Our Magical New York Wedding-- a Pixie Dusted Wedding and Honeymoon Report! - Page 18 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

And please tell me you are planning on having a couples massage under that thatched roof thing at the beach. The picture made it look Fabulous!! You are going to have an awesome time!
we were already fans of all inclusive from wdw so I knew sandals would be a great fit! i love the colors too... it reminds me of the way i love the colors at CBR but different since they are more bright not that meditteranean look like sandals. i hear good things about the sandals in jamaica but only know two people personally whove been and both were robbed! one had her room robbed and the other was pickpocketed. that turned rob off before we even started. i just think this is a good fit for us! all the things we will be able to do and the massages and dolphin swim! sooo much to look forward too!

You should really check it out! Totally awesome store! Also, the postcard that I got in the mail last summer said that the World of Disney would be closing its doors but that Manhatten would not be without Disney magic-- not sure if that means relocation? references to Broadway? or something else? Crissy once said she read somewhere that they are going to have some Disney HQ there or something. Either way see the World of Disney sometime this year!

Weird, huh?
LOL! thats so bizarre! but glad it made you think of me!
Okay so I don't know whats up with no green for my font tonight! But anyways... without further adieu here is my mini TR on Mary Poppins on Broadway!
1. I heart Bert
2. I love Broadway
3. Disney does everything right
So where to begin, me and my fiance and my brother bought my sister the ticket to see Mary Poppins for her birthday. Then my mom got my grandma a ticket for Christmas and me and my mom bought our own seats. Thanks to an orchestra seat buy 1, get 1 free deal last Fall from Disney Visa we were able to get AMAZING seats!
We drove down to my grandma's, picked her up and hopped on a train. My grandma was super happy to be in Manhatten and said that she hadn't been there in about 50 years! There was an icy breeze but we only had about 5 long blocks to walk from Grand Central to the New Amsterdam theatre. We stopped and ate at TGI Fridays on our way!
We got to the play just before the doors opened. There was a bit of chaos at first but once we got into the theatre we were in. It was awesome. The castmembers had class Disney nametags with a Mary Poppins icon. It was super easy to find our seats. We got a few souvenirs before the show started (my sister got my niece a mini verson of Mary's bag and an umbrella like hers, I got myself a tee and I got my mom and grandma magnets).
The show was amazing. I can't even put it into words. One of the best shows I have seen! I want to note that this is based on the original screenplay and the books so the story was a bit different. The songs were awesome-- Im def going to pick up the soundtrack at some point soon-- and the actors were phenomenal!
After the show we walked back to the train station, grabbed some cocoa and coffee and then hopped a train back home!
Here are some pics from our adventure (I am sure you can tell who's who ! ) I am hoping that the 4 of us can make this a yearly thing or maybe even more than that! I had a blast!
3 generations still having fun together... that would be a fine tradition to keep alive. BTW... you look great in your green coat... no, your red coat... no... that's you in the gray coat, right?.. no... ... ... I'M SOOOO Confused!
Great report Mel!

LOL! you were right the first time-- I was in green!
Its funny cause I think when u see my whole family together- my sister takes more after my mom and me after my dad but then my sister and I look so much alike we must have a mix in there somehow! lol!
I am sooo glad you enjoyed it that much!! My mother and I loved it as well. I got goosebumps during the musical numbers for a few of them. And could not wipe the smile off of my face. I do love Broadway too!! I still have yet to see Little Mermaid, but otherwise I've seen all the Disney on Broadway. (Oh, except I had tickets for Tarzan and then it got cancelled and they re-imbursed us. )

OMG! That is so wierd about Tarzan! We bought tickets... and I was all sad thinking that we should have picked Beauty and the Beast after they announced it was closing-- well, low and behold we get a letter with a refund from Tarzan like 2 days later and used the money to see Beauty and the Beast! lol! Ive never known anyone else who had the Tarzan ticket thing happen too!
How did you like the Lion King? Im thinking of dragging Rob to another one but cant decide between that and Little Mermaid. I know they will both be good but I know I cant get him to go to both this year!

I LOVED the Lion King!! My DH bought tickets for me one year for my birthday. And my mother and I took my oldest and my nephew to see B&B before it closed. I still think I have streamers from the champagne in my "NY Bag" (Just an over the shoulder bag I take to NY all the time). I think your DH would love Lion King. We are trying to decide which will be the next for the boys too, either LK or Little Mermaid. I am sure they'd also love both. But, my youngest Loves Little Mermaid so we are leaning that way.
Ok, I'm finally all caught up with who, what, when, and where What an amazing time you are having being a 'bride'. That's always my advice to anyone getting married. Take time to be a bride. Enjoy the parties and the planning. You only get to be bride once in your life. I must say that you are doing a marvelous job planning. Your day sounds like it will be wonderful!
Many, many for the final preparations for the big day and a life time of joy!

Glad you had such a great day seeing Mary Poppins. I really want to get to see Little Mermaid this year, I have seen the Lion King but the girls haven't but they are wanting the Mermaid so that will probably be the one that wins the vote...
Glad you had such a great time with your sister, mom and grandmother, looks like you had a wonderful time.
