are awesome. I really love the mickey cupcakes. That is probabaly because my B-day & Mickey's is the same day so I was destined to be a disney fan from birth. Did you read Twilight yet it is one of the best books I have read in a while. I now have the first book downloaded on my ipod & listen to it while I was on the treadmill. Getting ready to download the second. I also read the books in about a 2 week span they were so good I didn't want to put them down. Just about 4 months until you have your Happily Ever After.
Loved seeing your NYC pics Melissa! The Alice Tea Shoppe looks adorable and the Zoo pics were beautiful I loved the box that the assorted tea came in! Sounds like things are all coming together for you.

So glad you loved everything! I have more pics to share from the Bronx Zoo but I have to put a full update together since I have more things crossed off the list and more summer shopping stuff! lol!
So in honor of the fact that Rob and I will be MARRIED in one hour and 4 months from today exactly, I thought I would update everyone!
So, we've gotten a lot done the last few weeks. Most recent is booking a block of rooms for out of town guests at a local hotel, picking out the cake design and flavors, and chosing some bridal party gifts. The only exciting part is the cake- we chose white cake with chocolate and strawberry mousse. It will be 4 tiered with smooth white buttercream icing. The bakery will prepare all of that and then my mom is going to make gum paste hydrangeas for the top (since our topper is too heave), each layer will have a green ribbon around the bottom and the 2nd tier will have a monogram of our initials. Hopefully you can imagine that from my descriptiong!
OMG and I almost forgot! We booked our dolphin excursion! We decided on Dolphin Cay at Atlantis on Paradise Island! It was a little nice and a longer program for the same price as the one Sandals recommends! I can't wait! We also paid our honeymoon remainder off in FULL! sweet!!!!
Now to backtrack a bit- happilly niethe of the tanks tops fit (too big) and same with the jeans my mom ordered. Old Navy is dumb about their returns, though, and so my mom had to get the money credited back to her card and then gave me money to buy other clothes. I got an awesome dress by Converse, an adorable plaid bag, belt and a shirt at Kohls. Here are a couple of pictures. Sorry the one of the dress is dark, I used my cell phone cause my camera battery is dead!
So, I think Im gonna use the rest of the money to re-order the jeans, and get a couple shirts from Old Navy. I figure I can get some more honeymoon specific stuff at Woodbury with Amanda and the girls in a couple months when its closer anyhow! lol!
Now, I dont know if you guys remember me and Rob planning a Bronx Zoo trip for my birthday? Well, we went last weekend. It was a little cold but worth it since it was so empty at the zoo! We spent a good 4 hours there, had lunch in the middle and Rob got me a keychain and this adorable stuffed monkey (as you are going to see when I post pics, the baby monkey was my favorite)! I just love zoos and I loved going back to the Bronx Zoo since I haven't been since I was a kid. I still think the Philly Zoo is my very favorite but it was def an awesome trip and I was so glad we went! Great and fun way for us to spend the day together! In any case, instead of giving you commentary, since animals are animals heres some of my fav pics from the day (we had a couple hundred by the time we got home)!
A couple notes on the pics... thats the new bag I got... the giraffe is actually licking the wall and pooping. It was mental and I thought it was hilarious... The entire time we were walking near the hyenas I quoted the Lion King ("Mufasa!" "Ooooh say it again!")... The Monkey and Madagascar exhibits were AWESOME but I was little bummed about the penguins and the fact their were no elephants... and there are some more/different pics on Facebook if you are on there that you can check out!
Other than that, I dont really have a lot going on. Rob and I have our last Pre-Cana this Saturday so we will be meeting with the priest sometime next week. We also will be wedding band shopping and I will be trying on my dress to figure out if I need to exchange for a smaller size. Thats pretty much the goal for the next week. After that is my Spring Break and me, my mom, and my sister will be making all the favors, and printing invitiations and programs!
Hope all is well with everyone! FOUR MONTHS TO GO!!!!
WOOT WOOT!!!!
love the pics of the zoo
so happy for you - everything is going to be great
don't you love kohls?
I agree old navy does have some dumb return policies
can't wait for more
Everything is coming together!! And remember in the beginning when you were stressed about $$ and all that? Now it's just a distant memory!!!! Sounds like a great trip to the zoo. What a nice day you had. . . . . And I can't wait for Honeymoon shopping at Woodbury!! Seems like we always have a purpose - last year it was dress shopping for my million weddings.
Mel!! I forgot to mention (thanks Cheryl)! The dolphins!! I'm so excited for you! You are gonna LOVE 'em, and I can't wait to hear about your experiences with them!!
What a great update!
Paid in full, dolphin adventure! New clothes! YAY for some being too big!!! You are looking GREAT!
I haven't been to the Bronx Zoo in AGES! I would love to go in April when we are in NYC for a few days.
Great update! A dolphin adventure...how awesome!! I would LOVE to swim with dolphins. I can't wait to hear how that went. Love the pics of the zoo. My 7yr old will be going there in a couple of weeks with his holiday camp. I can show him the pics now.
