Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 20 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

love love those placecards
the flowers are gorgeous also
as for advice - we have been married almost 10 years and I agree with kenny about the arguments not being worth it
and communication, trust and honesty are also big factors
(then again he works third shift and I only see hime once a week - I think that helps too - lol)
good luck with everything
I the table cards!! And hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers. I love the green and yellow of the lemons. Very very nice choice.
Advice, hmmm....LAUGH...my DH can always make me laugh and it truly seems to be the best medicine. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary in November and I still get butterflies when he walks in a room.
And for you...at the reception...step back...I mean literally. Take a moment and step off to the side and just watch for a moment. All of those people having a blast are there for YOU. They love you and it is amazing to share with them.
Awww... your advice was sooo sweet! Im so glad I asked this question! Totally awesome!

As for advice (I've been married almost 26 years to my high school sweetheart!!) Communication is #1, along with respect & trust!
Can't wait to hear more about your plans!
Great advice! I always try to be open and talk about things! lol!
But then again I just love to talk in general!

Rob used to work 2nd shift so I know how you feel. Now that he is here ALL the time I try my best to appreciate every silly voice, noise, or song that he makes that used to annoy me!

Okay love those table cards girl. You are so crafty.....
As for advice, I don't have any really. I can only say Matt makes me laugh, even when I want to strangle him. LOL
I do still get goose bumps because after 15 years he can still make me feel like we are the only 2 people in the room, I still get butterflies, and I hope that you guys can be just as happy as we are.
Melissa - I cannot seriously tell you how AMAZING I think those table numbers are!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!!!!!! Where did you even come up with that idea? They are fantastic. I can't wait to hear who else made the cut! You have to keep us posted!
I was talking to Craig the other day about doing something where each number on the table we would have a picture of us at that age (so table two would have a picture of us when we were 2) but your idea is much much better! So cute! Ok, I'll stop being annoying, but your creativity is fantastic, I wish I had some of that!
I also think your centerpieces are great! Hydrangeas are some of my favorite flowers (my grandmother always had them growing in her yard), awesome arrangement!
As far as advice goes, I'm in the same boat as you! What I can say, is for the wedding don't let the little things bother you. I worked at a reception hall for 3 years and saw so many brides be miserable on "their day" because the napkin color was a bit too bright or the cake was smaller than they thought it would be. Stupid things that really meant nothing would put people in the worst mood. But I already know you well enough to know that those things won't bother you! So, I guess I wasn't too helpful

I just thought I'd let you know that I think that idea of the 2 of you at different ages is so cute. that idea!! And it is very creative.

Aw! That was so sweet! I guess the best advice afterall is to marry the right person! Which I am certainly doing!

Okay so the Great Couples in History idea was just the product of being a history teacher and all. lol! but I love your idea too! if I didnt bombard my family with pics of me and Rob at all times I would sooo want to do something with pics of us! your idea is awesome and adorable!
Thanks for the reception advice... im pretty laid back as it is. I just want to celebrate loving Rob with everyone we love!
Okay so I thought I would share with you guys another trip to New York City.... this time I took a personal day and hopped a train down to meet up with a friend! I call this my trip to "Wonderland" as you will soon see!
We met at Grand Central Station. Let me tell you, this was my first train ride alone AND my first time in NYC by myself. It was so empowering to see a huge and amazing place like Grand Central Station alone. It was like I was seeing it again for the first time! Crazy!
Anyways Emily (my bestest friend from Elementary school) and I met up by the information booth since she lives in Brooklyn. Then we hopped on the Subway and headed up towards 72nd Street.
We headed for breakfast at Alice's Teacup. A quaint and adorable little cafe/teahouse with an awesome Alice in Wonderland theme! It was so adorable and amazing! The food was great (I had egge benedict that came on a fresh scone instead of an english muffin with rosemary hollandaise sauce) and so was the tea (we each ordered a small pot-- me of Alice's Tea of course, and Em of Chai)!
Then we headed towards the 72nd street entrance (Em pointed out the Dakota-- where John Lennon was shot, here) to Central Park! We headed straight across to see none other than Alice in Wonderland!
After we were done we headed into the Central Park Zoo which was adorable and def worth the $10 admission ($10.50 if you count the two quarter I spent on feed). We took a few pics along the way...
This one is the Fountain from Enchanted! Well its in lots of movies but I always remember "The Thats How You Know" musical number here! If you look off to the right in this pic is Loeb Boathouse (they eat here in 27 Dresses)!
I told Emily she was like Central Park Snow White in this pic! lol!
I got some really cute pics at the zoo! Heres a few:
If you recall this is the penguin habitat that Mumble from Happy Feet goes in at part of the movie!
After that we left through the 5th avenue entrace and stopped into World of Disney where I got a DISNEY WONDERLAND TEA ASSORTMENT!!! It was super cool! And the Mad Hatter Blend is sooooooooo good that I seriously want to call WDW Mail Order and get some! lol! I wish I had bought more! Ahhh buyers remorse is the worst!
Anyways, after that we headed into SoHo where I got my niece silk Chinese PJs like ones my sister and I had when we were little. Then Emily pointed out the building where Heath Ledger died.
Then we visited CARRIE BRADSHAWS STOOP! Yay!
After all was said and done we had some Mexican food! Soooo good! I had some Enchiladas with this incredible chocolate almond mole on it! Then we shared this Banana Enchilada dessert... a cinnamon tortilla wrapped around a banana, fried up and drizzled with chocolate! Mmm Mmm Mmm!
It was such a great time! Hope you enjoyed! And if anyone has an upcoming Disney trip let me know because I will so pay shipping if you buy me some of the Wonderland Tea!!! Im trying to get Rob to take me to see the Wizard of Oz at MSG for my birthday so if that works out we might head to World of Disney... but who knows?!
On a wedding note! I FOUND earrings for the girls in the World of Disney! YAY! They are just like the Avon ones but smaller and silver instead of gold. I got Lenore the rhinestone ones and the bridesmaids green ones! They were on sale and they were technically birthstones so I am just gonna snip the month off the bottom when I wrap them!
Oh and heres a pic of my tea assortment...
Oh and I got roped into the $10 bag with any $50 purchase (Disney always sucks me into those)! Heres a pic of it:

First off I love the table number cards. They are so perfect and I love the theming, they are beautiful.
As for advice, I have to follow suit with Kenny, always appreciate each day for the great importance that it is, you don't know if you will have another one and for that reason never hide what you are feeling, say what is on your mind, and never let the day go without saying how much you love each other, even if it is just a silent look between you.
Next off...what a great day in the city. You hit so many great places and it sounds like it was just so much fun, looks like you had good weather too. Mel, if you want the tea let me know, I work like 8 blocks from there so I can always run over and grab you some.
